— : o : — PROVINCIAL . BENEVOLENCE LODGE , No . 226 . AT tho regular meeting of this Lodge , held at Littleborough , East Lancashire , on Tuesday , the Tth inst ., the following resolution was proposed by Brother Rov . Dr . Salts P . M . P . P . G . Chaplain , seconded by Bro . S . Whittaker D . C , and unanimously adopted :
" That the members of this Lodge beg to record their sincere regret that Bro . John Learoyd the W . M . of the Lodge has left the district for Folkestone ; and they hereby desire to express their best wishes for his happiness in his new homo , and for his prosperity in all his undertakings . "
It was further resolved that the Secretary Bro . Robt . Hudson P . M . forward a copy of tho motion to Bro . Learoyd at the " Chronicle " Office , Folkestone . o o o
LODGE OF UNITY , No . 267 . ON Thursday of last week the Monthly meeting of this Lodge was held at the Macclesfield Arms Hotel , Macclesfield , the Worshipful Master ( the Mayor—Bro . Alderman Fountain ) presiding . His Worship was only installed Master of the Lodgo a month ago , and this being the first meeting since his installation more than ordinary interest was manifested in the gathering . There was a good attendance of the Brethren of both Lodges of the town , several being present also from outside Lodges .
The Secretary ( Bro . Alfred Frith ) read the circular from Provincial Grand Lodge notifying that its Annual meeting would be held at Birkenhead on Thursday , the 20 th September , and inviting as many of the Brethren as could conveniently attend to be present .
The W . M . next read a letter he had received from the Prov . Grand Secretary ( Bro . Newhouse ) stating that the Provincial Grand Master ( Lord Egerton of Tatton ) had been pleased to confer on him the honour of Provincial rank , the office offered being that of Provincial Urand Sword Bearer . He was deeply sensible of the high compliment thus paid—not so much to him as an individual as to the office which he held as Mayor of the borough , for he could
not claim that , as a Mason , be deserved such a ^ conspicuous honour . However , realising to tho full the spirit in which the honour had been conferred and the consideration and kindliness which had prompted it , he had written expressing tho pleasure with which ho had received the intimation and notifying his acceptance of the honour . The W . M . then expressed the hope that there would be a large muster of Brethren at the Provincial Grand Lodge on the 20 th .
The Brethren generally gave cordial expression to the great satisfaction felt at the honour conferred on the Worshipful Master , who- was subsequently toasted in Masonic stylo with three times three . o o o
NEW FOREST LODGE , No . 319 . THE Monthly meeting was held on Tuesday , 14 th inst ., at the Bugle Hotel , Lymington , when there was the usual attendance , including Visitors . The ceremonies of tho day were impressively perfoimed by the W . M . Bro . C . R . Eayball , who next month will bring his year of
office to a termination . In celebration of tee event , nnd to maik their appreciation of his services , the Brethren decided to present him with a Past Masttr ' s jewel in gold , which will be presented at the next gathering .
Tho choice oi a -successor fell with unanimous approval on Brother J . W . Jolliffe the Senior Warden , who will be installed next month .
Bro . P . M . H . Doman P . P . G . S . D . was unanimously re-elected Treasurer of the Lodge—a position he has honourably filled for the past twenty-three years in succession . Bro . Bailey was re-elected Tyler .
At tho termination of the business the Brethren adjourned to a banquet , provided by Bro . Dore P . M . o o o
PEACE AND HARMONY LODGE , No . 359 . fV \ H E usual monthly meeting of this ancient Lodge , whose I warrant dates from the early part ol ilu centuij , was held at the Masonic Hall , Albion Place , Southampton , on Monday . The W . M . Bro . E . Kingman presided , and was supported by his Officers
and the following Brethren * . —J . Patstone P . P . S . G . D ., J . E . Aldis P . S . of Works , T . Lashmore P . M . Treasurer , L . Steele P . M ., T . G . Dacombe P . M ., VV . Jenvey P . M ., F . Cotton of the De Goed Tround Lodge , F . A . Durnsford P . G . Std ., Rev . S . W . Stevens , M . A ., 394 , James Martin I . P . M . 1 * 461 , J . Slater P . M . 319 , Orlton Cooper P . M .
211 , W . J . Wench 433 , & c . The Lodge was opened in due form by the Worshipful Master , after which the minutes of the last Lodge meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . F . R . Gibson being a candidate for the second degree
answered the usual questions , was entrusted , and subsequently passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft . Bro . A . Parry , having proved his proficiency , was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason , both ceremonies being admirably worked by the Worshipful Master .
