Many of the members were unfortunately unable to attend through seriona indisposition , amongst the regretted absentees beinj ? Comps . W . J . Niobolla M . E . Z ., J . VV . Lambert P . Z .

Treasurer , and A . Gravatt Asaiat . Soj . Comp . J . Glass having very kindly ofi ' ered to represent the Chapter at the next Featival of the Roya ! Masonio Institntion for Boys , the sum of five guineas waa placed on hia list from the Charity Fund of tbe Chapter . Comp . It . Motion called attention to a circular which had been issued by tho Provisional Management Committee of the Royal Masonio

Institution for Boys asking for subscriptions to the Pension Indemnity Fond , with the view of raising a sum of £ 2500 in lieu of granting a pension to Bro . Frederick Binckes , tho object of which is to relievo altogether the Institution from any charge on its funds , and at the same time to recognise the very valuable services of Bro . Binokes and provide Eome means for his honourable retirement from the

office of Secretary after upwarda of 28 years' service , and he moved that the aum of £ 2 10 a ba voted from tho general fanda-of the Chapter tovvarda that purpose . Thia having been seconded by Comp . Gartley , the acting M . E . Z ., waa carried unanimously . The Chapter having been closed , tho companiona partook of a banquet , after whioh the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

THE bi-monthly convocation of this Chapter waa held on Monday , 13 th inst ., in the Freemasons' Hall , Cooper-street , Manchester . This is tho second time the Chapter haa been held in the Freemaaons ' Hall , which may justly bo called tho headquarters of Eaat Lancashire Freemasonry . The Chapter haa not of late been very flonrishing , so far as admitting new members is concerned , as when held at the

Midway Hotol , Lovenshulme , and a chan « o of residence was ultimately decided on , with undoubtedly beneficial results . There were present on Monday , Comps . John Stovold M . E . expressing his pleasure and satisfaction at welcoming so highly esteemed a Companion back to the Chapter . The ballot was next taken for Bro . VV . T . Allitt P . M . Alexandra Lodge , 993 , and VV . M . Avon Lodge , No . 1633 , and was announced favourable . Bro . Allitt was subsequently exulted to the Holy Royal Arch degree by the M . E . Z ., assisted by his Officer .- , during a part of tho ceremony and

afterwards Comp . A . H . Jefl'eris P . Z . occupied tho M . E Z . ' s chair , and concluded the ceremony in an efficient manner . Comp . S . J . Lewis , of tho Humphrey Chetham Chapter , proved a veritable tour de fo r ce as P . S ., and waa most deservedly congratulated for his valuable services later on at tho social board . Various alterations in the bye-laws wore read by Comp . A . II . Jefferia P . Z ., and the

Companions signifying their approval of them , a proposition waa made and carried that they become law . Hearty good wishes were expressed by the visitors and tho Chapter waa closed in peaco and harmony at 7 ' 50 . The Companions afterwards sat down to supper , whioh when finished , the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were pro . posed and responded to . The health of the re-joining member , Comp .
