St . Michael Lodge , No . 211 . INSTALLATION OF BROTHER GEORGE F . JOHNSON . THE 106 th anniversary of this Lodge was held on Tuesday of last week at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , E . G ., under somewhat lugubrious circumstances , owing to the Lodge being in mourning for the death of our late beloved Queen . The Brethren and a goodly number of visitors assembled at five o ' clock , when the Lodge was opened by Bro . F . W . Berry Worshipful Master .

After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed the Lodge was advanced to the second degree , when Bro . George F . Johnson W . M .-elect was presented and took the customary obligation with respect to his duties as a ruler in the Craft . The lay Brethren having retired , a Board of Installed Masters

was formed , and Bro . Johnson was formally inducted into the chair of the Lodge . The ceremony was capitally rendered by Brother Berry , whose delivery of the addresses elicited the heartiest approval of those present . Upon the re-admission of the Brethren the new Master was proclaimed and saluted in accordance with

ancient custom . The following Officers were invested by the Master , to each of whom he delivered some complimentary or humorous address : — H . E . Mullins S . W ., C . J . Pinnell J . W ., A . B . Spawforth Treas ., William Radcliffe Sec , Orlton Cooper D . C ., W . M . Sutton S . D ., J . Loverseed J . D ., P . J . King I . G ., E . T . Stainforth Steward , E . E . Berry Organist , William Barnes Tyler .

The new Master quickly proved his capacity , by initiating Mr . George Longworth , previously balloted for . He Tendered the ritual in an intelligent manner , and wound up with the Ancient Charge . There is evidently a good future for Bro . Johnson . The Auditors' Report was presented and adopted , from which

we were glad to perceive that St . Michaels Lodge is not unmindful of the wants of others . In addition to grants made to various distressed Brethren , sums were voted to the Transvaal War Fund , and the Indian Famine Fund , so that the members ha ' ve fairly done their duty in this respect .

Certain alterations in the Bye-laws were proposed for discussion at the next meeting , and there being no further business , the visiting Brethren tendered their congratulations to the W . M . The closing Hymn was sung , and the meeting adjourned . The banquet was served in the handsome ball-room of the Albion , and was worthy the reputation of this famous house .

In proposing the first toast , the King and the Craft , Bro . Johnson made a respectful reference to the death of Queen Victoria , and expressed the hope that our late Grand Master would enjoy many years in his present prominent and glorious position . The usual complimentary speeches followed , and were interspersed with some capital songs , given by Bros . John Josey , Frank Tebbutt , C . F . Frood and G . W . Turner , which werie greatly appreciated .

The Visitors included Bros . Lewis Beale W . M . 1767 , G . H . Beament PaM . 2318 , G . A . Sturgess W . M . 53 S , A . Stanley I . P . M . 2222 , H . Clark 2012 , R . N . Larter P . M . 1791 , I . INSTALLATION OF BROTHER J . BUTCHER . THE annual meeting of this Lodge was held on Thursday , 14 th inst ., by dispensation at the Holborn Restaurant . The usual formalities in regard to the opening of the Lodge having been observed , the Auditors read their report , and the same being satisfactory was received , and ordered to be entered on the minutes .

Mr . H . A . Turner was then initiated into the Order , according to ancient rite . The ceremony of installation was next proceeded with , and was admirably performed by Bro . C . M . Holland ± \ M ., who placed the W . M .-elect , Bro . J . Butcher , in the chair of K . S . with accustomed ceremonial . The new Master appointed his Officersas
