tution . The arrangements were in the hands of a Committee , presided over by Bro . George Everett , and the different events were carried out with so much enthusiasm as to call forth well merited plaudits from the spectators . The following was the programme , with the results :

After the Sports the prizes were distributed by Miss Everett , and this part of the proceedings over , Bro . Eichard Eve proposed a vote of thanks to Miss Everett for her kind services . He considered the boys had proved themselves worthy the attention given them in the

School . He felt sure those present heartily congratulated the lads who had won prizes , and sympathised with those who had not . They had had the opportunity of witnessing a test of strength , in the Tug of War , between the Provincial and London boys , and he was not at all

suiprised that the healthier training of the country lads had secured them the victory , for London could hardly be considered as best calculated to develop the muscle of the growing generation . He concluded by heartily

proposing a vote of thanks to the lady who had presented the prizes , and had thus gracefully brought the proceedings of the day to a conclusion . This was carried by acclamation , and was acknowledged in brief terms by

Bro . George Everett . Altogether the meeting was one of the most successful of the annual gatherings held in connection with the School , this result being in great measure due to the spirit displayed by the pupils and the energy with which

the whole proceedings were carried out . In most of the events the competition was very keen , Marston ' s running being the feature of the afternoon , but in many other of the events the boys displayed true sportsmanlike qualities , and showed excellent form .

The band of the Strand Union Schools enlivened the proceedings with some excellently played selections , under the direction of Brother W . Binnie , the Band Master .

Brother Doctor John Norton , 2030 , of Queen Anne ' s Mansions , S . W ., was elected Medical Officer of Health for the joint Parishes of St . John and St . Margaret ,

Westminister , at the last Vestry meeting , out of a very large number of applicants . It affords us considerable pleasure to join in the congratulations showered upon our worthy Brother by his many friends . While wishing

him a long continuance of the duties of his appointment ,

we hope the work will prove very light , although in so populous a district one cannot expect immunity from the ills of humanity .
