TENNANT LODGE , No . 1992 . ON Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., the Officers and members held their annual summer outing , the party , which numbered about 140 , leaving Cardiff by train for Bridgend , whence they drove in brakes to Dunraven Castlo , where they had an opportunity of rambling over tho charmingly situated grounds surrounding the Earl of Dunravcn ' s picturesque residence . The latter had kindly

given permission for the visitors to view both the castle and grounds , the arrangements having been loft in the hands of thc Stcv * ards . After exploring the grounds luncheon was partaken of on the Castle terrace , the W . M . Bro . Ferris Bailey presiding , when the usual toasts wero honoured . Bro . W . D . Dighton subsequently photographed tho party , and after , tea dancing was indulged in to the music supplied by Mr . Johnson ' s string band .

The catering was successfully undertaken by Bro . J . H . Dunn , of the Bute Dock Hotol , and the outing was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by all present . o o o

CENTURION LODGE , No . 2322 . AN Emergency meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on Monday , the 4 th insfc ., Bro . Capt . D . P . Schloss W . M . Tho business of the evening was of a threefold character . Major William Compton Hall , 2 nd V . B . M . R ., was balloted for and

afterwards duly initiated , and Capt . Oscar Samson was passed to the degree of F . C . The I . P . M . was also very warmly congratulated by fche Lodge upon having recently obtained Provincial honours , which the gallant Major acknowledged in suitable terms . The usual festive board followed these proceedings , when Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

o o o LODGE OF INSTRUCTION , No . 581 . A MEETING was beld at the Old Boar's Head , Manchester , on the 14 th inst ., there being present : —Bros . Hebden , Lenard , Loebell , Longworth , Lingard , Dean , Jackson , Slee , Hellewell , Hilton , Phillips , Fletcher , Nickson , Berry , Hough , Jones . In the absence of Bro . Abbott , the duties of Preceptor fell upon Bro . Alfred Hebden P . M . P . P . G . D . D . C , who appointed the following Officers : Bros . G . T . Lenard W . M ., E . Loebell S . W ., Longworth J . W . Two ceremonies were rehearsed , those of initiation and passing .

Charge . j In the second ceremony also Bro . Berry consented to act as candidate , boing passed by Bro . Loebel , who had assumed the

j principal chair . j It augurs well for the continued prosperity of the Lodge , when we can announce that the names of four Brethren wero submitted as joining members . Tho next meeting will be held on Tuesday , 26 th inst ., after which there will be an adjournment until Thursday , 13 th of September .

o o o CHAPTER OF RECTITUDE , No . 581 . THE removal of this Chapter from Ardwick to tho Clarence Hotel , Manchester , has been attended with the success which was confidently anticipated when the change took place , the large and convenient room , together with the excellent catering of Bro . Braun having in no inconsiderable degree contributed to this result . Afc tho last meeting , Comp . William Kay P . Z . could congratulate himself upon the fact that no less than six Brethren went through

the ceremony of exaltation , and a big night is expected at tho meeting to be held in October . A ballot as joining member was taken for Comp . Oscar Katz , Trafford Chapter , No . 1496 . The six exaltations above referred to were those of Bros . George H . Scotfc 581 , Robert Adshead 581 , Nelson John Stokes 2156 , Ben Walker 2185 , Chas . Paine 2185 , and S . Kindler 2185 .

THE IRISH PASSENGER SERVICE .

A FURTHER improvement is announced to take place in the Service via Stranraer and Lame , from 2 nd July , as follows : London ( St . Pancras ) depart 10 ' 30 a . m ., Leicester 12-30 , Nottingham 11-37 , Bristol 8-30 , Gloucester 9-22 , Birmingham 11-10 . Sheffield

1-18 , Leeds 1-55 , Bradford 20 , Liverpool 1-40 , and Manchester 1-50 , arriving at Belfast the samo evening . Passengers will bo able to take advantage of tho First and Third Class Dining Carriages between London ( St . Pancras ) and Carlisle , provided on the 10 ' 30 a . m . train , and reach Belfast the same evening . A quick return service from Belfast , at 9-5 a . m ., has also been established , whereby passengers for fche above mentioned towns may reach Carlisle in time to join the Midland afternoon Dining Carriage Express , which will land them home the same evening .
