Election Of Grand Treasurer.

ELECTION OF GRAND TREASURER .

r I - \ HE preliminary Committee pledged to secure the return JL or Bro . Captain Barlow , J . P ., Jf . M . 1260 1012 , & c , as Grand Treasurer for 1901-2 called a meeting for Thursday , 17 th inst ., at the Holborn Town Hall , Gray ' s Inn Road , which was numerously attended and passed off most enthusiastically .

The chair was taken by Bro . J ames Irvine P . M . ol the Whittington and St . Pancras Lodges , P . Z . of their respective Chapters , and j : G . W . of the Middlesex Mark Grand Lodge ; supported by Bro . William Mason Stiles P . G . Tfeas ., Walter Potter ( Hon . Sec . of the Committee ) , and others .

The Chairman informed the Brethren that the meeting was only a preliminary one , called for the purpose of introducing their esteemed Brother to his many supporters ; and for the selection of Officers for the Committee , & c . He enumerated the Masonic qualifications . , and attainments of

their candidate , and said that although there was another in the field , he felt it would be difficult to beat Bro . Barlow . But to carry his case successfully the Brethren must work together , shoulder to shoulder , and they might do that , as he

was really the right man in the right place . He was a Brother who adored Freemasonry , and might be relied on to do everything in his power for trie benefit , of the Office he sought , if elected to it .

The Hon . Sec . read the names of Grand Officers and others who had already signed their names to the nomination list on behalf of Bro . Barlow . Bro . W . M . Stiles P . G . Ireas . said that if every Brother knew Bro . John . barlow as well as lie did he would have the unanimous vote ol the Craft , rhe . Lancashire Brethren

would work lor Bro . Barlow as well as the London Masons , and he felt they might regard ' him as virtually elected—but at the same time he ottered the sound advice to the . brethren that on trie day oi election they must stand loyal to him . 1 he charitable disposition lie lrad shown towards the widows and qrphans of the Cralt entitled rum to their support .
