Masonic duty , and knowing from report the courteous manner in which all were received at Lodge Star in the East , he decided to accept the honour , and he now stood as a debtor unable to express his feelings . He felt it an honour to have been asked to perform the ceremony at a Lodge where he was

nofc a member , and also to have been proposed by the Worshipful Master and accepted as a member of tbe Lodge . Referring to the Worshipful Master , he felt sure whatever bis name was leat to it was sure to prosper , and he was certain that the Star in the East Lodge would burn brightly under his guidance .

The toasfc of the Worshipful Master was then proposed by Immediate Past Master Ellis , and , in responding , the Worshipful Master said it gave him great pleasure to again occupy the chair of the Lodge . It was ten years since , when lie was Mayor of Harwich , he was first elected to the position . He referred with regret to the fact that Bro . Armfield should , through

illhealth , have been unable to occupy the chair this year , and although he , as a P . M ., had been elected to the position of Master , it was not because Star in the East was not burning brightly . As a matter of fact it was burning brighter than ever . In 1888 there were only eighty members , but now there

were 181 . In 1888 there were only 200 votes for Masonic charities , and now there were 780 . He referred to several members of the Lodge having been appointed Grand Officers , amongst them one of their old members—Past Master Richard Clowes . Other toasts were duly honoured during the evening .

LONDESBOROUGH LODGE , No . 734 . THE members arranged a conversazione , to which ladies were invited , for Thursday , 17 th inst ., for the especial purpose of celebrating the renovation of the Masonic Hall , Bridlington .

FRANKLIN LODGE , No . 838 . THE W . M . and Brethren gave a smoking concert in Shodfriars' Hall , Boston , on Tuedsay , 15 th inst . Bro . R . Newcomb W . M . presided , and there was a large attendance of Brethren and friends . During the evening an appeal was made on behalf of the Masonic Charities , and was liberally responded to .

TEMPLE LODGE , No . 1094 . AT fche monthly meeting of this Lodge , on the 9 th inst ., under fche presidency of Bro . James Wylie W . M ., the members of the well-known Minster quartette , Messrs . Aspinall , Barlow , Atkinson , and Owens , were initiated as members . The popularity of the gentlemen named was attested

by the presence of a large number of Brethren from various Liverpool Lodges . During the evening several vocal items were rendered by the newlyinitiated Brethren and others .

WARREN LODGE , No . 1276 . THE annual installation took place on Tuesday , 15 th inst ., in the Lodge Room , Seacombe Hotel , Seacombe , under the presidency of Bro . W . Davidson P . M . Bro . W . L . Lockyer W . M .-elect was presented by Bros . R . Parry P . M .

and G . W . Makin P . M . for installation . The ceremony was admirably performed by Bro . W . Davidson P . M ., and was fully choral , Bro . J . H . Jackson presiding at the organ . Afterwards the newly-installed Worshipful Master invested his Officers .

At the conclusion of the business the Brethren dined together . Unfortunately Bro . Dr . Davidson I . P . M ., owing to illness , was unable to be present , consequently the presentation of a handsome Past Master ' s jewel , on behalf oi the Lodge , had fco be left over . During fche evening the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

After the ceremony the Brethren adjourned to the Cavendish Hotel , where a sumptuous banquet was provided , and the Masonic toasts honoured '

THE annual festival was held on Monday , 14 fch insfc ., afc fche Masonic Club Rooms , Staiybridge , when Brother H . Edward Clarkson was installed W . M . for the ensuing year . The installation was performed in a very impressive manner by Bro . Elias Wild W . M . After the ceremony of installation and the investiture of Officers , the Brethren adjourned to the Boar ' s Head , where a sumptuous banquet was nicely served up .

At tho rooms of the Masonic Club afterwards , the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given , interspersed with songs and recitations by the various Brethren , Bro . Tom Cheetham playing the accompaniments wifch his usual brilliancy of style .

SALEM LODGE , No . 1443 . rpHlS Lodge held its annual meeting on the 21 st , at the Masonic Hall , JL Dawlish , when Brother S . J . Cox S . W . was inst lied as W . ARKWRIGHT LODGE , No . 1495 . THE annual festival and installation was held on fche 10 th , at the New Bath Hotel , Matlock Bath , when there was a numerous gathering . The installation ceremony was performed by Bro . Joseph Sladen , and the W . M . invested was Bro . G . B . Barton .

ATLING WORTH LODGE , No . 1821 . AT the annual meeting , held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , ou the 17 th , Bro . A , P . Dollman was installed W . M . for fche ensuing year . The Brethren afterwards sat down to a banquet , under fche presidency of the new W . M . The customary toasts were honoured .

BURRELL LODGE , No . 1829 . rplHE members held their annual installation meeting on Monday , 7 th _ L inst ., at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton . At the opening of the Lodge fche retiring W . M . Bro . E . M . Ffennell was well supported by Officers and others .

Bro . T . Shrivell was installed W . M . for the ensuing year , and appointed his Officers . The Lodge was closed , and an adjournment made to the Banqueting Room for the convivial part of fche proceedings , the W . M . being supported by several Officers of Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge .

Bro . E . M . Ffennell I . P . M . proposed fche toasfc of the Worshipful Master . He did not know , he said , a more zealous Mason throughout the Province than Bro . Shrivell , and he was confident that he would be careful during his year of office for the honour of the Lodge and the comfort of the members . The W . Bro . Willie Wright , who , wifch his usual kindness , had provided an excellent programme of music , the following assisting him in the contributions : Bros . Richard Evans , Bartrop , W . W . Lee , Sweetman , and Miss Ella Thompson , who was accorded a very hearty reception and applause for her excellent singing .

PRINCE EDWARD OF SAXE-WEIMAR LODGE , No . 1903 . AT a meeting held on Tuesday , 15 th inst ., Bro . J . R . Martyr was installed W . M . for the ensuing year by Bro . Giles P . M . P . P . G . R . in the presence of the P . G . Secretary Bro . Goble , P . G . Treasurer Bro . Gieve , and several P . G . Officers and other members .

THE October meeting was held at the Masonic HaU , Nottingham , on Monday , 21 st , when a large , representative , and influential gathering of Masons assembled to witness the installation of tbe W . M .-elect Bro . Sir John Turney . The ceremony was performed by the retiring W . M . Bro . J , T . Byng , assisted by Bros . J . T . Spalding P . M . P . P . G . J . W ., and G . W . Hooton P . M .

TENNANT LODGE , No . 1992 . THE installation of Bro . T . P . Kerman as Worshipful Master took place on Thursday , 10 th inst ., the ceremony , which was performed at the new Masonic Temple , being attended by a largo number of Brethren from Cardiff and the neighbourhood .

The W . M .-elect was presented to the Installing Master Bro . John Sheridan by Bro . Thomas Matthews W . M . of the Llangattock Lodge . In the evening a banquet , at which ladies were present , was held in the Banqueting Hall of the Temple , followed by a dance .

LONDONDERRY LODGE , No . 2039 . ON Monday , 7 th inst ., the annual meeting was held at the Masonic HaU , Park Terrace , Sunderland , under the presidency of Bro . William Seott W . M ., who installed Bro . Nicholas Lee .

The sum of ten guineas to the Durham Masonic Education Fund , two guineas to the Children ' s Ward of tbe Sunderland Infirmary , and one guinea each to the Eye Infirmary , the Orphan Asylum , aud the Monkwearmouth Dispensary were voted on the motion of the W . M ., seconded by the I . P . M . The annual banquet was afterwards held in the Banqueting Hall .
