THE annual meeting of this Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons was held at the Masonic Hall , Great George Street , Leeds , on the 15 th inst ., under the presidency of the Provincial Grand Master Bro . C . L . Mason , of Leeds . More than usual interest was taken in the meeting in consequence of
the announcement thafc fche Earl of Euston Pro G . M ., accompanied by other Grand Officers , intended to pay a visit to the Lodge . There was a large gathering of Brethren , not only from this , but from other Provinces to meet his Lordship .
The proceedings commenced by the opening by the Worshipful Master ( Bro . Thomas Myers ) and Officers of the Copley Lodge . The Provincial Grand Officers were then received in due form , and the Provincial Grand Lodge was opened with the usual
ceremonial by Bro . Mason . The Pro Grand Master and Grand Officers were next received and saluted . The following address of welcome was read by Bro . Blackham , the Provincial Grand Treasurer , and presented to the Pro Grand Master by the Provincial Grand Master : —
MOST WORSHIPFUL SIR —We , the Provincial Grand Master , Provincial Grand Officers , and Brethren of West Yorkshire , tender to you a most hearty and sincere welcome on this , your first visit to this prosperous and harmonious Province . Yorkshire yield to none in their loyalty and attachment to His Royal Highness and to the Officers of the Grand Mark Lodge of England . Afc the conclusion of the Lodge the Brethren adjourned to a banquet . After the toast of the Queen and Mark Masonry had been proposed , the Provincial Grand Master gave the health of His Eoyal Highness the Prince of Wales M . W . Grand Master .
The Eight Hon . the Earl of Euston M . W . Pro Grand Master , the Eight Hon . Viscount Dungarvan E . W . Deputy Grand Master , and the Officers of Grand Mark Lodge was also proposed by the Provincial Grand Master .
The Earl of Euston , in responding , remarked that the Brethren had given him the most cordial reception that he had received in any Province of England . He congratulated the Provincial Grand Lodge on the steady progress in Mark Masonry since their present Provincial Grand Master first occupied the chair .
xn proposing the health of the Provincial Grand Master , he said Brother Mason had ruled the Province for twelve years , and by a unanimous vote they had selected him to rule them for three years longer .
The Provincial Grand Master , in replying , said it was due to the loyalty and support given by the different Lodges that the prosperity of the Province had been so greatly promoted . He suggested that the Mark Benevolent Fund should be placed on a basis similar to that of the Charities of the Craffc .
Bro . Cheves ( Past G . St . Bearer , of Sheffield ) proposed the Visitors , which was responded to by Bro . Woodall Prov . G . M . of North and East Yorkshire ; Bro . J . Masterman Deputy Prov . G . M . of Notts ; the Eev . Manley Power , of Leeds ; and Bro . Morton Prov . G . Secretary of Lincolnshire .
Bro . M . J . Dodsworth Prov . G . J . W . gave the Mark Benevo lent Fund , Bro . Matier Secretary of the Fund responding . — " Leeds Mercury . "
Among the candidates who will seek a seat on the Board of General Purposes , at the annual election on the occasion of the June Communication of Grand Lodge , is Bro . James Stephens , one of the best known Brethren of the metropolis , who has done
much to deserve the support of his fellows , not only by the active part he has taken in connection with the different Lodges with which he is associated , bufc also by his support of the Charitable Institutions , he being a Vice-Patron of all three , while his wife
has also done much for the different Funds , as we announced in referring to her services as a Steward at the recent Girls Festival . Bro . Stephens is W . M . and Founder Viator Lodge , 2308 , First Master Eothschild Lodge , 2420 , W . M .-elect and Founder
Cricklewood Lodge , 2361 , Founder and Secretary Fellowship Lodge , 2535 , P . M . 753 , 1425 , 1608 , 2150 , P . Z ., & c . We hope he will secure the seat he desires on the Managing Board of English Freemasonry .
A magnificent silver cup was given to Sir Charles Barrington ' Bart ., Provincial Grand Master of North Munster , by the Brethren of his Province , on the occasion of his marriage , the
presentation taking place on the 18 th insfc ., at the Masonic Hall , Limerick . The cup is no less than two and a half feet in height , weighs nearly three hundred ounces , and is suitably inscribed .
In our report of the annual visit of Stewards to the Girls School we stated that the Earl of Euston presided . Although Lord Euston was present , and evinced great interest in the gathering , he did not actually take the chair , Bro . Eoberfc Grey discharging the duties thereof , with his accustomed ability .

NEWS reached Pontefract on Saturday of the death , off Cape Verde , on the 6 th ult ., of Brother W . H . Burton Atkinson , senior partner of Carter , Atkinson and Bentley ,
Solicitors , Pontefract . He left Pontefract some weeks ago for a voyage to the Cape for the benefit of his health . He was Worshipful Master afc Pontefract three years ago , a member of the Eoyal Arch , and other branches of the Craft .
ON Friday , 17 fch insfc ., the remains of Bro . Thomas H . Trueman , a well-known tradesman of Whitby , were interred in Sneaton Churchyard . Bro . Trueman ' s family had been identified with the Craffc for an unbroken period of more than a hundred
years , his grandfather having been one of the founders of the Lion Lodge , in 1797 . For many years the late Brother Trueman officiated as Janitor of the Britannia Chapter , and Tyler of the local Mark Lodge .
