T . James were raised to tho third degree in a very excellent manner by the W . M . A Board of Installed Masters was opened , and Bro . D . Haslett S . W . and W . M . elect was presented to the Lodgo and duly installed into the chair by Bro . John Boyd , in a faultless and impressive manner . On the re-admission of tho brethren , and the customary salutations given , the W . M . appointed and invested

his officers : Bros . Leggott S . W ., Lister J . W ., J . Boyd P . G . P . Treas ., G . S . States P . G . S . Secretary , Dr . Wilkinson S . D ., Wood J . D . , J . Chiunery I . G ., Korrill D . C , Curtis and Reed Stewards , and Grant Tyler . The report of tho Audit Committee was read and adopted , it showed a balance in hand of £ 81 18 s 5 d . Bro . T . Bull P . M . proposed , and Bro . G . S . States seconded , that a sum of twenty guineas

bo placed on the list of Bro . J . Boyd , who is a Steward for the next Anniversary Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution . This was ' carried unanimously . Tho W . M . then presented Bro . W . Moult I . P . M . with a very elegant gold jewel , suitably inscribed , for the able and efficient manner ho had conducted tho duties of the chair during his year of office , and in token of the respect

he is held in by the brethren . Hearty good wishes were given , and tho brethren sat down to a very excellent banquet and dessert , provided by Bro . A . Best , ancl superintended by Bro . E . Dawkins , that gave unqualified satisfaction . Tho W . M ., iu appropriate terms , proposed tho usual toasts . Bro . Hyde Pullen P . G . S . returned thanks for the Grand Officers . Bro . Moult

I . P . M . proposed the health of tho W . M . ; ho alluded to his having been initiated in the Lodge , how he had passed every office with credit to himself and satisfaction to the Lodge . After a response from the W . M ., Bro . T . Bull P . M . proposed the toast of the Visitors , and a very able respondent was found for them in Bro . Seager W . M . St . Paul's Lodge . Tho toast of tbe Past Masters was given and

responded to . The W . M ., in proposing the health of the Treasurer , Bro . John Boyd , and Bro . G . S . States Secretary , mentioned that the former respected brother had been twenty-ono years a member of the Lodge and fifteen years Treasurer ; he hoped he might bo among them for many more years . He also referred to tho eminent services

rendered by Bro . G . S . States . Tho toast of the Officers and Tyler was given . The W . M . provided the brethren with a great musical treat . Miss Florence Levander , whose voice is much improved , sang charmingly , and was dcsorvpdly nppWded aud encored . Miss Baxter , and Bros . Lean and Largo also contributed fjonie capital songs .

Domatic Lodge , No . 177 . —This Lodge held its installation meeting at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street , on Friday tho 11 th inst . Bio . Willing W . M . occupying the chair . There was a numerous gathering both of members and visitors , and after the usual preliminary bnsiness was disposed of , Bio . Willing raised Bro . J . White to tlie siiblimo degree of W . M ., alter which lie proceeded to initiate Mr . Alfred Moseley into tho mysteries of tho first degree . The Treasurer ' s

accounts , as audited , were eminently satisfactory . All not entitled to be present at tho induction into the chair of tho W . M . elect , that is to say all brethren below the rank ol installed Master , having withdrawn , the ceremony of installing Bro . I . Buscall , the Master elect was performed by tha out-going Master Bro . Willing , who was not only perfect in the discharge of his duty , but likewise was most impressive in the manner in which he fulfilled it . The new W . On the removal of the cloth , the customary Loyal and Masonic toasts woro drunk , thoso of tho Queen and the Craft , His Royal Highness the Grand Master , tha Pro Grand Master , & c , & c , being received with tho usual enthusiasm . Bro . Willing I . P . M . proposed that of the Worshipful Master , ancl in doing so congratulated him on the eminence

ho had attained in the Lodgo , ancl further expressed his belief that , having regard to the ability and zeal which Bro . Buscall had invariably exhibited , his year of office would be a most advantageous ono for the interests of tho Lodgo . Bro . Buscall , in reply , thanked Bro . Willing for the complimentary terms in which ho had spoken of him , and expressed ^ hope that his prediction might be realised ; that his efforts in behalf of the Lodgo wonld be as successful as he and they

could desire . Ho also thanked all present for the kind readiness with which they had endorsed tho sentiments expressed by Bro . Willing , concluding an able speech by proposing tho health of his predecessor in the chair , to whom ho presented the elegant Past Master ' s jewel which had been voted by tho Lodge . Other toasts woro given , the intervals between being enlivened by music and singing . But there is an end to all things , even to Masonic Lodge meetings , and so the Tyler ' s toast brought the entertainment to a close .

Tranquillity Lodge , No . 185 . —This highly important and influential Lodge held a meeting on Monday , the 20 th inst ., at the Guildhall Tavern , Gresham-street , E . C . Bro . John Peartree W . M . presided . There wero also present Bros . J . D . Barnett I . P . M ., D . Posener S . W ., G . S . Pare J . W ., John Constable P . M . Treasurer , Phil . Levy Secretary , W . D . Bayley S . D ., F . Croaker J . D ., J . M . Barber

I . G ., G . Bilby P . M . Organist , Busch Steward , Potter Tyler ; also P . M . 's Bros . S . Solomon , J . Ross , N . Moss , S . E . Moss , Myers , N . Gluckstein , E . Gottheil , and a considerable attendance of lay brethren . The visitors were Bros . G . L . Walker 429 , Lewis Lazarus , formerly a member of this Lodge , and H . S . Hooper 435 . All preliminaries having been disposed of , tho W . M . proceeded to pass to

the second degree Bros . Barnes , Boas , Kosminski , and Muhsam , and to confer the third degree upon Bro . Feigl . Next in order came tho election of officers for the ensuing year , which resulted in favour of Bro . David Posener W . M ., John Peartree Treasurer , thus returning to the position held by him for the last seventeen years , and only temporarily relinquished in consequence of being elected

