belonging to East Anglia . He thought they must all feel gratified at the excellent report the Board of General Purposes had been able to present that day , and he had not the slightest doubt that as time went on the Province would grow , and share in the prosperity that had characterised the working of the Craft Province for so many years .

TTp H'E annual Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master _ I _ Masons was held at Cheltenham on Friday , 15 th inst , the Provincial Grand Master Brother R . V , Vassaf-Smith presiding . Provincial Grand Lodge having been opened with the
usual formalities , the report of Bro . Balcomb , the Treasurer , was rendered , and showed a very satisfactory condition' of the finances under his management . It was adopted on the motion of the Prov . Grand Master , who took the opportunity
of thanking Bro . Balcomb for his long-continued services , seconded by Bro . Col . Rogers . The re-election of Brother Balcomb , proposed by Bro . Norman , seconded by Brother Ferris , followed .
The roll of the Lodges was next called , and showed an exceptionally strong representation from all the Province , whilst the reports presented were a record of very satisfactory
working during the year . The Provincial Grand Master then proceeded to the appointment and investiture of the Officers for the year , as follow , viz , ; —'

W . the Grand Master for election ; and acting upon this , Bro . the Baron de Ferrieres , himself a past holder of the office , proposed in cordial terms the renomination of Bro . Vassar-Smith . This was seconded by Bro . Ferris and carried by acclamation .
The Provincial Grand Master , in accepting this fourth nomination to the office , said his nine years of office had passed very quickly , and had been made pleasant by the loyal support he had received , and by the steady growth of the Order of the Province . The Brethren afterwards had luncheon at Pittville Pump Room .
The appointment of Viscount Doneraile as Senior Grand Warden of English Mark Masons recalls the fact that Lord Doneraile is the lineal descendant , of the only lady who was ever made a Freemason . His ancestress , the
Hon . Elizabeth St . Leger , hid in a recess in a room in Doneraile Court , county Cork , during the holding of a meeting of a Masonic Lodge . She was discovered , and immediately initiated into Masonic mysteries .

East London and his death , though not wholly unexpected removes one of the oldest landmarks from the social and parochial life of Bow . A few years ago Bro . Logan had the misfortune to lose his wife , and this so preyed upon his mind
that for years he suffered from insomnia . The end of it was a complete breakdown of health , and some 12 months ago he was granted an extended leave of absence by the Vestry Bro . Logan , acting under medical advice , went for a . trip to
