appreciate his sterling qualities and good worth . Never had a Master taken that position with brighter prospects for the good of the Lodge and Freemasonry in general than this Brother had that evening . They had great hopes of what was to come , and despite all the ups and downs—which every institution and Lodge must experience—he must say that Royal Edward and

would experience a successful period under Bro . Gosling ' s presidency , would be a sphere of usefulness . It was a privilege of which he was proud to have the pleasure of submitting to them the toast , their Worshipful Master , and he did so with the greatest confidence , feeling sure that Bro . Gosling would carry out the dignified and honourable position equal to any of their most worthy Masters of the past .

The Worshipful Master , in replying to the very cordial and enthusiastic way in which he had been received on taking up the presidency of the Lodge , said it would be his great ambition to conduct the affairs of the Lodge with credit to himself and satisfaction to the Brethren . He must , however , appeal to his Officers , for without their assistance he feared he should not be

able to carry out the campaign . He would not be successful unless tne Officers under him attended to his commands , and did their duty . He appealed to every Officer to whom he had given his collar to stand by him in the exercise of his duty , and in doing that they would be upholding the good and welfare of the Lodge .

Bro . Ellwood said he was pleased to rise at the call'of the Master , to submit the Immediate Past Master Bro . G . Mayor . Bro . Mayor had done his work well , and deserved the thanks of the Lodge . Ho repeated that he had been a good Worshipful Master , and as the oldest member he was proud to be able to say so . He had a good successor , and he hoped the Lodge would prosper under his guidance .

Bro . Mayor thanked them ono and all for the kind way in which his work had been recognised . They had been very eulogistic , and while admitting that he had dono his best he feared he had not deserved all their kindness . The Rev . W . C . Buckle , referring to the procedure of the Lodge , appealed to the Brethren to make a point of attending their meetings . In

the past he had done what little he could in the way of lecturer and so forth , and he would undertake to continue those duties , and hoped that the Brethren would enter into the work with zeal and earnestness , so that they might appreciate and better fulfil the objects they had in view . There was every sign that evening of a prosperous year , and he did hope they would all work to further the real object of Masonry .

The W . M . thanked the Rev . W . C . Buckle for his promise of continued assistance .

ARROW LODGE , No . 2240 . nMHIS Lodge , which in point of strength in the Herefordshire Province is JL second only to its mother Lodge , the Palladian , is singularly fortunate in its elections to the honourable and important position of Worshipful Master , says the " Hereford Times . " This year the Lodge has very appropriately filled King Solomon ' s chair with a practical master builder , Bro . Henry Wishlade , a public spirited townsman as esteemed for his manly
