Ever since he had been a Mason ho had taken a sincere liking to the Craft , and the more he studied the more he saw to admire ; they were a body of men both loyal and honourable . He then , in eulogistic terms , proposed the health of the I . P . M ., Bro . Anderson , who said , iu returning thanks for the honour done him , he never could have had so prosperous a year if it had not been for his Officers ; he

S . then gave the Masonio Charities , aud said ho was about calling a meeting , in March , of the Masters and Wardens of the several Lodges , with a view to form a Charity Committee for the purpose of concentrating the voting power of the Province , aud he

After opening , the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Dybdahl candidate . The sections of the third lecture were then worked . Bro . Roberts 1693 was elected a member . Bro . Crosbie was appointed W . M . for the ensuing week . The annual supper will take place on Monday next , the 25 th inst .

Israel Lodge Of Instruction . —The Annual Dinner of this Lodge took place at Bro . Yetton's , tho Rising Sun , Globe-road , Bethnal Green , on Wednesday , the 20 th inst . Bro . A . M . Cohen , W . M . of the Mother Lodge , presided , and was supported by a goodly attendance of tho members of this popular Lodgo of Instruction . The S . W . and J . W . ' s chairs were respectively filled by Bros . Job and

Stevens . The repast was capitally served , under Bro . Yetton's personal superintendance , aud on the removal of tho cloth , Bro . Cohen , who throughout exerted himself in a most genial fashion , gave the customary toasts . Altogether , a most pleasant evening was spent , though regrets were expressed at the unavoidable absence of some prominent members .

York Lodge , No . 236 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday evening , tho W . M ., Bro . Valentino , presiding , supported by Bros . W . Cowling P . M . 236 , J . Todd P . M . 236 , R . Davison P . M . 236 , T . B . Whytehead W . M . 1611 , the officers of the Lodge , and a good attendance of * brethren . After an initiation and a raising , it was resolved ( uotice having been given ou

the summons ) , on the motion of Bro . Cowling P . M . Treasurer , that tho initiation fee of tho Lodge should be raised from six to ten guineas , and the joining fee from two to three guineas . In moving tho resolution Bro . Cowling gave several reasons why ho considered the step desirable ; a great outlay had been undertaken by the old brethren , and he thought those who profited by their efforts should

contribute more towards the Lodge funds ; the Lodge was also very numerous , and the additional fee would have the effect of bringing up a better class of candidates ; the Past Masters of tbe Lodgo were also all in favour of tho increase . Tho resolution was put and carried . Four candidates were proposed , and the Lodge was then closed .

The minutes of the last regular Lodge wero read by the Secretary

ancl confirmed . The ballot was taken for Mr . R . Whincup Murrell , of Vale College , Slough , and declared unanimous . Tho R . W . the Prov . G . M . of Berks ancl Bucks , Bro . Sir Daniel Gooch , Bart ., M . P ., was then announced , and was received by the Lodge with full Masonic honours . Mr . R . Whincup Murrell , being in attendance aud properly prepared , was regularly initiated into Masonry by the W . M .

Scott was invested with tho collar of I . P . M . and presented with a Past Master's jewel ; tho B . of I . M . ' s was then closed . Tho W . artist ; tho same to bo disposed of , and the proceeds spent in providing the Lodge of Instruction with new collars and anything else that might be required to complete the furniture . Tho unanimous thanks of the members were returned to Bro . Franckel for his generous gift .

Merchant Navy Lodge of Instruction , No . 781 . — Held its weekly meeting ou Wednesday , the 20 th Feb ., at the Silver Tavern , Burdett-road , E . Bros . Breden W . M ., Robinson S . W ., Scheerboom J . W ., Breden Sec , Ives Treas ., Williams S . D ., Clegg J . D ., Jones I . G . Bro . Chapman and others wero also present . Lodge opened in clue form . placed on the tables . The W . M . gave , in a most enthusiastic manner , tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts , and during the evening a choice selection of songs and glees were rendered by Bros . Large and Briggs , assisted by Bro . J . S . Tolley Sec , who presided at the pianoforte . After a very pleasant evening the brethren separated at an early hour .

performed his maiden ceremony with great care . Bro . Parker then answered the questions and was entrusted . Lodgo was opened in second degree , and Bro . Parker was passed by Bro . P . M . Roe . Lodgo resumed to first degree . Bro . Franckel bogged to present the Lodgo of Instruction with a splendid oil painting , by a German

artist ; tho same to bo disposed of , and the proceeds spent in providing the Lodge of Instruction with new collars and anything else that might be required to complete the furniture . Tho unanimous thanks of the members were returned to Bro . Franckel for his generous gift .

Merchant Navy Lodge of Instruction , No . 781 . — Held its weekly meeting ou Wednesday , the 20 th Feb ., at the Silver Tavern , Burdett-road , E . Bros . Breden W . M ., Robinson S . Lodge resumed in the 1 st degree , when the 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd sections of tho lecture were worked by Bro . Ives , assisted by tho brethren . Bro . Maxwell , of the Wanderers' Lodge , was elected a member . Bro . Robinson will preside at the next meeting , 27 th Feb .
