Promotion In Office.

1869 , on most modest lines , one of the first ventures being the cultivation of three-fourths of an acre of horse-radish , which was grated and sold in bottles , and may be looked upon as the foundation on which has been built one of the most important industries of the United States , which requires more space to do justice to its present proportions than we can now conveniently devote to it . The firm , however , have two great principles in daily practice—promptness and purity . Promptness with them means , all fruits

and vegetables are gathered and preserved on one and the same day , and on the spot in most instances . This means that there is no chance for fermentation , but , on the opposite , perfection in freshness and flavour . But purity is a power actuating the whole system , that is , they employ none but the best seed , best soil , best servants , scrupulous cleanliness . The whole process is open to everyone . Visitors are invited to inspect the plant , and a large number visit the works . This in itself is significant . We accordingly

refer our readers to the London branch , 99 and 101 Farringdon Road , E . G ., where they will not only be able to ohtain muoh information of an interesting nature in regard to the progress of the business , but what must be of even greater general interest , secure many tasty and appetising delicacies which are sure to win further successes for the firm . The London branch is under the able management of a well-known Brother , to whom we are personally indebted for an introduction to the " sweet " pickles of the firm , and other of their dainties .
