AN emergency meeting of this Lodge was held at the Grand Hotel , Manchester , on Thursday , 11 th inst ., for the purpose of raising two brethren to the third degree . There were present Bros . G . Huglifs on 1 Longworth , who had expressed a desire to become Master Masonp , woro examined as to their proficienoy in the former degree , and having answered satisfactoril y , wore entrusted with the test of merit , and retired for preparation . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , when Bro . Hughes

was raised by the W . M . in the very careful manner which always characterises any work which le undertakes . Bro . Longwoith was then raised by Bro . Armitaae P . M ., who was assisted by Bro . Birkbeck S . W ., the latter brother pro 3 euting and explaining the working tools . Those proceedings having been brought to an end the Lodge was closed by virtue at S p . m .

ceremony of initiation could not take place . At the festive board whioh followed , and after the Loyal and Masonio toasts had been disposed of , Bros . Board , Marshall , Steel , Roberts , and others were called upon to contribute to the evening ' s enjoyment , and as a conseqnenco the time passed very pleasantly away .

HOPE LODGE , No . 2153 . r PHE annual iustallation meeting was held at tho Lodge Rooms , J _ India Arms Hotel , Gosport , on Wedcesdny , the 17 th inst . The Lidgo was eotstuntert in 1886 for tho convenience of members of the regular branches of the naval and military services resident in the Gospoit district , of whom thoio aro now nearly 60 on the roll of the Lodge . In 'ho unavoidable absence ot tbo Provincial Grand Master ,
