THE installation festival was held in the lown Hall , Weston-Super-Mare , on Tuesday , the 10 th inst ., when Bro . Worlock was installed as W . M . for tho ensuing year . The Installing Master was Bro . Millman P . M ., who impressively performed the ceremony , Assisted by P . M . ' s Bros . Phelps , White , Perrett , Perrin , Heath , Gonld , & o . Tho W . M . afterwards invested the following as Ollicors of theLodge : —Bros . Millman S . W ., Penley J . W ., Rev . P . Upstone

Chaplain , Perrett Treasnrer , Vigor Secretary , Adams S . D ., Mac kenzio J . D ., Perrin D . C , Lawnsdown Organist , Jotobam I . G ., Windon Tyler . The following visitors signed the register : —Bros . Major-Geneial Vizard 761 , Small 761 , Weston 2407 , Edwards 2407 , Northcote 702 , Worlock 1296 , and Gould . The banqnet was served by host Brain , at the Swan Hotel , the largo room being handsomely decorated for the occasion . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to .

ST . BARNABAS LODGE , No . 948

THE brethren held their annual meeting on Tuesday , 3 rd inst ., the occasion being tbe installation of tho new Master . The meeting was called for two o ' clock , and by a dispensation granted by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master for Bucks was allowed to meet in the school-room belonging to Snnnyside Honse , Linslade . Besides the brethren belonging to the Lodge , a nnmber of visitors wero

present , among whom wo noticed Bro . Lano , Berkhampstead ; Bros . Spendlove , Platten , Pearson , Morcom , McCubbin , Simms , Martin , Wilson , Rowe , Palmer and Hodgkinaon . The Lodge being opened , the Secretary ( Bro . Poynter ) read the annual report and the financial statement for the past year . Tho Treasnrer ( Bro .

Fountaine ) reported that he had a balance in hand of over £ 17 . During the year ten new members had been admitted , and one had resigned , leaving forty-four as the number of names now on tho books . Daring the year £ 20 had been given in charity to tho orphans , tlio aged , aud the distressed . The outgoing Master ( Bro . Mackrill ) performed the

ceremony of installing his successor . This he did with that ability and perfection which has characterised his work throughout the year . The new Officers are Bros . Hill W . M ., Mackrill I . P . M ., Cliffo S . W ., Wagstaff J . W ., Fountaine P . M . Treasurer , Poynter P . M . Secretary , Hobson S . D ., Hubbard J . D ., Hunt I . G ., Phillips and

Miller P . M . Stewards , Whitman Tyler . Dnring the ceremony tho W . M . presented a beautiful gold jewel , tho gift of tho Lodgo , to Bro . Mackrill , as a token of esteem and appreciation of his services during the past year . After receiving the congratulations of the assembled brethren , the new Master closed the Lodge . The usual banquet was

afterwards held in the Masonio Hall , Elephant and Castle Hotel . The room , which had been recently renovated , was tastefully decorated with flowers , provided by Mr . Martin , of the Linslade Nurseries . The menu embraced all the delicacies of the season , and was catered for by Mr . J . J . Wood , of Leighton Buzzard . Several loyal and

complimentary toasts were proposed and responded to . Dnring the evening a mosfc pleasing episode took place . Tho Immediate Past Master presented Bro . Poynter P . M . Secretary with a very handsome testimonial , which has been subscribed for by the members of the Lodgo . It was a beautifully illuminated address , framed and

glazsd . The design is quite a work of art , iind is said to be a copy of tho frontispiece of the Missal used by Mary Queen of Scots immediately before her decapitation . The colours are exceedingly brilliant ; tho corners are emblazoned with Masonic emblems , and

tho centre contains a fac-similo of the Lodgo banner , with the figure of St . Barnabas surrounded by the name and nnmber of the Lodge . It is painted ou best vellum , and framed in a neat whito beading , edged with gold and floral designs . The inscription is as follows : —

Province of Buckinghamshire . Presented , with a purse of fifty sovereigns , to Bro . HKNRV POYNTBB P . M . P . G . J . W . Berks and Bncks , By tho Brethren of the above Lodge , and a few personal friends in tho Craft , in grateful recognition of his services , as Secretary ,

dnring a period of twenty-one years . May 3 rd 1892 . To thia is appended the names of tho Officers . Bro . Poynter , in his reply , thanked tho brethren generally , but especially Bro . Mackrill , with whom the project originated , and Bros . Wagstaff and

McCubbin for so successfully carrying oufc tho work , remarking that , however acceptable the money might be , tho address was still more valuable , as ifc would remain a memento of the goodwill and of the confidence of tho brethren in years to como . Tho company had a very pleasant evening and separated at an early hour .

