In addition to the usual business the Chapter will consider a proposition for a grant towards the " Beach Perpetual Presentation " to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . The luncheon will be held at 1 . 4 s p . m ., at the Hotel .
Chapter of Rectitude , No . 581 . INSTALLATION OF COxMPANION ROBERT ADSHEAD . THE annual meeting was held at the Exchange Hotel , Fennel Street , Manchester , on Thursday , 6 th inst ., Companion T . C . Lilley M . E . Z ., there being a good attendance of members and visitors . The minutes of the last regular meeting having been submitted and confirmed , and letters of apology for non-attendance read , the Installation of Principals took placeComp . Fletcher Armstrong

Comp . Lilley , in thanking the members for their kindness and mark of approbation , said he was glad his efforts on behalf of the Chapter had pleased them . He expressed his thanks to the newlv-installed Principals , who had always rendered assistance
at the proper time , and ungrudgingly . In conclusion he thanked them from his heart for the handsome jewel of which he had that eveming been the recipient . Comp . Adshead also presented a Scribe E . jewel to Comp . Walker , which bore this legend : —
Presented to COMPANION H . G . WALKER , by the Brethren of the Rectitude Chapter , 581 , as a mark of regard and esteem , and in recognition of zealous and faithful services rendered as Scribe E . from 1896 to 1900 . December 6 th , 1900 .
Comp . Walker expressed the pleasure he had derived from the presentation , assuring the Companions that he had always endeavoured to do his best , and without thought of such recognition . He assured his auditors that his connection with the Chapter had always been of the most pleasant kind . A substantial banquet followed these proceedings .

M ., opened the Lodge , and received the Provincial Grand Officers . The resignation was received with regret of Bro . Col . Gordon Warren of the Office of Deputy Prov . G . M .-
The Provincial Grand Master Bro . Col . Hunter remarked that after a term of service extending over thirteen years the resignation of Col . Warren would be a great loss to the Province . The vacancy was filled by the appointment of

On making the appointment of Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Col . Hunter said that for very many years the Rev . Brother had taken the deepest interest in Mark Masonry , and in Masonry generally . Pie was an old Past Master , and had the honour of being a Past Grand Chaplain of England ; he had also served the Province as their Chaplain . On Col .
Gordon Warren handing the Prov . G . Master his chain of Office , which he had worn for nearly thirteen years , Colonel Hunter told the Brethren how highly he had appreciated ( as they all must have done ) the valued services of the retiring Deputy . As thev all knew he was a most distinguished Macm nr , t- nnlv in t-hnt Province , but in other parts of the
country , and made yearly many special journeys from Shropshire to attend his duties as Deputy of the Province . It was impossible for him to say enough as to Col . Gordon Warren ' s Masonic services generally , and on his retirement they would all be glad to hear that the Colonel trusted still to be sometimes with them ., although he felt his other duties compelled him to tender his resignation as Deputy Prov . G . Master of
North Wales . Touching- reference was made to the death of the late Brother W . D . Henderson Prov . G . Secretary ; and it was further resolved to make a presentation to Colonel Gordon Warren on his retirement .
New Temple At Newbury.
NEW TEMPLE AT NEWBURY .
THE last Lodge of the closing century in the town or Newbury , held in the Temperance Hall , on Friday evening , 7 th inst , was characterised by a numerous and
influential attendance , including Bros . S . Knight jun . ( Acting Worshipful Master , in the absence of Lieutenant-Colonel Gerald Ricardo , still serving with the Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa ) .
The business commenced shortly after six o ' c ' ock , and included the election of the Senior Warden ( Brother John Rolfe ) as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , and the re-appointment of Past Master Belcher as Treasurer . Past Master S . Knight was again chosen Almoner , and Bro . Burton Tyler .
There being no immediate prospect of the return of the Worshipful Master ( Col . Ricar . do ) , who had written to the Acting W . M . asking that the proposed opening of the Masonic Hall in Northbrook Street might not be longer delayed ( the
Imperial Yeomanry being still detained at the seat of war , and the date of their return to England being quite uncertain ) , the Brethren unanimously resolved that steps should at once be taken with the object of inaugurating the new Masonic Temple early in the coming year .
A representative Committee was apjDointed to make the necessary arrangements for the dedication ceremony , which in all probability will be attended by . a goodly number of Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers .
