THE annnal banquet in connexion with these Lodges was held at Newton Abbot , on Monday , the 7 th instant . Bro . Willard was presented with u Past Master ' s jewel , in appreciation of the admirable manner in which he had carried out his duties during the

past year . The Lodge having been duly closed , tho brethren sat down to a banqnet under the presidency of the newly-installed W . M ., Bro . W . Gill . The customary Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . In response to the toast of the Officers of Grand Lodge Present ani Past , submitted by the W . M ., Bro . Clowes responded . On behalf of the Earl of Euston and other Officers of the Grand

Lodge , who had been invited to be present , he explained that but for their prior engagement to meet Admiral Markham at a banquet they would all have attended the installation meeting dnring the afternoon . He thanked the brethren for tho kind manner in which at all times he had been received , and was glad to see the yonng Brighton Lodge in so satisfactory a condition . Alluding to H . R . H .

the Prince of Wales , he said their Grand Master had done excellent work for Mark Masonry , and had again accepted the high position of Grand Master . He congratulated the W . M . ( Bro . Gill ) upon ocenpy-«* g the chair of tho Lodge . He had seeu his admirable work in the Bnrrell Craft Lodge , and fully anticipated that he would carry out his duties to this Lod ge . Bro . A . considered it a compliment to be associated with snch an august body as the Grand Lodge , for he was but a young Mark Mason . He hoped , however , that his work in the Craft would prove that he was not an impostor , and he would endeavour to follow in tho footsteps of the many true brethren who had preceded him . The W . the Royal visits to Brighton . Bro . J . C . Buokwell , in responding , spoke of the great activity shown by their Deputy Prov . G . Master , Bro . Cnrrie . His niitiring exertions had endeared him to all Sussex Mark Masons , aud the Provincial Grand L- * d- * o had Officers who wero ready and willing to follow-in the footsteps of Bro . Currie . Brother Roberts also acknowledged the toast . Ho congratulated the " baby

Lodge" upon its healthy condition . The Province was flourishing , and he expected that another Lodgo would shortly be added to their number . Tho two visits of hia Royal Highness the Dnke of Connaught had passed off Hucc-t-ssfully . Tho Brighton Lidge , consecrated by the Duke , had begun under very good auspices , and he hoped that the augury would be fulfilled . In the absence of Brother

Willard , who had been called away by another engagement , Brother H . W . G . Abell proposed the Worshipful Master . The Brighton Lodge had , he said , opened woll , ancl was in a flourishing condition , ancl while Bro . Gill belonged to it its snecess was assured . Their W . M . hacl done excellent work in the Craft , aud would , doubtless , distinguish himself iu Mark Masonry . He was a true and earnest

Mason , and wonld , ho was sure , increase the prestige of the Lodge . Bro . Gill , who was warmly applauded on rising to respond , thanked the brethren for the hearty manner iu which they had received the toast . He had takeu great interest in the Lodge , and might justly term himself its father , for he was responsible for the petition and the name of the Lodge . He appreciated the honour of being

unanimously elected W . M ., and , to the best of his ability , would carry out tho dnties of his high office . Bro . W . B . Isworth proposed the Worshipful Masters of tho Mark Lodges in the Province , to which Bros . J . J . Abell and J . T . Mnsson responded . The VV . M . gave the Past Master , to which Bro . H . W . G . Abell I . P . M ., in the absence of Bro . Willard , responded . Bro . J . J . Clark submitted the Visitors ,

which Bro . VV . Tebbs acknowledged . The remaining toasts were the Officers aud the Tyler's toast . During the evening a musical programme was ably sustained by Miss Maud Bond , Bro . H . Dyer , Bro . R . Clowes , Mr . L . Mennich , and Mr . T . Lynes , vocalists ; and Mr . Lewis Mennich , solo violin ; the dnties of accompanist being satisfactorily carried out by Bro . H . S . Gates . A recitation by Bro . J . A . Thilthorpe also gave great pleasure to the brethren .

Sir Kt . Crouch P . P . S . B ., the retiring E . P ., the Installing Officer , was assisted by E . S . Knights Aitken-Davies , Jew , Da Pre , Keats , Lord , Cross , Dillon . The Officers appointed were Sir Knights Crouch I . P . E . P ., Thomas Constable ,

Dnnsterville M ., Rev . Dr . Lemon Chaplain , Keats Treasurer , Trout Registrar , Verdi Snb-Marshal , Leonard Almoner , Aslat O . G ., Hare Standard Bearer , Gidley G . The annnal refection of the Preceptory was held in the evening at the Freemasons' Hall , Plymouth . The E . P . ( J . R . Wilson ) presided . Bro . Harvey ' s catering was , as usual , admirable , and a very pleasant evening was passed .

