The Secretary announced that the Benevolent Association now numbered 35 members ; also that tho 15 sections would be worked by the brethren of tho Salisbury Lodge of Instruction , at tho Wbeatsheaf Hotel , Hand Court , Holborn , on tho 30 th inst ., at tho invite of the brethren of tho Constitutional Lodge of Instruction .

Thomtree Lodge , No . 512 . —This Lodgo held its bi-monthly meeting on Saturday , tho 20 th inst ., at Thornlio Bank , on which occasion they were favoured with a visit from tho P . G . L . of Renfrewshire East . Tho deputation consisted of Bros . Caldwell D . P . G . M ., Gilmonr P . G . S . W ., McPhorson P . G . Treas ., and McLeand . Thoy wero accompanied by deputations from both tho Paisley Lodges , amongst

whom wo recognised Bros . Andrews R . W . M ., McLood I . P . M ., Fisher J . W ., ancl Somers of 129 , Bro . Anderson I . P . M . 370 , and J . Campbell I . P . M . 128 . Tho deputation expressed themselves as highly pleased , not only with the excellent way in which tho books wero kept , but also with the general efficiency of tho Lodge . Bro . R . Scobie then proceeded to initiate two gentlemen iu a most careful

manner . Ho was ablv assisted by his office-bearers , Bros . R . Fletcher S . W ., R . McEwan J . W , Jardino T ., E . Schindler Sec , R . Hustin S . D ., Water J . D ., ancl Bently I . G ., Bro . J . Clugston carefully Tyling . Tho Lodge was then called to refreshment , when , after " Tho Queen , the Princo of Wales , and tho rest of tho Royal Family , " and " Tho Three Grand Lodges" had been given , tho Master said it gave him a great

deal of pleasure to couple tho toast of the P . G . L . with so good a Mason as Bro . Caldwell . Ho ( tho Master ) mado a point of attending tho Quarterly Communications , and ho always found Bro . Caldwell at bis post . Bro . Caldwell expressed the gratification ho felt at being present . Ho had congratulated tho Lodgo earlier in the evening , but now , after seeing the excellent way in which tho initiation had been

conducted , his only regret was that Col . Campbell had not been present to see that in what was called a country Lodgo thoy could work equal to any in the towns . Ho gave them tho R . W . M . Bro . Scobio , in reply , gave a history of tho formation of the Lodge , and regretted that Bro . Horner , their P . M ., was not present , because he was really tho Father of tho Lodge : ho not only acted as Master , but

actually mado all their working tools ancl jewels , ancl presented them to the Lodge . Ho thus left him an easy task , but during the three years ho had occupied tho chair it had been his constant endeavour to follow in tho footsteps of so worthy a predecessor . In response to toasts from tho chair , tho R . W . M . of St . Mirrens 129 , and Bro . Anderson of 370 , replied for thoir respective Lodges . Bro . Wheeler ' s

health having been proposed , in flattering terms , ho replied , saying ho was glad if at any time , from having had a littlo moro experience , ho had been enabled to fulfil a Masonic duty , by imparting a little light . It was always a pleasure to attend snch a well-conducted Lodgo , and gratifying to find that , last year , 22 fresh candidates had found shelter under tho Tborntree . While it was officered as at present it would remain green and flourish .

St . John ' s Lodge , No . 795 . —The first meeting of the season of this country Lodgo was held on Tuesday , the 23 rd inst ., at the Ray Mead Hotel , Maidenhead . Bro . J . R . Foulger P . M . as W . M ., II . Turner S . W ., C . Gammon P . M . Treasurer as J . W ., H . H . Hodges P . M . Secretary , Deacon S . D ., Nowell J . D . ; ancl P . M . Bro . C . N .

Harvey , ancl several brethren . I ho Lodge was opened , ancl the minutes wero confirmed . Several candidates , whose names had been placed on the agenda paper , wero not presented . After the Lodge was closed , a very excellent banquet was prepared . Tho usual toasts wero given and responded to , ancl tho brethren returned to town early .

New Concord Lodge , 3 NTo . 813 . —Tho regular meeting of this Lodge was held on tho 18 th inst ., at tho Rosemary Branch Tavern , lloxton . Bros . J . K . Gallant W . M ., Cnsworth S . W ., Harper J . W ., G . Sinclair Treasurer , W . II . Main Secretary , Stead S . D ., S . George J . D ., J . Taylor Steward , Speight Tyler , and P . M . ' s J . Emmens P . G . P ., Atkins , Salisbury , and T . Bartlett . The Lodgo was opened ,

and tho minutes wero confirmed . Bros . Chance ancl Picrpoint were raised to the 3 rd degree , in a very able and perfect manner . Bro . Sinclair announced his intention to act as Steward at tho forthcoming Festival for the Boys' School . It was proposed to have a summer banquet at the Alexandra Palace . Tho Lodge was then closed , ancl

the brethren adjourned to banquet . Tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . Thoso of the W . M . and P . M . ' s were given . Bro . Chinncry 115 returned thanks for the visitors . Bro . Sinclair , Trearurer , returned thanks for the Masonic Charities , and Bro . Cnsworth for the Officers . Some very capital harmony emanated from Bros . Hubbard , Wicks aud Brown . Bto . Pitt 8 U 0 was also present as a

