Royal Victorian Jubilee Lodge , No . 2184 . ANNUAL DINNER .

A VERY successful function was arranged by the members of this Lodge , and what proved to be a most interesting meeting was held on Wednesday , 14 th inst ., at the Dover Castle Hotel , Westminster Bridge Road . Bro . A . Darch P . M . Preceptor of the Lodge , whose love for the ritual of Freemasonry is so well known ,

could not—or rather would not—partak / e of enjoyment before attending to the usual weekly meeting , and so the Lodge was called for 2 . 30 , instead of 3 o ' clock , and was regularly opened by Brol Darch , who had the support of Bro . Dr . F . Allen S . W ., J . Rugg J . W ., Humphrey Cohen P . M . acting Prec , W . Lonnen S . D ., Percy Gayer J . D ., J . Wynman I . G ., and other members and Visitors .

The minutes having been confirmed , the W . M . proposed to work a few Sections , but by especial desire of the Brethren . he changed his intention and Bros . Linton , Levy , and Hill were added to the already long list of members , after which the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren retired to the reception room , to welcome their Lady friends and other visitors . After a pleasant little chat thev were conducted to the banquetting room , which

presented a really beautiful spectacle . The tables were beautifully decorated with choice flowers , by the Manager of the establishment , Bro . E . Voigt , while the excellent dinner he provided was alike a credit to the establishment and to himself . It was greatly enjoyed by the company , some of whom considered many well known Hotels might have profited b' > seeing how this dinner was served ; there was abundance of everything , and at a moderate cost .

After dinner Bro . Darch in eloquent terms proposed the toast of the Queen and the Craft , which was most heartily received , equally so by the Ladies , as by the Brethren . Madame Zippora Monteith sang the National Anthem in grand style . The toast of the Prince and Princess of Wales , and the rest of the Royal family was next rendered , and also met a heart }' response , after which Bro . Dalmaine sang " The young Royalist , " to perfection .

Bro . Darch proposed the toast of the Royal Victorian Jubilee Lodge of Instruction , saying that the Lodge in the past year had diffused much instruction amongst the younger members . Some other evening , perhaps , they might , if opportunity served , give information on Masonic matters to the Ladies , but at present they were not allowed to do so . He had seen many members of the

Instruction Lodge rise to the highest Offices in various Lodges , and he had felt more proud of the Lodge in consequence , than of his own work . With the toast he had the pleasure of coupling the name of Bro . W . J . Newstead , their indefatigable Secretary , who had done so much for the Lodge ; he regarded him as an unsurpassable Officer . He also desired to couple the name of their late Secretary Bro . Sinclair P . M .

Bro . Newstead thanked the W . M . for his very kind remarks . It was at all times a pleasure to see the Instruction Lodge well attended . There was a certain amount of trouble attached to the Office of Secretary , but he cheerfully undertook it , and what he did 'was purely for the love of Freemasonry . This year they had

started a Benevolent Fund , and they had already sent up twenty guineas to the Charities as a result . If the Brethren would continue to give their support to the Lodge he should feel amply repaid for any services he rendered to it . Bro . Sinclair followed , strongly recommending the Lodge of
