Reports Of Meetings.

Secretary , Powell S . D ., and many Brethren of the Lodge were present . Visitors : Bros . P . M . Hemming , Anderson , Edmonds and several others . The Lodge was opened in due form , and Minutes of the Installation and Emergency Meetings were confirmed . Bro . Langley W . M . then proceeded to raise Bros . Langton , Hornby and Kenny ,

pass Bros . Levick , Codner and Moore to tho degree of Fellow Craffc , and initiate Mr . Kroning . The Worshipful Master is a very earnest student of the Master ' s work . His earnest and painstaking delivery made a great impression on his candidates , and drew forth a very hearty expression of satisfaction from the

Brethren . The W . M . afterwards vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Arthur Scurrah P . M ., to enable him to Initiate his very old friend Mr . Charles Arnold , and this was evidently a source of pleasure to both . A notice of motion by Bro . W . A . Scurrah P . M . was then discussed and the Lodge closed .

At the banquet table , Bro . Langley presided with his usual tact and ability . The toast of the Queen , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales the M . W . G . Master , and the Grand Officers were given and received with great heartiness . The health of the W . M . met wifch a cordial reception , and Bro .

A . Scurrah in proposing it expressed the great esteem felt by the Brethren for their W . M . His study was to uphold the good working and spirit of emulation that animated the Brethren . His happy and courteous manner tended to endear him to them all , and would make his year of office nofc only a pleasure to look back upon , but also one of the most successful during the career of the Lodge .

The W . M . in returning thanks expressed the pleasure ifc gavo him to witness the hearty reception of the toast . He was convinced of the good feeling shown towards him or they would not have brought so many gentlemen to join them . He could assure the Brethren that nothing should be wanting on his part to add to the prosperity of the Lodge .

The toast of the Initiates was next given , and replied to by the Candidates of the evening in a few well chosen and earnest words . The toast of the Past Masters was received very warmly , and Bros . W . A . Scurrah , Lewis , Nottingham and A . Scurrah briefly responded .

Bro . W . M . Stiles P . M . Treasurer , thanked the Master and the Brethren for their loyal support at the recent election for the Office of Grand Treasurer . A great many Brethren were absent on the 7 th inst . who had promised to support him , and tho experience gained afc the election would no doubt teach the Brethren a lesson for the future .

To the toast of the Visitors , Bros . Kenning P . M ., Dr . Anderson and Hudson replied , expressing tho great pleasure they had experienced in the capital working of the Lodge , and their very cordial reception . Bro . Dr . Anderson alluded to his being initiated in the Lodge , and how gratified he felt in being with them once

more . The toasfc of the Officers and the Tyler's toast brought the evening to a very happy conclusion . o o o

PROVINCIAL .

PORTSMOUTH LODGE , No . 487 . ON Thursday , the 8 th inst ., a large gathering attended the installation of Bro . John Brickwood P . M . P . P . G . D . The ceremony of installation was performed by Bro . Frank Meredith

W . M ., who also presented the new W . M . with a box of articles for his Masonic work . Bro . Brickwood subsequently presented Bro . Meredith I . P . M . with a P . M . ' s jewel , subscribed for by the members of the Lodge .

The Brethren afterwards partook of an excellent banquet . In responding to the toast of tho- Grand Lodge Officers , Bro . Eve alluded in kindly terms to the support which the Portsmouth Brethren in conjunction with the Hampshire Brethren , had given him when he was elected Grand Treasurer of England . Other

toasts followed . The W . M ., in responding to the toasfc of the new Master , expressed the hope that all the Brethren of the Lodge would be regular and constant in their attendance at the meetings and assist him in maintaining tho position of the Lodge in the district .

0 0 0 PEMBROKE LODGE , No . 1299 . THERE was a large and influential gathering in the Lodge Room at the Shiel Park Hotel , Fairfield , for the installation

of Bro . R . Jones as Worshipful Master . The Installing Master was Bro . S . Haden Jones P . M . D . C . At the close of the ceremony the Brethren sat down to a banquet admirably served by Bro . Saxon .

The usual toasts were honoured , and during the evening the I . P . M ., Bro . John Leach , was presented with a handsome P . M . 's apron , collar , and jewel , and a beautiful silver tea and coffee service for Mrs . Leach . 0 0 0

ARCHITECT LODGE , No . 1375 . THE regular meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Chorltoncum-Hardy , on Friday , the 2 nd inst , Bro . James Morrison jun . W . M . There were also present : —Bros . After the reading of minutes , the name of Baron Emile Charles De Minciaky was submitted to the ballot , and being favourably received , he was duly prepared , and afterwards initiated by Bro . Morrison . The working tools were explained by Bro . Chas Rawle , while Bro . Alfred Pickford rendered the ancient charge , the work of these Officers being performed in so excellent a manner as to receive the warm commendations of members and visitors alike .

Before the Lodgo was closed , a committee was formed to carry out all arrangements in connection with tho yearly picnic . At tho festive board , tho usual toasts were honoured , that of tho Initiate being placed in the hands of Bro . Southam P . M ., tho proposer of the candidate . He said that ho had the honour to submit to the Brethren a toast which he felfc assured would meet

with that cordial support which it deserved . They must all naturally feel that there had been admitted amongst them that evening a new member who , by his demeanour hnd envinced that ho was likely not only to prove a good and faithful Brother , but a credit to the Lodge and the Craft generally , for ho was a gentleman in the highest and strictest sense of tho word .

Baron Mmciaky replied in excellent English , and spoke with a fluency which surprised his auditors . He explained how very deeply he had been impressed by the beautiful ceremony through which he had passed , and thanked the brethren from his heart for the exceeding kindness and courtesy which they had testified toward him . He would in return try to become a good and true Mason , and fervently hoped that the timo would never arrive when

they would regret the favour which they had bestowed upon him . Bro . Moss P . M . proposed the health of the W . M . saying that in chosing leaders it was always a matter of deep anxiety as to whether the right man was being selected , but he was proud to be enabled fco say wifch all sincerity , that in Bro . Morrison they had a Worshipful Master who would answer all expectations . Bro . Morrison replied .

Songs , recitations and instrumental music were rendered by Bros . Rushton , Nail , Beever , Willcock , Heymann , Fryer , and Brown .

Boden having now , for the second time in his Masonic experience , been installed into the chair of King Solomon , accepted the responsibilities of his position with the air of a practised

The festival of St . John took place in the Lodge Room , and was a very brilliant affair , the dinner being supplied in Bro . Wilkinson's best style . Following Loyal toasts was that of the Provincial Officers , proposed by the W . M ., the same being responded to by Bros . Jelly , Hilton , Abbott , and Andrew . Bro . Jelly delivered a pleasant and rousing speech , which was provocative of a great

amount of laughter , while Bro . Andrew paid a very flattering tribute to the Prov . Officers generally , and stated parenthetically that Bro . Abbott had done yeoman service in the Province of East Lancashire . He augured that the Duke of York Lod ge would have a career before it second to none , and heartily wished the members all that success which their unwearying efforts deserved .

Then came the toast of thc newly-installed Worshipful Master ( Bro . Boden ) , which was proposed by the I . P . M . Bro . Schofield said thafc as the first elective Officer of the Duke of York Lodge he felt that in handing down to hia successor the care and charge of the Lod choice had been

ge , a good made . He regretted that durin " his term of office he had been absent from Lodge on one occasion " but the cause was unhappily one over which he had no control . At his time of life he had no other object in view than the progress of Masonic principles . No Brother who had occupied the position
