Great compliment is due to the W . M . for having rendered the three ceremonies in such a perfect manner , especially as ifc was the first meeting since his installation . Later on the customary toasts were honoured , the speeches being interspersed with an excellent musical entertainment , and a most enjoyable evening was spent .
CRIPPLEGATE LODGE , No . 1613 . A MOST successful meeting of this Lodge took place on Thursday , 16 th inst ., at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , E . G ., under the presidency of the popnlar W . M . Bro . Bernard Groner , who is to be congratulated on the altogether admirable manner in which he conducted the affairs of the Lodge on this occasion . He was well supported by the Officers , who contributed to the general effect hy the perfect way in which they performed their part of the work . These included Bros . F . Page P . M . as I . P . M ., F . W . Reddell S . W .,
Arthur Spiegel J . W ., H . Stevenson P . M . Treas ., W . Medwin P . M . P . Z . Sec , Saul Groner P . M . acting S . D ., S . J . Groner P . M . acting J . D ., A . J . Millington I . G ., F . W . Rose D . C , H . Linwood Org ., J . H . Wilson Stewd ., T . Williams Tyler , while among others present were Pasfc Masters Thomas Berg , J . Stallard , 3 . Westerby , G . P . Pointer , & c ; Bros . Percy A . Groner , Adolf Groner , Moritz Wurm , J . Curie , G . Freeman , F . Parkins , A . Flent , H . Tyrell , A . Woolf , D . Mossman , & c .
Amongst the Visitors we noticed Bros . S . D . Fells 193 , F . Webster 1743 , F . White J . W . 1471 , W . Itter J . D . 2551 , A . Wood P . M . 1185 , W . Salman P . M . 171 , R . Barnes P . M . 1261 , W . Ferris , J . Wynman , & c . The Lodge being formed the Secretary Bro . W . Medwin P . M . read the minutes of the last meeting , which were unanimously confirmed .
Bros . Percy A . Groner , Adolf Groner , Claud H . Jarrett , and Moritz Wurm ( the two first named being sons of the Worshipful Master , who is the ruler of the Lodge for the second time ) answered the questions without the slightest assistance , in a perfect manner , and in due course they were regularly passed to the degree of Fellow Craft .
The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and Mr . David Mossman , who had been proposed on the previous meeting by Bro . Arthur Spiegel J . W ., and seconded by Bro . Sigmund Groner P . M ., as a candidate for initiation , was balloted for and unanimously accepted . He was then initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry . Both the ceremonies were perfectly and impressively rendered , and we here congratulate the Brethren of the Cripplegate Lodge on now having so perfect a worker and ruler as Bro . Bernard Groner as their Worshipful Master .
Other items of business were disposed of , hearty good wishes were rendered , and the W . M . proceeded to close the Lodge . The Brethren afterwards adjourned to the banquet table , where an enjoyable repast was partaken of . At its conclusion the W . M . gave the usual Loyal toasts , which were duly honoured .
Bro . F . Page P . M ., in the absence of the Immediate Past Master Bro . S . DaCosta Andrade , proposed the health of the W . M . It was a privilege and at the same time a great pleasure to do so , and he hoped the toast would he honoured with all the enthusiasm it deserved . They had the pleasure of being presided over by Bro . Groner as Worshipful Master for the second time . Not only had the W . M . had tho pleasure of initiating his two brothers
but bis two sons also , which was an honour seldom enjoyed by a Master in the Craft . He was sure the impressive manner "in which the W . M . had initiated his sons at the previous meeting , and passed them thafc evening as Fellow Crafts , would be an everlasting memory to them . The working the Worshipful Master had done that evening was perfection , and it only remained for him to call upon the Brethren to give the W . M . that most hearty reception he so well deserved .
The toast was received with considerablo enthusiasm , as was Bro . Barnard Groner the W . M . on rising . He thanked Bro . Page , the acting I . P . M ., for his very kind remarks , and the Brethren for receiving the toast in so cordial a manner . He really could not find words sufficiently to express

himself for the cordiality shown him . He had been connected with the Lodge since its Consecration , and as long as the Great Architect of the Universe gave him health and strength he would attend to his duties in it . That being the last meeting until September ho asked the Brethren's attention to the Summer outing , and assured them ho vvould do his very best to make it a great success . If they only said the word he would be content to carry it out to the best of his ability , a remark which was received with
applause and hearty approval . The W . M . said he was standing as a Steward for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls at the next Festival . He had been a Steward for the Boys School last year , and was supported to the extent of £ 150 ; he hoped the Brethren would give him the same support on the coming occasion . The Lodge had already voted £ 21 to his list , for which he heartily thanked them . Once again he sincerely thanked them all for their very kind reception .
