ON tho afternoon prior to the regular meeting of the Callondor Lodgo , No . 1052 , tlio W . M . Bro . Acton Williams , and a number of tho brethreu of this and other Lodges , mot at tho Mode Wheel Cemetery , near Manchester , to pay tho last sad office of respect to tho late Bro . P . M . Fallows , who died on tho previous Friday afternoon , after

a long and painful illness . His death was a great loss to tho Lodge , because he was one of fche oldest P . M . ' s , had been a regular attendant , and was ever ready to help , with heart , hand and purse , any object which meant Charity or the prosperity of Freemasonry . A quantity of very

beautiful wreaths adorned the coffin , sent by relatives and friends ; one was sent by the employes of the Silver Grid Dining Rooms , of which the deceased brother was proprietor ; and a large and beautiful floral square and compass mado of choice white roses , with the letter G

mado of violets in tho centre , was sent by the Lodgo . After tho funeral service in the church was over , and the coffin lowered into tho grave , tbe Worshipful Mastor , who stood at tho head of the grave , holding the floral contribu . tion of tho Lodge , summoned the brethren to stand round , and in ancient manner took leave of thoir departed brother .

BRO . R . J . PATON . WE regret to have to record the death of Bro . R . J . Paton , I . P . M . Israel Lodge , No . 205 . It appears that Bro . Paton , while passing clown Coldharbour-lane , Brixton , either missed his footing or slipped upon something , and his head coming in contact with the kerbstone caused instantaneous death . Tho deceased loaves a widow and five children .

BRO . R . H . SOOTHERAN . ON Wednesday , 13 th inst ., Bro . R . H . Soothoran died at his rosidenco , South Parade , Northallerton , at the age of

forty-oight . Deceased was well known , nofc only in North Yorkshire , bufc throughout the whole of South Durham , be having travelled thafc district for the well-known firm of Messrs . Ryland and Co ., of Manchester , for upwards of

twenty years . Latterly he has been m indifferent health , and somo six weeks ago he had the misfortune to lose his wife . In facfc ho has been so seriously indisposed for months past as to be unable to follow his bnsiness , but his demise was sudden . Ho suffered from a complication of

ailments , tho principal of which was kidney and heart disease .

The current number of the Masonio Review fully sustains its character for perfection , so far as the arfc of typography is concerned , bufc in other respects wo fear it will not meet tho demand that prompted its appearance in tho path devoted to Masonic Journalism . The brief references ifc makes to tho lato Sir Daniel Gooch have appeared

elsewhere , and the same remark will apply equally to a large proportion of the other " intelligence" our contemporary indulges in . A splendid specimen of the printer ' s art is

displayed in the portrrifc of the late Sir Daniel Gooch , which is everything that could be desired . Bro . Frederick Binckes is the worthy Mason selected for fche " Afc Homo " page , and thafc brother ' s friends will appreciate tho fraternal spirit that pervades the writer ' s remarks throughout . There was a very full attendance at tho Board of Benevolence on Wednesday evening at Freemasons' Hall . Bro . Robert Groy P . G . D . President , Bro . James Brett P . G . P ., and Bro . 0 . A . Cottebrune P . G . P . occupied their respective chairs ; Bros . Colonel Shadwell H . Gierke Grand Secretary , A . A . Pendlebury A . G . S ., W . Dodd , W . H . Lee , and Neville Green represented Grand Secretary ' s Office . The Board of Masters was first held , when the agenda paper for next Quarterly Communication was read to

the brethren . Bro . James Brett proposed a vote of thanks to Bro . Grey for the able manner in which he had presided over the Board during fche past year . The brethren would nofc be discharging their duty if they did not tako that opportunity of recognising Bro . Grey ' s ability and geniality , nofc only during fche pasfe year , bufc ever since he had been President of the Board . Bro . Cottebrune

seconded the motion , which was unanimously agreed to . Bro . Grey returned his hearty thanks , and assured tho brethren thafc he had only endeavoured to do his duty . He had been so ably supported by the other members of the Board that it was a pleasure to work wifch them in their great and noble cause . The Board of Benevolence having been opened , the brethren confirmed recommendations to the Grand Master , made at the October meeting ,

to the amount of £ 290 . The new list contained the names of 38 petitioners . Two cases were dismissed , as not coming within the rules of the Board , and five wore deferred , not being complete . The remainder were relieved , with a total sum of £ 805 . This amount was made up of . one recommendation to Grand Lodgo of £ 200 , and two

recommendations of £ 50 ; two recommendations to tho Grand Mastor of £ 40 , and three of £ 30 . Thero wero 11 grants of £ 20 , one of £ 15 , nine of £ 10 , and two of £ 5 .

be followed by a miscellaneous entertainment , and an interesting feature will be a performance ot " A Sheep in Wolf ' s Clothing , " in which all fche male parts will be played by members of the Sfc . Asaph Lodge of Freemasons , assisted by their wives ' . On such an

The fourteenth annual report of the Southampton Masonic Benevolent Association , whose operations aro confined to the Royal Gloucester , Peace and Harmony , and Southampton Lodges , has just been issued . Six benevolent

grants were made during the year . The capital account stands at £ 1 , 300 , and there is a balance of £ 101 5 s at tho bankers .