As a considerable amount of work had to bo disposed of , tho Lodge was called at 2 - 30 p . m . ; Upon the confirmation of tho minutes , Bros . Key , Sullivan , Percy and Clark were

raised to tho degree of Master Masons , Bros . Vinacombo and Caufiold wore crafted , and Mr . David Legg was admitted to the Order in due form , according to ancient custom . A notice of motion to rescind Bye-law No . 7 , which limits the number of members to fifty , given by Bro . David Posener at a previous meeting , was then fully discussed , and eventuallv carried . Refreshment was then served , after

which the usaal toasts were briefly given , and responded to . Bro . Rogers , a visitor , expressed his thanks for having been permitted to enjoy a very pleasant and happy evening , and trusted to have future opportunities of being present at their gatherings . Various songa enlivened tho proceedings , at which Bros . Engel , Brown , Rogers , and Fenner especially distinguished themselves .

W ., Randall J . W ., Saunders Sec , Rev . 0 . B . Harris Chaplain , Otway S . D ., Sink , well J . D ., Cutler as I . G ., Day Tyler ; Bros . Benning , Gard , Crew , Beart , & c . ; Visitors—Bros . Holmes , Doherty 228 , Higgins 475 , Rest

948 . Business—The Lodge having been duly opened , and the minutes confirmed , a ballot was taken for Bro . 0 . S . Benning as a joining member , which proved unanimous in his favour . The Lodgo was then opened in the second degree , and Bro . Crew was entrusted ; it waa then opened in tho tho 3 rd degree , and Bro . Crew was raised , with

that impressivoness ot ritual and perfection of working for which the officers of this Lodge are notable . All other business having been disposed of , the Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to Bro , Saunder ' s , Sugar Loaf Hotel , where they did ample justice to the host ' s well prepared supper .

Felix Lodge , No . 1494 . —A meeting of this Lodge was held at the Clarence Hotel , Teddington , on Saturday , the 20 th inst . Present—Bros . F . Sumner Knyvett W . M ., F . B . Archer S . W ., Robert Berridgo J . W ., Edward B . Grabham I . P . M ., Prov . G . S . Middlesex , Secretary , W . G . Mooro S . D ., E . A . Woolley I . G . Visitors—Bros . Lieut . Col . Francis Burdett Prov . G . M . Middlesex , S . E . Turner

Lodge of Antiquity 2 , T . E . Woollard , Burdett Lodge 1293 . Tho minutes of the preceding meeting were road and confirmed . Mr . John Westson was then initiated into the Order by the W . M ., after which Bros . Getty , Hunter , Twinberrow and Younghusband were passed to the 2 nd degree , and Bros . Belward and Sadler were raised to the 3 rd degree , tho whole of the ceremonies being performed

by the W . M . in a manner which reflected the hi ghest credit on the Lodge . The election of W . M . for the ensuing year was then proceeded with , the unanimous choice of tho brethren falling upon Bro , F . B . Archer S . W ., a brother who is exceedingly popular in the Lodge , for his amiable qualities and high Masonic attainments , and whoso year of office will be looked forward to with the most

pleasurable anticipations . Bro . Archer having acknowled ged the honour conferred upon him , Bro . D . Nicholson P . M . 19 was unanimously re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . W . Y . Laing P . M . 45 T yler , for tho ensuing year . Bro . Grabham I . P . M . then rose , and proposed that the best thanks of the Lodge bo accorded Bro . Knyvett W . M . for the able , courteous , and efficient manner in which he had presided over

the Lodge during his year of office , and , as a slight mark of respect , the brethren present him , at the next meeting , with a P . M . jewel of tho usual value . This proposition was seconded by Bro . Archer S . W ., ancl carried unanimously . Bro . Colonel Francis Burdett expressed his satisfaction with the manner in which the work of the Lodgo was carried out , and congratulated the W . M . upon tho success

which had attended tho Lodge since its formation . He then "ave the members a few valuable suggestions with regard to the admis . sion of initiates ancl joining members , his remarks being received with great acclamation by the brethren ; he then took his leave of the Lodge , expressing regret that other more pressing engagements prevented his remaining to tho banquet . This was presided over by the