The next toast the W . M . said was most important to the Cripplegate Lodge , and that was the toast of the Initiate Bro . David Mossman , who was now one of the Crippletonians . By the strict attention he had paid to the ceremony he was sure he would make an excellent Brother . He was convinced he was a worthy man to be received amongst them , being proposed by Bro . A . Spiegel , and seconded by Bro . Sigmund Groner .
Bro . Mossman , replying , said he had long desired to join the old and ancient Craft , — but he had been prevented . Now that he was a Brother amongst them he hoped to be with them for many years to come . He most sincerely thanked the Worshipful Master for his very kind remarks , aud for having initiated him into the mysteries of the Craft ; also Bro . Spiegel for having introduced him amongst them . The ceremony conferred upon him had impressed him very much , and he assured them he would never forget the Obligation , or what he had promised that day .
The W . M . proceeded by giving the toast of the Past Masters , saymg they were not alone ornamental , bnt very useful to the Lodge . They were working Past Masters , as Bros . Saul Groner , and Sigmund Groner had given proof that evening ; in fact , the Past Masters of the Lodge were always ready to render all the assistance that was required of them . Bro . Saul Groner , in reply , said he was pleased to hear the kind remarks of the W . M . Concerning the Past Masters , not alone he , but all of them , would render any assistance that was required of them .
Bro . Sigmund Groner endorsed the speech of his brother , and also said he was always ready to respond to the call of the Worshipful Master , and was pleased to afford the little assistance he had been called upon to render that evening . Bro . H . Stevenson P . M . Treasurer of the Lodge said the W . M . was perfectly right , the Past Masters were always most willing to give assistance whenever required . He had been connected with the Lodge for over twenty years as Treasurer , and now he felt he required a little rest , therefore , as
there were several good Past Masters among them he desired to give them timely warning of his intention to resign the office of Treasurer , an announcement received with many expressions of dissent , our worthy Brother being very popular in the Lodge . Bro . Stevenson thanked the Brethren for their cordial expressions , and for the very kind manner in which they had received the toast of the Past Masters . He had very much pleasure in announcing that they had received that evening £ 51 8 s 6 d on behalf of the Girls School , making a total of £ 71 8 s 6 d thus far for the list of the Worshipful Master .
The next toast was that of the Visitors , the W . M . saying that any Brethren who might pay them a visit could rest assured that they would always receive a hearty welcome . Bro . Barnes P . M . 1261 said he was fortunate iu having been present on three or four occasions . The working he had witnessed that evening was again perfection , and a great credit to the W . M ., as also to the Cripplegate Lodge . The hospitality shown by the members was all that could be desired , and he sincerely thanked fche Lodge on behalf of himself and the other visitors for their entertainment .
The W . M . now gave the toast of the Officers of the Lodge , referring to their different qualifications . He also called the attention of the younger members among them to the fact that there was an Instruction Lodge held in connection with their Lodge , every Wednesday , at 6 . 30 p . m ., afc the Kings Arms , Golden Lane , St . Luke's , and he strongly advised them to patronise it , as without attending Lodges of Instruction it would be very difficult to rise to a prominent position in any Lodge .
The Officers responded in suitable terms , in rotation , and the Tyler ' s toast closed a most happy and pleasant meeting . During the evening au excellent programme of music was provided , the following artistes adding greatly to the enjoyment with excellent songs : Miss Marion Lewis , Miss Amy Spencer , Mr . Jay Kay , Bros . Herbert Linwood , George Freeman , F . A . Hearn , and others . The whole of the musical arrangements were under the direction of Bro . Herbert Linwood Organist of the Lodge .
JUBILEE MASTERS LODGE , No . 2712 . J 71 RIDAY , 17 th inst . — "St . Patrick's Day in the' evening "—witnessed _ the first anniversary of this Lodge , which was celebrated at the Hotol Cecil with considerable success . This Lodge is unique of its kind , because only Masters and Past Masters can become members of it , and though various Lodges are invited to rehearse the three degrees for the instruction and edification of the Brethren at the quarterly meetings , yet thc only ceremony to be regularly performed is that of the Master's Installation .
Another peculiarity is that of following the practice of Grand Lodge in the appointment of the Officers . The Brethren invested for the year give place to an entirely new set at the annual festival , and these Officers are selected by the Permanent Committee in accordance with the services they have rendered to the Craft . The handsome Lodge room was well filled when Bro . Alderman W . Vaughan Morgan , the retiring Master , took the chair , being supported by his Officers , viz ., Bros . J . R . Cleave S . W ., W . S . Hooper J . W ., J . D . Langton Secretary , Imre Kiralfy S . D ., J . A . Harrison J . D ., and H . T . Brickwell I . G .
