ON our visit to this well known Lodge , on Monday of this week > ve had the pleasure of seeing an excellent meeting under the presidency of Bro . G . Watkinson , with Bros . W : E ; Jones S . W " ., D . E . Dodd J . W ., C . Wetton P . M . acting Preceptor , Dr . Chisholm Williams W . M . 206 acting Secretary , Dr . Christy Clark S . D ., H . Clark J . D ., J . Hoffman I . G ., Kemp , Tabor , J . L . Nissen I . P . M . of the Mother Lodge , Lepine , Bates P . M ., H . E . J . Camp , J . Wynman , and others .

The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of passing , Bro . Kemp acting as the candidate , and being previously examined and entrusted . Lodge was resumed to the first degree , when Bro . Bates P . M . said he was sorry to inform the Brethren that his time was so fully occupied with business matters that he could not possibly continue the Preceptorship . It was with regret he had to resign the position . It was proposed , seconded and unanimously

carried , that hearty thanks be recorded on the minutes for the excellent assistance Bro . Bates had rendered during the time he had acted as Preceptor , and that his resignation be accepted with great regret . Bro . Bates said that in one sense of the word he was sorry that business prevented him from attending regularly , but he could assure them he would always be present when time and circumstances permitted .

Bro . Hoffman proposed that Bro . C . Wetton P . M . should be asked to accept the Office of Preceptor . Bro . Wetton being well known for his ability in Freemasonry he could render great assistance to the Lodge . Bro . D . E . Dodd S . W . in warm terms seconded this nomination , and the W . M . said he had much pleasure in supporting it . The proposition was agreed to , and Bro . Wetton , in a few well chosen words , acknowledged the compliment .

Bro . H . E . J . Camps 206 was elected a member , and Bro . W . E . Tones W . M . for Monday next . His efficiency in the work being well known we expect to see another good meeting on the occasion of his presidency . Bro . Wetton P . M . Preceptor proposed that a hearty vote of

INSTALLATION OF COMP . C S . BROWN . THE installation meeting of this highly successful and flourishing Chapter was held at the Masonic Hall , Sonne Street , Ipswich , on Wednesday , 25 th ult ., Comp . H . C . Ranee M . E . Z . presiding . The minutes of the previous convocation and of a convocation of emergency were -read and confirmed . The report of the Auditors was presented and adopted , which showed the Chapter to be in a very sound financial position .

A Conclave of Installed First Principals was formed , and Comp . Chas . S . Brown H . was installed into the first chair . Comp . Geo . Wm . Senton J . was afterwards installed into the second chair , and Comp . Walter Rumsby into the third . The three installations were carried out in a most impressive manner by Comp . James Terry P . Z . P . G . S . B . Eng . The other Officers were invested .

The business of the Chapter being ended , it was closed in due form and solemnity . The Companions adjourned to the dining hall and partook of the usual light banquet , after which the customary Loyal and Arch toasts were proposed by the M . E . Z ., and enthusiastically received . ## : !¦

The business of the Chapter being ended , it was closed in due form and solemnity . The Companions adjourned to the dining hall and partook of the usual light banquet , after which the customary Loyal and Arch toasts were proposed by the M . E . Z ., and enthusiastically received . ## : !¦

******* Chorlton Chapter , We . 1387 . INSTALLATION OF COMP . JOHN MANN CRONE . THE annual meeting was held at the- Masonic Hall , Chorlton

cum-Hardy , on Wednesday , 2 nd inst . Comp . Alfred Pickford P . P . G . A . S . E . Z . opened the Chapter , and the minutes of the former convocation were read and confirmed . The balance sheet and Auditors' report were also presented and accepted .

But the most important business of the evening was that of installing into office the three Principals , in the persons of Comps . John Mann Crone as M . E . Z ., Joseph Schofield as H ., and John Travers as J . Comp . Henry Nail P . Z . P . P . G . Treas . installed Comp . Crone , the other two Officers being placed in their respective chairs by Comp . J- Crompton P . Z . P . P . G . A . D . C . S . E .

There was a good attendance of members and visitors , among the latter being Comps . Buckley Carr P . Z . Prov . G . J . East Lanes ., T . G . Bromley P . Z . 1375 S . E . P . P . G . Swd . Br ., Charles Shaw , J . H . Marsh , and D . Conway . Letters and telegrams of apology for non-attendance were received from Comps . ' Geo . D . Pochin P Z , 1375 P . P . G . J .
