DBAB SIR AND BBOTHEB , —In your issue of 6 th January last you give an extract from the " Hampshire Independent" to the effect that the last time a similar ceremony to' that which took place at Boscombo ( when the Provincial Grand Master laid tho
foundation stono of a new church ) was performed by the Hampshire Masons was in 1792 . This is incorrect . Tho last time was in 1874 , when the present Prov . G . M ., assisted by his Officers , laid the foundation stone of tho new ohancel of All Saints' Church , Landport . Yours , & o ., T . F .

5 . REPORT OF THE BOARD OF GENERAL PURPOSES To the United Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of England . Tho Board have to report that a Complaint was referred to them 01 Benevolence
oy me rsoara . in August last against a P . M . of Lodge No . 319 , Lymington , for having applied to his own use the ' greater part of £ 10 confided to him by the Board of Benevolence for the relief of a Brother in distress .
The Brother failed to comply with the Summonses sent to him from the Board until the November Meeting when , after investigation , the Board arrived at the conclusion that of the sum of £ 10 he had properly expended only £ 4 6 s 4 d , for the purpose for which it was intrusted to him . The Board thereupon ordered him to repay to the Grand Secretary within one week the balance , amounting to £ 5 13 s 8 d , which he promised to do . At the meeting of the Board
in December , he having failed to obey the order of the Board , was summoned to shew cause why he should not be suspended . Ho appeared before the Board on the 16 th January , and after declaring his inability to pay , threatened to publish the correspondence between himself and the Grand Secretary in a pamphlet form , which threat he refused to withdraw . It was resolved that he bo suspended from all Masonic privileges and rights until further order of the Board .
The Board have further to report the investigation by them of a complaint by Brother John Bussey against Brother Maxfiold Mead for having , on the 21 st November last , being then W . Master of the Bromley St . Leonard ' s Lodge , No . 1805 , illegally displaced him from the office of S . Deacon of that Lodge . It appeared that the
W . M . laid the cause of his complaint against Brother Bussey before the Lodgo when 43 members were present . The W . M . although still remaining in the Lodge , temporarily left the chairj which was then taken by Brother Tom Green P . M ., who put a resolution to the vote that the complaint was well founded ; 12 voted for and 2 against , the remaining 29 refraining from voting .
