He should , however , do his best , and if at the end of his year he had given satisfaction he would be deeply gratified .
With reference to Bro . Charles Kiralfy the W . M . said that he was the worthy son of an illustrious father , whose example he had followed . He had now gone through all the degrees , and he had rendered the ritual in a most perfect manner . The I . P . As the Soldier valued the Victoria Cross , and the Sportsman the Blue Ribbon , so he regarded the decoration as an evidence that they considered he had done his duty . He acknowledged the great assistance he had received from his Officers , and thanked them all most cordially .

A large assemblage of local and metropolitan Brethren were present when the W . M . Bro . Sidney Arthur Mugford sounded his gavel at 4 . 15 p . m ., and after the minutes of the previous meeting
had been confirmed proceeded with the Installation of his successor Bro . Lewis Beale ( who had obtained a dispensation , as he at the present time is about finishing up his year of Office as W . M . of the Kensington Lodge , No . 1767 ) . The ceremony was admirably carried out by Bro . Mugford , and he was cordially congratulated by most of those whose rank permitted them to be present .
Bro . Beale then proceeded to take the ballot on behalf of Mr . E . H . Ainsworth , which proved unanimous . Having issued his fiat on behalf of Air . A . J . Martin , the Brethren signified their approval , and both these gentlemen , who
are leading inhabitants of the ancient borough , were initiated into the mysteries of the Craft . It is needless for us to state that Bro . Lewis Bcale ' s work was of the best , for he is one of the pillars of the many Lodges of Instruction which meet in and about the Royal Borough of Kensington .
As Bro . C . F . Godfrey was unable to be present the passing ceremony was postponed to the next meeting . The Lodge being closed , the Brethren adjourned to the White Hart Hotel , which is but a few yards distant , where the proprietor of that hostelry had provided a magnificent banquet ; the Brethren did ample justice thereto .
The toasts of the ( Juccn and the M . W . G . M . His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales were most enthusiastically received . Bro . T . J . Railing the Prov . Houghton proceeded with the ceremony of installing Bro . J . T . Taylor S . W . into the chair of K . S . In this performance it is stated Bro . Houghton surpassed any of his previous attempts , proving that as a comparatively young Freemason he afforded promising expectations of future usefulness to the Craft , which fact was recognised by Bro . Newton Prov . G . Sec , who was deputed by the Brethren
of the Lodge to present to him a very valuable Past Master ' s jewel , as a mark of their esteem . Brother Newton prefaced his remarks by expressing his own regret and apology for the unavoidable absence of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master . He also expressed his satisfaction at the efficiency of the Officers , and the ability of the Installing Master in so effectively rendering the important ceremonial of the evening .
Bro . Houghton thanked Bro . Newton for his courteous remarks , and also the Brethren of his Lodge for their token of esteem , assuring them that he had in his past efforts for the Craft sought no material reward , sufficient for himself being the assurance that he had given them some measure of satisfaction during his term of Office .
The newly-installed Worshipful Master then proceeded to invest his Officers , which ceremony he performed in a most efficient manner . The I . P . M . gave the several addresses , after which Bro . Loyal and Masonic toasts were pleasantly varied by the efforts of several Brethren , who contributed songs and musical sketches . The toast of the Worshipful Master was given by Bro . R . Taylor I . His own year of Office nuu not been marked by the addition of many new members , but more money had been voted to Charities than at any previous period of the existence of the Lodge . In conclusion he stated he had seen a few lines in a book which were especially applicable to the W . M ., viz . : —
" Brethren , whether this be seal or sign , within , without , It matters not ; The bond divine I never doubt , I know the Architect above has set me here , And I will wait His will . "
Bro . Truby W . M . replied , and lin the course of his remarks thanked Bro . Taylor for the able manner in which he had performed the ceremony of installation—with a degree of perfection to which he could not hope to attain . It would be egotism for him
to say too much about his own work , but Bro . Taylor had been tried , and the Brethren of the Lodge had marked his zeal and assiduity in a tangible way . In pinning upon his breast a handsome Past Master ' s jewel he hoped Bro . Taylor would live long to wear it , and , in looking upon it in the future , would think with pleasure
