The death to'A place , on the Uth inst ., at his residence in Bondgate , Darlington , of Bro . George Johnson Wilaou , in his 81 th year . Bro . Wilson was initiate 1 on 25 th April 1833 , at the age of 25 , at the llestoratiou Lodge , Darlington , which was then held at the Hat and Feather , by a veteran Mason , Bro . Heury Blaokett , whose portrait , painted by Mr . William Bewioke , of Haughton-le-Skeme , was

presented to the Lodge 29 th November 1849 , and subsequently exhibited in the Polyteohnio Exhibibibion which was held for the benefit of the Mechanics' Institute in 1855 . Bro . Wilson was the Master of the "Restoration Lodge in 1835 , 1843 , and 1844 , and again in 1857 . He was appointed P . G . J . D . in 1835 , and in 1846 was appointed P . G . D . C , whioh office he held until 1850 , when he was made P . G . J . W . Upon tho occasion of his Masonio jubilee , 25 th

April 1883 , his portrait was presented to the Lodge by the brethren , and he was presented with a suit of Provincial Grand regalia to mark the respect and esteem entertained for him . He was one of the most regular attendants at the Kestoration Lodge aud at the Marquis of liipon Lodge , of whioh he was also a member , until a very short period before his death . Ho was also a very zealous Boyal Aroh Masou , and was appointed M . E . Z . of the Vigilance Chapter in 1850 , aud subsequently was appointed P . G . A . S .

THIS prominent local Freemason expired , we regret to hear , at bis residence , at Bishopston , on Thursday , the 12 th inst . The deceased gentleman till recently carried on business for many yeara at 23 Bond Street , as stationer and printer , but he retired through failing health . He was initiated a member of the Beaufort Lodge over forty years ago , and subsequently became its Master . With the

late Col . Taylor he took an active part in the formation of the Jerusalem Lodge , and remained a member till the time of his death . He also rendered valuable aid to Dr . Samuel Bryant in starting tbe Vale of Brislington Lodge , of whioh he was for a long time Secretary , and always took a warm interest in its work . He was a P . Z . in the

Boyal Arch , and had passed the ohair in the Knight Templar degree and the Rose Croix . For considerably over twenty years he was Secretary to the Governors of the local Freemasons' Hall , and took an active part in the removal from Bridge Street and the purchase of the new hall . He was a man universally respeoted on account of his extreme kindness and the readiness with whioh he assisted juniors .

BRO . CAPT . C . T . MARSTON

THE funeral of Captain C . T . Marston , of Poole , took place on the 12 th instant at Longfleet Churchyard , aud , in deference to the wishes of the relatives , it was of a semi-private character . Tbe chief mourners were Mr . J . T . Marston ( deceased's father ) , Mr . C . E . Marston ( son ) , and Mr . W . Marston ( brother ) . Deceased was a Freemason , and held a Provincial degree , and a number of the brethren

of the Amity Lodge , No . 137 , were present , aa were also members of the Poole Corporation . The Poole aud South-Western Licensed Victualler ' s Association was represented by Mr , Short ( President ) and Mr . H . Carr Gibbs ( Treasurer ) , and Major Kebbeok ( Bournemouth Artillery ) , and Lient . Jennings ( Poole Artillery ) , and others were

also in attendance . Tho coffin , which was of polished oak , with massive brass furniture , bore the inscription : — " Charles Taylor Marston , Died 8 th May , 1892 , Aged 42 years . " Masonio emblems followed tbe inscription . The coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths . The service was conducted by the Vicar of St . Mary ' s ( Rev . W . 0 . Parish ) .

BRO . W . H . MARWOOD

The death is announced of Bro . W . H . Marwood , St . Hilda ' s-terrace , Whitby . The deceased was the principal of the well known firm of shippers , Messrs . T . Marwood and Sons , and was a P . M . of the local Lodge .

BRO . JOSEPH BARRON

WE regret to have to announce the demise of Bro . Joseph Barron , one of the oldest and most esteemed tradesmen iu Koswick . Tho deceased gentleman was one of the oldest members of the Greta Lodge , No . 1073 , being initiated iu the early years of the Lodgo in Keswick .

The decision of tho Benevolent Institution , as communicated by the Treasurer of the Fond to the annual meeting held last week , to the effect that the accounts of the Charity will in future be sent out with the ballot papers , cannot fail to meet with general approval . The

Benevolent Institution is in such a position as to be able to face any criticism levelled against its financial transactions , and no good can possibly accrue from keeping the monetary affairs in a semi-secret fashion . If there is any

room for improvement thera is no reason to keep back tho starting of it , while if there is no cause for grumbling many will be satisfied who have hitherto regarded the affairs with something akin to doubt .

In connection with the Blackpool Lodge , No . 1476 , tho installation of Bro . James Anderson S . W . as Worshipfnl Master by Bro . T . Bickerstaffe W . M ., and investiture of Officers , took place , on tho 10 th instant , afc tho Clifton Arms Hotel , Blackpool . Mr . Harling catered for tho banquet , and after tho business was over the usual toasts were given .

Lodge Dundas , No . 1255 , at their annnal meeting on the 16 th instant , at the Freemasons' Hall , Plymouth , elected Bro . W . H . Botterell W . M ., and re-elected Brothers S . J . Hearle Treasurer , S . B . Harvey Representative at Committee of Petitions , Jno . Hammond Charity Steward , and W . H . Phillips Tyler .

The meetings of the Westbourne Lodge of Instrnction , No . 733 , will be held at the Red House Hotel , St . John ' s

Wood Road , N . W ., on and after Monday , the 30 th instaut , at 8 p . m .

In consequence of the Baak Holiday the June meeting of the Council of the Boys' School will not be held till the llth proximo .

A pleasing ceremony took place at the Masonio Hall , Ipswioh , oa Wednesday , the llth instant , when bhe Worshipful Master ( Brother W . J . Whitehead ) was the reci pient of a handsome illuminated address and Algerian onyx clock . The Senior Warden ( Bro . W . H . Cook ) , in making the presentation , spoke iu high terms of the W . M ,

Tho clock , which bore the following inscription : —Presenbed by tha Officers aud brethren of St . Luke ' s Ledge of Freemasons , No . 22 S , to Bro . W . J . Whitehead AVorshipful Master , on the occasion of hia marriage , April 1892 , " —was supplied by Messrs . Benson and Son , o £ London .

In order to show their esteem for Bro . Thomas Hioka P . M . P . P . G . J . W ., likewise their appreciation of the services he haa rendered , not only to their Lodge , but to Freemasonry in general , the membera of Lodge Duke of Cornwall , No . 1529 , have presented him with a Past Master ' s jewel of solid gold . The presentation waa

made in an eloquent speech by Bro . E . W . Whitley P . M ., at tho Lodge meeting on Wednesday , the llth inst ., and Bro . Hicka made a most appropriate reply . After bhe meeting bhe members , together with several visitors from Truro and other Lodges , sat down to a very nice supper at the Bed Lion Hotel .