Master last year ; Potter Tyler . Tho sum of £ 10 10 s each for the Boys' and Girls' Schools , and £ 10 for the R . M . B . I . were unanimousl y voted , and ordered to be placed upon the lists of Bro . Bayley , Pare , and Gluckstein , who will act as Stewards for these respective Institutions at tho coming Festivals . Supper was then served , and its enjoyments ended , the customary expressions of a variety of Loyal

aud social sentiments found vent . Her Majesty the Qaeen , H . R . H . the M . W . G . M ., Lords Carnarvon , Skelmersdale , and the Grand Officers Past and Present , each came in for a more than usually enthusiastic applause , induced partly by inherent loyalty and cheerful sub . mission to recognised authority ; but more especially by the earnest and fervent manner in which the W . M . submitted the

various toasts . Bro . Peartree s popularity in the Lodge is of long standing , and it must have been highly gratifying to him to find that during tho term of his distinguished but responsible year of office , his conduct has been such as to still more endear him to every member of the Lodge . The feelings of affection were unmistakably manifested by tho hearty applause with which his

name was received , when , in a fow brief but sincere words , Bro . J . D . Barnett I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M . Further ou , P . M . S . Solomon , in tho course of his speech as President of the Lodge Benevolent Fund , most feelingly referred to the many disinterested services of tho W . M . in connection with that fund ; and the enthusiasm reached its height when one of the P . M . ' s , inspired

with the idea that it would add grace to the proceedings , suggested that bumpers should be drunk to the health of Mrs . Peartree , whose many wifely and womanly virtues were fully deserving the compliment . It was not at all surprising that the W . M . faltered in hia reply , so thoroughly was ho unmanned by emotion . With some effort he became more composed , aud responded , in words full of gratitude

with a simple eloquence enly to bo achieved by thoso who speak from the bottom of their heart . The toast of the evening was , of course , that of the W . M . elect , Bro . Posener , who being already a Past Master of tho Upton Lodge is naturally well fitted for tho important post he is about to occupy . The W . M . referred to that brother ' s high qualities as a man and

Mason , his charitable disposition , and expressed his pleasure that the suffrages of tho brethren had proved iu favour of one so worthy in ail respects . The W . M . elect responded in suitable terms . Bro . J . Constable , tho Treasurer , in his response , referred to the honours con . ferret ! upon him by tho Charitable Institutions , acknowledging their appreciation of his slight services in a variety of ways ( three testimonials , handsomely written on vellum , were exhibited in the room ) .

He was proud of the Lodgo iu which he had received his Masonic birth , and through whose instrumentality he was enabled to accomplish his charitable enterprises . Bros . P . Levy Secretary and G . Pare J . W . responded for tho Officers . Bros . Bayley , J . Ross , and Constable assisted iu tho entertainment by a few pleasing songs . Bros . Lazarus and Hooper responded for tho Visitors . The brethren thon separated with mutual hearty good wishes .

Supper was then served , and its enjoyments ended , the customary expressions of a variety of Loyal

aud social sentiments found vent . Her Majesty the Qaeen , H . R . H . the M . W . G . M ., Lords Carnarvon , Skelmersdale , and the Grand Officers Past and Present , each came in for a more than usually enthusiastic applause , induced partly by inherent loyalty and cheerful sub . mission to recognised authority ; but more especially by the earnest and fervent manner in which the W . M . submitted the

various toasts . Bro . Peartree s popularity in the Lodge is of long standing , and it must have been highly gratifying to him to find that during tho term of his distinguished but responsible year of office , his conduct has been such as to still more endear him to every member of the Lodge . The feelings of affection were unmistakably manifested by tho hearty applause with which his

name was received , when , in a fow brief but sincere words , Bro . J . D . Barnett I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M . Further ou , P . M . S . Solomon , in tho course of his speech as President of the Lodge Benevolent Fund , most feelingly referred to the many disinterested services of tho W . M . in connection with that fund ; and the enthusiasm reached its height when one of the P . M . ' s , inspired

with the idea that it would add grace to the proceedings , suggested that bumpers should be drunk to the health of Mrs . Peartree , whose many wifely and womanly virtues were fully deserving the compliment . It was not at all surprising that the W . M . faltered in hia reply , so thoroughly was ho unmanned by emotion . With some effort he became more composed , aud responded , in words full of gratitude

with a simple eloquence enly to bo achieved by thoso who speak from the bottom of their heart . The toast of the evening was , of course , that of the W . M . elect , Bro . Posener , who being already a Past Master of tho Upton Lodge is naturally well fitted for tho important post he is about to occupy . The W . M . referred to that brother ' s high qualities as a man and

Mason , his charitable disposition , and expressed his pleasure that the suffrages of tho brethren had proved iu favour of one so worthy in ail respects . The W . M . elect responded in suitable terms . Bro . J . Constable , tho Treasurer , in his response , referred to the honours con . ferret ! upon him by tho Charitable Institutions , acknowledging their appreciation of his slight services in a variety of ways ( three testimonials , handsomely written on vellum , were exhibited in the room ) .

He was proud of the Lodgo iu which he had received his Masonic birth , and through whose instrumentality he was enabled to accomplish his charitable enterprises . Bros . P . Levy Secretary and G . Pare J . W . responded for tho Officers . Bros . Bayley , J . Ross , and Constable assisted iu tho entertainment by a few pleasing songs . Bros . Lazarus and Hooper responded for tho Visitors . The brethren thon separated with mutual hearty good wishes .
