THEFT OF MASONIC JEWELS .

MESSRS . Arthur Grey and Gunpat Rai have filed a criminal complaint on behalf of the Chapter Punjab , against Kailas Narian Sherapuri Scribe E . of Chapter Punjab , under sections 403 , 406 and 408 of the Indian Penal Code for criminal misappropriation and breach of trust . The complaint was heard by Lieutenant Croswaithe , Magistrate , Lahore , who , after examining Mr . Rostill , issued a warrant of arrest of the accused , who was arrested in the office of the Chief Court , Punjab , and brought up in custody

before the Magistrate . The Magistrate cancelled the search warrant of the house of the accused , as he voluntarily promised to produce the books and papers of the Chapter . The accused , in the custody of the police , went to his house with Mr . Gunpat Rai , representing the prosecution , and made over the books , jewels and papers , & c , of the Chapter . He was afterwards admitted on bail , the prosecution not objecting . — " Civil and Military Gazette . "
