St . Margaret's , and they might well say of their Bro . Bradbeer that he was a good Mason , whose Masonry was not confined within the four walla of the Lodge , but permeated his whole every-day life . The brethren wished heartily that a long and prosperous life lay before him , and that good wish was extended to the lady whom be had so recently made his helpmate . With these observations the

W . M . handed to Bro . Bradbeer a morocco-bound case of elegant silver dessert knives and forks , in the name of the brethren of St . Margaret ' s Lodge . Bro . Bradbeer's acknowledgment was brief , but fall of feeling . He had endeavoured , he said , to act np to the true spirit of Masonry , and he valued even more than their costly present the good feeling and « uod wishes that had been extended to

him by his brethren . Tbe Lodge was then re-opened , and the installation ceremony was very impressively conducted by Brother Walter Diver . The newly-et'cted W . An adjournment was then made to the elegant banqueting hall , where a repast in every way worthy the occasion was served by Bro . J . Whaley . The tables were most artistically dressed , a wealth of art draperies , massive epergnes , which were laden with delicate blooms and luscious fruit , prettily

shaded lamps and elegant piandial furniture , combining to produce an effeot that was decidedly charming . The newly . installed W . M . presided , and be was inflnentially supported . At the close of the banquet the usual toasts , the Queen and the Craft , and the M . W . Grand Master of England H . R . H . the Prince of Wales were honoured with all the loyal enthusiasm that is characteristic of

Freemasonry , while the same remark may be applied to the next toast , the Most Worshipful Pro Grand Master , the Right Wor . Deputy Grand Master , and the Grand Officers Present and Past . In giving the Provincial Grand Master , the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , and the Provincial Grand Officers , Bro . Kerry Rix paid a tribute of respect to Lord Henniker and the Rev . C . J . Martyn , and

to the whole of the Officers of the Prov . Grand Lodge , on whose behalf Bros . F . S . Ellen and W . B . Cooper suitably replied . The I . P . M . mxt gave the Worshipful Master , expressing the confidence he felt that Bro . Ward would worthily fill the chair , and wishing him a happy and prosperous year of office . The toast having been accorded Masonio hononrs , the W . M . suitably returned thanks , assuring

his brethren that his best efforts wonld be at the service of his Lodge . The Installing Master was given by tbe W . M ., and suitably acknowledged by Bro . W . Diver . The health of Bro . J . P . Smith as I . P . M . was drunk amidst muoh enthusiasm , and in replying , he said that he had tried to fill tbe position of W . M . as worthily as those good Masons before him , and he felt , from their kind expressions ,

that he had not been unsuccessful . The toasts of tbe W . M . and Brethren of Unity Lodge , the Visitors , the Charities , and the Officers of tbe Lodge having been duly honoured , tbe Tyler ' s toast brought this portion of the programme to a olose . The harmony of the evening was contributed to by Bro . A . G . Notley , who gave a capital rendering of that fine nanticil song , " The Diver , " and Bro .

H . Bracey , whose " Tom Bowling" and "Tho Fountlin" were much enjoyed . Bro . C . T . Turner , in his usual happy Btyle , contributed "Nancy Leer" by speoial request , and was followed by Brother F . Smith , whose rich baritone voice was heard to advantage in " True till death , " while contributions by Bros . J . Whaley , A . H . Hunt , H . C . Perrin , E . C . Titcomb , Kerry Rix , and J . A . H . Warland wont to complete a highly successful , as well as enjoyable evening .

The ballot was successful in both oases , and one of them ( Mr . Wei -a ) , who put in an appearance , w is

Bishop , who expressed a wish to be passed to the second degree , answered the necessary questions , retired for requisite preparation , and npon his re-entry into the Lodge , was duly passed into the degree of a F . C . by Brothor Buckley Carr . A Board of Installed Masters was shortly

afterwards formed , Bro . F . Hilton W . M . ( Installing Master ) retaining the occupancy of the principal chair , Bro . A . Hebden assuming that of 8 . W ., and Bro . Robert Caldwell that of J . Hilton has become a power in the Lodge . He has left a heritage of success : may those who follow him be infeoted with his extraordinary puissance . The banquet wbioh followed waa

served in the large commercial room of the hotel , and waa of that magnifioent description which would defy competitors of Bro . Tom Wood to excel , and indeed might tax all their efforts to equal . The usual Loyal and Masonio toasts having been disposed of , Bro . Hilton I . P . M . proposed that of the Worehip ' nl Master in very appropriate terms , to which Bro . Archdale responded . The next toast wis that of the I . P . M . and Installing Master ( Brother Hilton ) , proposed by

the Worshipful Master , who fully justified all that the writer has said in a former paragraph . The W . M . took this opportunity of presenting to Bro . Hdton , on behalf of the Officors and members , a beautiful gold jewel in r * cognition of past services , which the I . P . M . acknowledged . Other toast * followed , the proceedings being varied with songs , & e ., from Bros . Thomas , J . D . Smith , Pollitt , and Cooper .
