SUMMER OUTING OF THE GREY FRIARS LODGE , No . 1101 .

ON Thursday , the 15 th instant , several of the members of this prosperous Lodge assembled at Caversham Lock , on the Thames , accompanied by thoir friends , for the purpose of proceeding down the river for a clay ' s enjoyment , in response to a circular issued by the Excursion Committeo , of which the popular VV . could be desired . On reaching Medmenharn , the patty went ashore to view the Abbey aud the seen -ry around , and , upon entering the Hotel , they found an excellent luueheou spread , to which full justice Avas done . The trip Avas resumed , and the scenery unfolded itself , the beauty of which AA as certainly beyond desctiption . Upon reaching Great Marlow , a second lauding took place , at the Complete

Angler ' s Hotel , where the pretty lawn aud gardens Avere much admired , as Avell as the waterf . dl near the lock . The trip Avas continued past the lovely Cliefden Woods , through Cookham Reach , Boulter ' s Lock , and Maidenhead Bridge , to the Railway Arch , when the steamer turned and proceeded to tho Ray Mead Hotel , where they Avere met by mine host Deacon , Avho welcomed them to a recherche banquet , Avhich

was Avell served , and to wbich about thirty brethren sat doAvn , including some members of the Ellington Lodge . Ou the removal of the cloth , the W . M ., as Chairman , gave " The Qaeen and the Craft , " announcing that the usual Masonic ceremonies would be dispensed with ou this occasion . After other Loyal and Masonic toasts had been honoured , "The Excursion Committeo" Avas proposed by Bro . Kirk

P . M ., and responded to by Bros . Margrett P . M . and Pulley P . M . The toast of the evening AVUS the present popular Master of 1101 , introduced by Bro . Prickett , Avho announced that a deputation of Past Masters from Loudon Lodges were present , who were desirous of presenting him with a testimonial , subscribed for by a number of bis intimate Masonic friends . It consisted of a complete full

dress regalia , necessiafced by his recent appointment as Prov . G . S . of Works Berks and Bucks , and included Avith it was a handsome gold jewel of the office , in an appropriate case—the Avhole enclosed in a beantiful morocco case , dul y inscribed , as a mark of tho great respect of his friends , and of their admiration for his abilities in conducting the ceremonies in the Lodge during their visits , and as a

recognition of his valuable services in advancing the cause of Freemasonry , particularly his late great exertions as Steward to the Royal Masonic Institntion for Girls , by taking up to the Festival the magnificent sum of tAvo hundred pounds ! The deputation then presented Bro . Danks Avith the testimonial , wishing him every happiness and prolonged life to Avear it , and they congratulated the

Lodge over Avhich he presides . The toast Avas drank in a bumper Avith the greatest enthusiasm . The W . M ., in responding , expressed his thanks for the kind manner in which the deputation had conveyed tho sentiments of the subscribers to the splendid testimonial whicht they had just offered him , and which he accepted with heartfels I ' twUuga or gratitude ; he considered it au honour to the Grey Friar Lodgo . After the toast of " Tho Visitors , " proposed by tho S . W .,

ON Thursday , the 15 th instant , several of the members of this prosperous Lodge assembled at Caversham Lock , on the Thames , accompanied by thoir friends , for the purpose of proceeding down the river for a clay ' s enjoyment , in response to a circular issued by the Excursion Committeo , of which the popular VV . The trip Avas continued past the lovely Cliefden Woods , through Cookham Reach , Boulter ' s Lock , and Maidenhead Bridge , to the Railway Arch , when the steamer turned and proceeded to tho Ray Mead Hotel , where they Avere met by mine host Deacon , Avho welcomed them to a recherche banquet , Avhich

was Avell served , and to wbich about thirty brethren sat doAvn , including some members of the Ellington Lodge . Ou the removal of the cloth , the W . M ., as Chairman , gave " The Qaeen and the Craft , " announcing that the usual Masonic ceremonies would be dispensed with ou this occasion . After other Loyal and Masonic toasts had been honoured , "The Excursion Committeo" Avas proposed by Bro . Kirk

P . M ., and responded to by Bros . Margrett P . M . and Pulley P . M . The toast of the evening AVUS the present popular Master of 1101 , introduced by Bro . Prickett , Avho announced that a deputation of Past Masters from Loudon Lodges were present , who were desirous of presenting him with a testimonial , subscribed for by a number of bis intimate Masonic friends . It consisted of a complete full

dress regalia , necessiafced by his recent appointment as Prov . G . S . of Works Berks and Bucks , and included Avith it was a handsome gold jewel of the office , in an appropriate case—the Avhole enclosed in a beantiful morocco case , dul y inscribed , as a mark of tho great respect of his friends , and of their admiration for his abilities in conducting the ceremonies in the Lodge during their visits , and as a

recognition of his valuable services in advancing the cause of Freemasonry , particularly his late great exertions as Steward to the Royal Masonic Institntion for Girls , by taking up to the Festival the magnificent sum of tAvo hundred pounds ! The deputation then presented Bro . Danks Avith the testimonial , wishing him every happiness and prolonged life to Avear it , and they congratulated the

Lodge over Avhich he presides . The toast Avas drank in a bumper Avith the greatest enthusiasm . The W . M ., in responding , expressed his thanks for the kind manner in which the deputation had conveyed tho sentiments of the subscribers to the splendid testimonial whicht they had just offered him , and which he accepted with heartfels I ' twUuga or gratitude ; he considered it au honour to the Grey Friar Lodgo .
