He , however , again broke down , and only a few weeks ago the Vestry unanimously resolved to grant him a further leave of absence . At the last meeting of that body , the chairman
said he had just called upon Mr . Logan , and he was afraid he would never be able to resume his duties . This , unfortunately , proved true . The deceased was born at Paisley , came to London in 1861 . and was married at the St . Andrew ' s
Scottish Church in 1864 . He leaves eight children , the eldest of whom is the manager of the London and Southwestern Bank ( Poplar branch ) . He was a member of the Coborn Lodge , and had served all the Offices .
WE hear with regret of the death of Bro . C . W . Raymond , which took place on Monday , 4 th instant , at his residence , Campbell Road , Bow . The deceased enjoyed in a unique degree the esteem of a large and growing circle of friends . He was one of the founders of the Hygeia Lodge ,
a P . M ., and Treasurer at the time of his ueath . He was a member of the All Saints Lodge , Poplar , and had passed the chair . He was also a member of All Saints Chapter . No one took a deeper interest in promoting the success of the Poplar Benevolent Society , and as Secretary to that laudable
organisation he was rriuch respected . Bro . Raymond , however , achieved his most signal successes in work of a parochial character . He was most successful as inspector of nuisances in factories , and it is interesting to hear that he was appointed to that position by the Poplar Board solely on his merits .
His services were so much appreciated that with the consent of the Poplar Board some years ago he was allowed to take the position of inspector of nuisances in factories in the Erith district . Death occurred most unexpectedly , and has , needless to say , caused profound regret among all who had the privilege of his acquaintance .
THE funeral took place on the nth inst . in Plymouth Cemetery of Bro . Ernest Budge , of Mutley , who died trie previous Friday , after a very brief illness . Bro . Budge was a member for many years of the Prudence Lodge , N o . 1550 , of which he was . a Past Master , and among whose
members he was held in very great esteem . The Masonic Brethren assembled at the Club , in Princess Square , about eleven o ' clock on the morning of the funeral and drove in carriages to the residence of the deceased , where they were joined by a large number of other . friends , so that the cortege
was an unusually long one . 'ihe service at the cemetery was conducted by the Rev . J . M . Hodge . The coffin was completely hidden under a large number of beautiful wreaths ,
and at the conclusion of the ceremony the Masonic Brethren each dropped a sprig of acacia into the grave . Bro . Budge , who was thirty-nine years old , leaves a widow and two young children .
ON Saturday , 2 nd inst ., passed away the highly respected Bro . J acob Friedeberg , one of the oldest Freemasons in the borough of Portsea , a P . M . ot the Cratt . Of the J ewish persuasion , he was many times Warden of the synagogue , and filled almost every office ot responsibility .
He was a trustee of the Synagogue , and a lite member ot its council , and received many toKens of regard tor the valuable services rendered , among which was an illuminated address . He was a trustee of Aria College , an institution he took a
great interest in . His mortal remains were interred in the J ewish Cemetery , Fawcett Road , Southsea , on Tuesday , 5 th inst ., amidst > the universal respect of Portsea tradesmen , and many from different parts of the borough . The funeral was well attended by all classes .
THE remains of the late Bro . Wm . Hawes , of Woodbridge , who died on Whit-Monday , at the age of 78 , were interred on Friday afternoon , 8 th inst . The Doric Lodge , of which deceased had been . a member many years , was
represented by several members , as also were other bodies with which the deceased had been associated . There were many floral tributes , and at the conclusion of the ceremony the deceased ' s Brother Masons dropped sprigs of acacia into the grave in accordance with custom .
THE death is announced of Bro . John Dew , J . P ., of Basingstoke , a Past Master of the Oakley . Lodge , and a P . P . G , Reg . He was also a member of the Provincial Grand Lodge Charities Committee . ' '

L ORD Wantage Provincial Grand Master has invited the members of Provincial Lodge to hold their annual meeting at his residence , Lockinge , near Wantage .. The gathering will take place about the middle of next month .

THE annual meeting of this Provincial Grand Lodge will be held at Clacton-on-Sea , on Tuesday , 17 th proximo , and may be looked forward to with the certainty of proving most enjoyable , provided fine weather prevails .
Saturday next , the 30 th instant , will be ex-pupils' day , and , as usual , the Flouse Committee of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls will be pleased to see as many ex-pupils as can make it convenient to attend between the hours of
three and seven p . m . The Committee , however , wish to impress upon ex-pupils that the day is set apart for them , and them only , and that visitors are not invited or expected to attend .
At the conclusion of the June meeting of the St . Anne Lodge , Looe , the W . M . and Brethren were entertained at a cold collation by Bro . Sholto H . Hare P . P . J . G . D . During the evening a telegram was sent by Bro . Hare to the Queen ,
conveying the hearty congratulations of the members of . the Lodge on the recent successes of the troops in South Africa . The following reply has reached the Secretary of the Lodge , Bro . J . G . Kenwood P . P . S . G . D . : —
Buckingham Palace , June 9 th , 1900 . The Private Secretary is commanded to express the thanks of the Queen for the kind message of congratulation which you have forwarded to her Majesty . "
