The Lodge was opened and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The Lodge was then opened in the second degree , and Bros . Hubbard and Pay ton were entrusted , after which they were regularly raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason .

The Lodge was resumed in the first degree , Bro . Gennari was entrusted , and , on resumption of the Lodge , he was passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . The ballot was taken for Mr . George Osborn , who was then initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry .

The Lodge having been closed , the Brethren adjourned to the Crown Room to dine . The toast of the Grand Officers was responded to by Bro . Tijou P . A . G . P . The health of the W . M . was proposed by the I . P . M . Bro . G . Ridout and was responded to in due course .

The initiate's toast was proposed and acknowledged . The health of the visitors was proposed and responded to in a very eloquent speech by Bro . J . D . Burnie , as representing the Grand Lodge of South Australia , also by Bros . J . W . Burgess , A . B . Spawforth , B . Phillips , J . Leach Barrett , and Montagu Woolf .

The musical arrangements were under the care of Bro . A . Kenningham Organist of the Lodge , the total attendance numbering sixty .

CORDWAINER WARD LODGE , No . 2241 . THE regular meeting was held on Wednesday , 18 th inst ., at the Cannon Street Hotel , when Alderman Vaughan Morgan , Treasurer of Christ's Hospital , was elected Worshipful Master by the unanimous vote of the members .

E . P . A Priory of Malta was afterwards opened . The Sub-Prior occupied the position of E . P ., and J . Kinton Bond Prelate ; Sir Knights Lewis and Bell were installed . ( For other Provincial Reports see p . 152 . )

MESSRS . Digby , Long and Co . will shortly publish a book that is likely to create a considerable amount of controversy , entitled " Boer and Uitlander , " from the pen of Mr . William F . Regan , the well-known South African financier , of 41 Threadneedle Street , E . C . The work will contain portraits and map .

WE understand a Limited Liability Company is in course of formation for the purpose of acquiring and carrying on the Parkhurst Theatre , and arrangements are being made for its enlargement . According to the plans , it is proposed to add an imposing entrance from the Holloway Road , opposite

the " Nag ' s Head , " and re-build the present structure , with the addition of circles , boxes , & c . Electric light will be installed , the stage enlarged and fitted with all the up-to-date improvements , and when finished the theatre will be one of the handsomest and most commodious places of entertainment in London .
