Duffin , ip replying , regretted his being obliged to sever his connection ; but he wished to better himself , and no matter where ho wonld be he would always prize the gifts which were so heartily presented to him . AT a regular meeting of this Chapter , held in the Freemasons ' Hall , Manchester , an interesting and pleasant incident ocourred in the shape of a presentation to Comp . Andrew of a clock and ornaments . After the presentation had been made , Comp . Andrew replied as follows : —It is nn old man ' s privilege to look back , as it is the delight of tho young to look forward . I may be pardoned in speaking of self , and taking a retrospect of my connection with this Chapter .

In looking over a list of members , printed in 1877 , when I was first appointed Scribe E ., great changes have taken place . Above eighty members have died vr left the Chapter . When requested by Comp . Hooper to bo Scribe E ., when ho waa » lrcted the First Principal in 1877 , I accepted the office with no idea of any reward or testimonial . I continued ns Scribe E . for the following year , when Comp . Clay was

First Principal , and afterwards was asked to take the third ohair , but declined , ns I tbonsfht tbe office of Secretary was more in my line . Iu 1885 I was elected aud served as Scribe E ., when lute Comp . V / bittaker WHS Firwt Principal . In 1886 Comp . C . J . Suhoffold , 1887 Comp . Byway , 1888 Comp . Pnulden , 1889 Comp . Cliffe , filled the office , and 1 Im ^ e had a worthy successor in 1890 , when Comp . Swinn

was appointed . Since I joined the Chapter in 1874 , 25 members of my mothpr L dpjp , Sfranpeways , No . 1219 . have become members . I proposed 15 of them . One Companion ( of Lodge No . 1219 , who I proposed ) , Comp . Dawson , in vnrions offices , pave eight years good service to the Crispier . He died regretted . Other members of 1219 have served the Chnpter with zeal and credit . Last January , when a