Thc meetings of the Royal Standard Lodge of Instruction , No . 129 S , and of the Benevolent Association connected therewith , will in future be held at the Castle , 81 Holloway Road , N ., on Friday evening , at 8 p . m ., instead of at tho Builders' Arms , St . Paul's Road , Canonbury . The Royal

Standard is a very strong Lodge of Instruction , and over 110 shares have been taken up in the Association connected with it . The Association was well represented at tbe Boys' Festival last year , the Stewards who represented it taking up a list of £ 115 10 s ; while at the recent Festival of fche Benevolent Institution 100 guineas was

taken up , to which an increase of 20 guineas is promised . Bro . Robert P . Angel is the Secretary , and he will readily supply further information .

The Candour Lodge of Freemasons held a grand smoking concert on tho Sth inat ., at the Masonic Rooms , Brownhill Vale , Uppermill , whioh was largely attended by members of the Craft and many visiting friends , tinder the genial presidency of the Worshipful Master Bro . Rolierfc Eastwood . The audience was treated to a really high claas entertainment , consisting of vocal and instramental

inusic by the following well-known amateurs : Mr . James Butterworth , violin ; Mr . Joseph Schofield , violoncello ; Mr . E . Rowbotham , viola ; Mr . William Mallandain , fluto and piccolo ; and Mr . A . Hudson , pi' -no . Messrs . Tanner Broa ., H . Pearson , and Arthur Clare gavo song ? , and Mr . Bent took the part of humorist with conspicuous favour . The c incert was a decided success . Interpersad with the

proceedings the Worshipfnl Master proposed the toasfc of the Visitors ' , to which Dr . Bind and Mr . Thomas Iredalu ruspondod . Mr . William Buckley proposed the health of the vocalists and instraineuiiilists , which was supported by Mr . J . T . Bradbury , and carried with musical honours . The singing of " Auld Lang Syne " closed p , very enjoyable concert .

The annnal refection of the Preceptory was held in the evening at the Freemasons' Hall , Plymouth . The E . P . ( J . R . Wilson ) presided . Bro . Harvey ' s catering was , as usual , admirable , and a very pleasant evening was passed .

Thc meetings of the Royal Standard Lodge of Instruction , No . 129 S , and of the Benevolent Association connected therewith , will in future be held at the Castle , 81 Holloway Road , N ., on Friday evening , at 8 p . m ., instead of at tho Builders' Arms , St . Paul's Road , Canonbury . The Royal

Standard is a very strong Lodge of Instruction , and over 110 shares have been taken up in the Association connected with it . The Association was well represented at tbe Boys' Festival last year , the Stewards who represented it taking up a list of £ 115 10 s ; while at the recent Festival of fche Benevolent Institution 100 guineas was

taken up , to which an increase of 20 guineas is promised . Bro . Robert P . Angel is the Secretary , and he will readily supply further information .

The Candour Lodge of Freemasons held a grand smoking concert on tho Sth inat ., at the Masonic Rooms , Brownhill Vale , Uppermill , whioh was largely attended by members of the Craft and many visiting friends , tinder the genial presidency of the Worshipful Master Bro . Rolierfc Eastwood . The audience was treated to a really high claas entertainment , consisting of vocal and instramental

inusic by the following well-known amateurs : Mr . James Butterworth , violin ; Mr . Joseph Schofield , violoncello ; Mr . E . Rowbotham , viola ; Mr . William Mallandain , fluto and piccolo ; and Mr . A . Hudson , pi' -no . Messrs . Tanner Broa ., H . Pearson , and Arthur Clare gavo song ? , and Mr . Bent took the part of humorist with conspicuous favour . The c incert was a decided success . Interpersad with the

proceedings the Worshipfnl Master proposed the toasfc of the Visitors ' , to which Dr . Bind and Mr . Thomas Iredalu ruspondod . Mr . William Buckley proposed the health of the vocalists and instraineuiiilists , which was supported by Mr . J . T . Bradbury , and carried with musical honours . The singing of " Auld Lang Syne " closed p , very enjoyable concert .
