The Royal Albert Orphan Asylum.

THE ROYAL ALBERT ORPHAN ASYLUM .

WE have often had occasion to allude to the many and great claims whioh thia invaluable Institution has upon the sympathies and consideration of the benevolent ; the economy and excellence of the management have frequently brought the Institutioii-into favourable comparison with many other equally deserving Charities . It is with profound regret , therefore , we hear that , in

spite of the rigid care which has been exercised in the supervision of the interior economy of the Asylum , the promoters feel themselves compelled to make such changes in their London office as will necessitate tho retirement of Bro . William Worrell , who has discharged tho duties of the Secretaryship with snch zeal and fidelity as to earn for him the highest expressions of approbation from all

connected with tho establishment . It is not , of coarse , onr province to dictate to the executive , or to ask them the old question , " Wh y not let well alone ? " But it occurs to us that if financial pressure has overtaken the Institution , there is all tho more need for retaining such workers as everybody knows Bro . Worrell to be . Ho has proved himself a most energetic , persevering man , and we have always been

given to understand that it was greatly to his discreet and excellent workino- the success of the Asylum is due . We trust that in making these proposed changes the executive are not committing an error which they may hereafter regret ; at the same time we rejoice to see that in adopting these measures the Committee are profuse in their

expressions of appreciation and good wishes towards a gentleman who has laboured so wisely and well for them dnring the past five years , and we join with them in their desire that he may speedily obtain another sphere of usefulness , for which his ability and experionce fit him in no ordinary degree .

The late lamented Bro . William Watson , formerly of tho Freemasons' Tavern , Avho died on the 20 th inst ., will be buried at three o ' clock on Monday next , at Great Oornard Church , Sudbury , Norfolk .

The Earl of Rosslyn , H . M . ' s Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of tho Church of Scotland , reached Edinburgh from London on Tuesday , and proceeded to Holyrood Palace . He Avas accompanied by