Reports Of Meetings.
The sum of ten guineas was voted to the Southampton Local Masonic Benevolent Society , and six of the Brethren were elected on the Committee of Management . Bro . J . Patstone waa re-elected
Auditor . The W . M . congratulated Bro . J . E . Aldis P . M . upon receiving Provincial honours at tho Grand Lodgo meeting , in which the Brethren concurred .
A letter was read from Bro . F . J . Jordan forwarding lor the acceptance of the Lodge a sprig of olive wood and a gavel made from a branch of a tree growing in King Solomon ' s Garden at Jerusalem and giving an interesting description of the present state of the Temple .
Upon the proposition of the W . M . a vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Jordan for his present . One candidate for initiation was proposed for tho next meeting . Upon tho proposition of Bro . Lashmore , seconded by Bro . L Steele , a vote of sympathy and condolence was directed to be sent to Bro . John Adams P . P . G . D . C . Secretary of the Lodge , upon the lamented decease of his wife .
This concluding the business of the meeting , the Lodge was closed and the Brethren adjourned to supper , after which a very enjoyable evening was spent .

THE Annual meeting took place on the 18 th July at the Masonic Hall , Poona , when about seventy Brethren , including the Deputy District Grand Master , were present . Brother Captain F . C . Ward Worshipful Master-elect was installed by Bro . Dickie P . M .
The business of the Lodge being concluded , the Brethren adjourned to the banquet hall , where an excellent dinner was provided . o o o
PELHAM PILLAR LODGE , No . 792 . AN interesting presentation took place upon the occasion of the retirement from office of Bro . J . W . Carr , who has for several years occupied a prominent and useful position in connection with the Craft in Grimsby .
Bro . Frank Barrett W . M . alluded in feeling terms to the labour and enthusiasm which had characterised the career of his departing Junior Warden , and paid a warm tribute of praise and admiration to Bro . Carr ' s many personal and public virtues .
The presentation consisted of a sterling silver tea and coffee service , of a neat and tasteful design , and the subscribers thereto numbered the majority of the Masonic Brethren of the town . The cause of Bro . Carr ' s retirement is owing to his having taken a business at Newmarket . He carries with him the good wishes of a host of Grimsby friends . o o o
LODGE OF EQUITY , No . 1384 . ON Thursday of last week the members visited Alsagcr . They arrived in two L . and N . W . spacious saloons , and with a few friends numbered sixty-four . Dinner had been prepared at the Alsager Arms Hotel by Bro . A . Parkes , who is & member of the Lodge , and Bro . B . Whiteside W . M . presided .
The party afterwards engaged at bowls on the green , & c , and were driven in brakes to Moreton Old Hall . They returned to the station for the 8 * 45 train home . The day was fortunately fine , and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves . o o 0
DE LA POLE LODGE , No . 1605 . THE Brethren , together with their wives and friends , held their annual picnic on Wednesday , loth inst ., the place selected being Carlton . The party numbering 100 , arrived at Carlton station at eleven a . m ., and had permission to visit tho Towers and
grounds , and thoroughly enjoyed the privilege . Afterwards they were met by the band and escorted to the Bridge Inn , where Host and Hostess Ramsey had an excellent dinner provided , to which ample justice was done .
Afterwards the W . M . Bro . Tindell , supported by S . W . Bro . Cook and J . W . Bro . East , gave the toast of the Queen andRoyalFamily , which was loyally and musically honoured , led by Bro , Mawer Organist . ..,
The W . M ., in an easy and graceful speech , thanked Lady Beaumont for her generosity in throwing open the grounds and Towers for their enjoyment , which was heartily endorsed by tho S . W . The Ladies' health was also drunk .
The Hull and Barnsley Railway Company were heartily thanked for catering so well for tho party , and the health of tho W . M . was honoured , he returing thanks . The party then returned to the Park , where dancing was engaged in on tho lawn .
Tea was served at the Bridge Inn , at six o clock , after which the rest of tho evening was spent in harmony . o o o

The party , consisting of Brethren of the Lodge , together with friends of both sexes , met in Albert Square , Manchester , shortly after 1 p . m ., and were conveyed from thence by bus through Sale , Stretford , and Altrincham , the first stoppage being made at the Unicorn Hotel , Proceeding onwards they arrived at Bucklow Hill , where another
