Major Woodall , representative from the Supreme Chapter of England , proposed the Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland , and expressed the best wishes for its prosperity , and the hope that its members would on an early occasion

figure till 1898 , when the registrations were 1 , 244 , the income £ 1 , 020 , and the total estate £ 8 , 870 . Then in 1892 there was £ 653 paid into the Benevolent Fund , and in 18 9 8 £ 1 , 322 . This showed the true spirit of Masonry—that it was not simply for enjoyment or fraternal pleasant meetings .

These figures proved not only that much greater interest must have been taken in Arch Masonry within these seven years , but that his predecessors in office had done their best to promote the interests of the Order , and that the Supreme Grand Chapter was now in a flourishing condition .

Comp . C . C . Nisbet proposed the Supreme Grand Chapters of England and Ireland , and Major J . W . Woodall replied . Captain Hope Grand Sword Bearer proposed the Grand

Lodge of Scotland , and referred to its progress and present flourishing condition , much of which he attributed to the earnest and energetic work of the Grand Secretary , who last Saturday attained his majority as Grand Secretary .

Comp . D . Murray Lyon Grand Secretary replied , and said he had devoted himself rigorously to his duties , and had the consolation of having the entire confidence of the whole Craft of Scotland .

The third dance of the series arranged for the season by the St . James Lodge , Halifax , took place at the Masonic Hall , and was a brilliant success in every way .
