head of the Lodge the Brethren had conferred their greatest honour upon him , and he was perfectly sure that under his guidance the Lodge would lose none of its former lustre . ¦ : Bro . Pizey briefly replied , thanking the Brethren for electing him to the chair , and stating his intention of carrying out the duties thereof to their satisfaction . Ten years ago Bro . Shurmur initiated him into the Graft , and lie had now honoured him by placing him in the chair of the Lodge .
The W . M . had next a very pleasing duty to fulfil , in handing to his predecessor the jewel of the Lodge , which had been conferred upon him by the members as a mark of their appreciation of his services . He then p inned the jewel to Bro . Trickett ' s collar , amid the applause of those present .
The I . P . M . thanked the members most cordially . The jewel honoured him as being a token of their satisfaction , and he trusted he might always honour the jewel . Bro . Shurmur proposed the Visitors , whom he greeted with a cordial welcome . There were so many present that he would not ask all to respond , but would call upon Bro . W . W . West , the
Preceptor of their Lodge of Instruction , and Bro . rred Taylor W . M . of the Warner Lodge , No . 2256 . Both those Brethren gracefully acknowledged the compliment . The Initiate , the Past Masters and the Officers were all suitably complimented ; and the meeting was brought to a pleasant conclusion at a late hour by the advent of the Tyler .
The proceeding's were considerably enlivened by some amusing songs by Bros . Herbert Stockwell , H . Letts Pridmore , and Tom Taylor , whilst Bro . E . C . Holmes presided at the pianoforte . ********** Woodgrange Lodge , No . 2409 .
INSTALLATION OF BRO . GEORGE H . SCRUTTON . ON Wednesday , 16 th inst . the installation of this Lodge , which meets at the New Masonic Hall , Princess Alice Hotel , Forest Gate , was held , and proved one of the most successful gatherings that have ever taken place in connection with it . The new W . M . is to be congratulated on the excellent manner in which he has inaugurated his year of office .
The Lodge having been opened , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot for Mr . W . G . Wootton , a candidate for initiation , was taken , and proving unanimous that gentleman was duly initiated a member of the Lodge .
Then followed the installation of Bro . George Henry Scrutton , the ceremony being most impressively rendered by Bro . A , R . Trew P . P . G . D . Suffolk . The newly installed W . M . appointed and invested the following Officers for the ensuing year : Bros . Jeffrey

********** Ethical Lodge . ON Thursday evening , 24 th inst ., the members of the Logic Club paid a visit to this Lodge , at the Great Central Hotel . Bro . Albert Neville ( son of Henry Neville the distinguished
actor ) occupied the position of W . M ., Harry Nicholls S . W . , Robinson J . W ., and R . Manuel P . M . as I . P . M ., supported by a good number of members of the Ethical Lodge of Instruction , notably Bros . Dr . Achard Preceptor , Davis P . M . Assist . Preceptor , and Swann Secreta ™ .
The first degree was rehearsed , followed by the ancient charge delivered in the most perfect manner possible . On no occasion have we heard the ritual of Freemasonry rendered in so impressive a way . Eulogistic comments were made by Bros . Achiard and Swann , and it was unanimously agreed that the Officers acting that night should be made honorary members of the Ethical . Bros . Neville , Nicholls , and Robinson acknowledged the compliment .

I he Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and Bro . Fappoli was elected W . M . for to-morrow ( Sunday ) . Bro . Cottebrune P . G . P . Prec . in complimentary terms proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be passed and recorded on the minutes for the excellent manner in which the W . M . had worked the two ceremonies , and
this was agreed to . Bro . Seaman acknowledged the compliment , and said that he was initiated five years ago . That was the first occasion on which he had had the pleasure of officiating at the very comfortable quarters of Bro . Purser , but he hoped it would not be the last . He thanked the Brethren for the compliment they had paid him .