W . M ., and after tho removal of the cloth the usual loyal toasts were given and responded to . The health of the Deputy Grand Master , Grand Oilicwrs , past ancl present , were proposed by Bro . Grabham I . P . M ., and acknowledged by the W . M ., Bros . Knyvett aud Berridge J . W . ( Grand Stewards for the year ) . The health of the W . M . was proposed , and received in the most cordial manner . Bro . Knyvett

briefly acknowledged the compliment . Bros . Weston and Sealey responded for the initiates , and Bro . Woollard for the Visitors . The W . M . next proposed the I . P . M ., Bro . Grabham , who cordially thanked tho brethren for all the kindness received at their hands , and concratu . lated the Lodge upon having elected their much esteemed brother the S . W . as their W . M ., ancl predicted a year of great prosperity for the

Lodge . Bro . F . B . Archer , W . M . elect , was the next toast proposed , and it is needless to say how very heartily this was received by the brethren . Bio . Archer assured tho Lodge that he would do all in his power to maintain tho high position which the Lodge had attained in the two years of its existence , and that he would endeavour to

emulate the example of tho two Past Masters , Bro . Grabham and Bro . Knyvett , who had preceded him . Bio . Berridge J . W . bavin " acknowledged the toast of the Officers , the Tyler ' s toast was then proposed , aud duly responded to , the brethren separating after spending a most enjoyable evening .

There is a Lodge of Prudent Brethren in London . There aro some American Masons who might be benefitted by association with that Aind of Lodge—for example , those who " bavo no time to read . " And chose who can afford almost anything but a subscription to a Masonic periodical . — American Paper .

Lodge of Antiquity 2 , T . E . Woollard , Burdett Lodge 1293 . Tho minutes of the preceding meeting were road and confirmed . Mr . John Westson was then initiated into the Order by the W . M ., after which Bros . Getty , Hunter , Twinberrow and Younghusband were passed to the 2 nd degree , and Bros . Belward and Sadler were raised to the 3 rd degree , tho whole of the ceremonies being performed

by the W . M . in a manner which reflected the hi ghest credit on the Lodge . The election of W . M . for the ensuing year was then proceeded with , the unanimous choice of tho brethren falling upon Bro , F . B . Archer S . W ., a brother who is exceedingly popular in the Lodge , for his amiable qualities and high Masonic attainments , and whoso year of office will be looked forward to with the most

pleasurable anticipations . Bro . Archer having acknowled ged the honour conferred upon him , Bro . D . Nicholson P . M . 19 was unanimously re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . W . Y . Laing P . M . 45 T yler , for tho ensuing year . Bro . Grabham I . P . M . then rose , and proposed that the best thanks of the Lodge bo accorded Bro . Knyvett W . M . for the able , courteous , and efficient manner in which he had presided over

the Lodge during his year of office , and , as a slight mark of respect , the brethren present him , at the next meeting , with a P . M . jewel of tho usual value . This proposition was seconded by Bro . Archer S . W ., ancl carried unanimously . Bro . Colonel Francis Burdett expressed his satisfaction with the manner in which the work of the Lodgo was carried out , and congratulated the W . M . upon tho success

which had attended tho Lodge since its formation . He then "ave the members a few valuable suggestions with regard to the admis . sion of initiates ancl joining members , his remarks being received with great acclamation by the brethren ; he then took his leave of the Lodge , expressing regret that other more pressing engagements prevented his remaining to tho banquet . This was presided over by the

W . M ., and after tho removal of the cloth the usual loyal toasts were given and responded to . The health of the Deputy Grand Master , Grand Oilicwrs , past ancl present , were proposed by Bro . Grabham I . P . M ., and acknowledged by the W . M ., Bros . Knyvett aud Berridge J . W . ( Grand Stewards for the year ) . The health of the W . M . was proposed , and received in the most cordial manner . Bro . Knyvett

briefly acknowledged the compliment . Bros . Weston and Sealey responded for the initiates , and Bro . Woollard for the Visitors . The W . M . next proposed the I . P . M ., Bro . Grabham , who cordially thanked tho brethren for all the kindness received at their hands , and concratu . lated the Lodge upon having elected their much esteemed brother the S . W . as their W . M ., ancl predicted a year of great prosperity for the

Lodge . Bro . F . B . Archer , W . M . elect , was the next toast proposed , and it is needless to say how very heartily this was received by the brethren . Bio . Archer assured tho Lodge that he would do all in his power to maintain tho high position which the Lodge had attained in the two years of its existence , and that he would endeavour to

emulate the example of tho two Past Masters , Bro . Grabham and Bro . Knyvett , who had preceded him . Bio . Berridge J . W . bavin " acknowledged the toast of the Officers , the Tyler ' s toast was then proposed , aud duly responded to , the brethren separating after spending a most enjoyable evening .

There is a Lodge of Prudent Brethren in London . There aro some American Masons who might be benefitted by association with that Aind of Lodge—for example , those who " bavo no time to read . " And chose who can afford almost anything but a subscription to a Masonic periodical . — American Paper .
