Cecil Newton proposed the health of the Chairman , which was drunk with musical honours , the compliment being modestly acknowledged by Mr . Stride ; and Mr . George H . Turner , General Manager of the Midland Railway , returned thanks for the Visitors . Altogether a very enjoyable evening .
Parkhurst Theatre . —On Monday " The Happy Life , " by Mr . Louis N . Parker , will make its first appearance in the suburbs of London at this Theatre for six nights only , under the direction of Mr . Ernest Oswald . In addition to having the advantage of several members of the original cast to interpret this very charming comedy , the entire scenery and properties from the Duke of York's Theatre will be used . The plot of " The Happy Life " is original and human , the intensity of its interest holding us spell-bound from beginning to end .