A REGULAR meeting wns held at the Cross Keys' Hotel , on Thursday , the 19 th instant . This is the first meeting since tho installation of Bro . Tom Wood that the worthy W . M . has been able , owing to his long illness , to preside , and it is scarcely necessary to add he was welcomed on all sides . Amongst those present wero Bros . Tom Wood W . M ., Bronghton S . W ., Hugh Rowlands P . M . acting J . W ., Joseph Loes P . M . Treasurer , Wm . Comer jun . P . M . P . G . D . C .

Secretary , Pears S . D ., Ambler J . D ., Keys I . G . ; Bros . Boycott P . M ., Grundy , Martendale , Mather , Budgeon , Jackson , Cartwright , Hooper , and Tournas . Visitors—George Macfarland P . M . 1633 , and R . R . Lisenden P . M . 317 P . P . G . Steward . The Lodge was opened at six o ' clock , and tho minntes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed . Iu tho second degree Bros . Martendale and Tournas ,

who were candidates for raising , answered the necessary questions , received the test of merit , and retired . Subsequently Bro . Marten , dale was raised to tho sublime degree by Bro . Joseph Lees P . M ., and Bro . Tournas by the W . M . The mann , er in which Brother Wood performed the ceremony showed dearly thafc during his illness how anxious he must have been to attend his Lodge duties , and his

determination , should the G . A . O . T . U . spare him , to perform thoso duties creditably . His earnestness and natural manner while performing the ceremony unmistakably made a profound impression on the candidate , as it also did on the brethren present . Bro . Joseph Lees related the traditional history , explained iho tracing board , and presented the working tools to both candidates , after which the Lodge

was lowered , and closed in due form . The brethren having supped together , the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed , including the health of the newly raised brethren , who responded . Bro . Wm . Corner jun ., in rising to propose tbo health of the W . M ., said it was always a pleasure to propose this toast , but on the present occasion it was doubly so , owing to Bro . Wood ' s absence from tho Lodgo

meetings throngh illness . He assured the W . M . thafc during his enforced retirement from their midst , a cloud seemed to hang over the Lodge , and duluess reigned . Every one present afc thoso meetings was sensitive of the cause , and deeply lamented ifc , bufc now , thanks to the G . A . O . T . U ., who had restored their W . M . once moro to good health , tho cloud was dispelled , and they were all

delighted beyond measure to see him once more with them , and extend to him tho right hand of fellowship and brotherly love . Bro . Corner continuing , said the brethren might nofc bo aware of fcho fact , but wonld be pleased to hear that during the W . M . ' s illness he had , when not in for much pain , studied the ceremonies of initiation , passing , and raising , and if he had been well enough to attend their

meeting in April , could have performed all three . This showed how thoroughly in earnest he was , and if proof was required ifc waa amply illustrated that evening by the impressive manner he had performed the ceremony of raising . In conclusion , Bro . Corner said he hoped the day would be far distant when their W . M . would be compelled to absent himself from the Lodgo on account of ill-health , and in wishing him health , wealth , and prosperity , he was sure he echoed

the feelings of every member of the Lodge . Bro . Wood a health was heartily drank , and fche brethren sang the chorus of " Here ' s to his health in a song . " Subsequently the W . M . responded , and after thanking Bro . Corner for his kind remarks , and the brethren for thoir exhibition of good feeling , said he had no idea he had so many good friends , who daring his illness had never ceased to make daily inquiries as to bis progress .

THE annual installation and banquet took place ab the Old Ship Hotel , Brighton , on Saturday , the 7 th instant . There wns a very largo assemblage to greet the retiring W . M . Brother Charles Aubrey Smith , and tho Worshipfnl Master elect Bro . Major Walter Bennmont . The installation and working was admirable , tho retiring W . M . acquitting himself faultlessly . Brother Beaumont having been

duly installed , invested his Officers , as follow : —Bros . E . D . Akorman S . W ., II . D . Willock J . W ., C J . Smith Treasnrer , J . P . Slingsby Roberts Secretary , C . It . Foster S . D ., W . J . Gordon J . D ., P . Slingsby Tanner I . G ., Norman Roe Organist , F . Carr and J . G . Allen Stewards . Work concluded , tho brethreu adjourned to tho ball-room , and under

the presidency of tho newly-installcd W . M . Bro . Beaumont partook of a choice banquet , refreshed by vory good wine . Following grace , tho customary Marine toasts were woll proposed and duly honoured , that of the Worshiptul Master of tho Lodgo meeting with groat

enthusiasm . Miss Maud Bond and Miss A . T . Day also charmingly entertained by their beautiful singing , Bro . Norman Roe accompanying . The proceeding throughout were thoroughly worthy of the Hova Ecolesia Lodge .
