Grand Officers present , as well as representatives from every one of tho twenty-two Lodges in the Province . In

short , the handsome Lodge-room was crowded , and presented a very imposing appearance . The usual formalities

having been observed , the Worshipful Masters of the various Lodges presented their annual reports . Without asiuglo exception , these documents were of the most satisfactory character , containing as they did evidence of internal harmony and prosperity , and of increasing regard for the

splendid Charities of the Fraternity . The report of the Masonic Hall Committee referred to a considerable number of improvements which have either been effected or are in contemplation , and which are all designed to promote the comfort of the brethren . On the motion of Bro . Sir John Smith , Chairman of the Committee , seconded by Brother Waltersit was adontfid . In the absence of Brother G . T . . __ — __ .

It set forth that the full voting power of the Province would be required during the coming year , and , the brethren were earnestly requested to strengthen the hands of the Committee . The Auditors' Report , which

was'Satisfactory , contained an intimation to the effect that a donations of £ 100 has been given by Bro . Colonel John Evans , and is now in the hands of the Provincial Grand Treasurer , towards the alteration and extension of the ante-room accommodatidn iix the Masonic Hall , on condition , that definite steps be taken to carry out this object within two years from 1 st January 1889 i Bro . Thomas

Cox remarked that he had for a period of nearly a quarter of a century acted as Provincial Grand Treasurer ; but he had . decided to tender his resignation of that office . Accordingly a few of them had met and resolved to take steps to promote the election of a brother who was well known and respected to them all ; he meant Bro . Thomas ROB . been connected , with the Order , and had been a generous and consistent supporter of their Charities . Moreover , although he was one of the oldest of their Past Masters , he had not hitherto held an office in Provincial Grand Lddge . Referring to observations which had been made on a previous occasion as to the wisdom of appointing

a Buxton brother as Provincial Grand Treasurer , Bvo . Cox warmly insisted upon keeping such purely business departments as those of the Provincial Grand Secretary and the Provincial Grand Treasurer in Derby . He moved the appointment of Bro . Roe . The proposition was seconded by Bro . Woodiwiss , and carried without a single dissentient . Bro . Roe , who was cordially received , briefly acknowledged

tho honour done him , and promised that his endeavour should be to discharge the duties of the office as faithfully as they had been performed by his worthy predecessor . A heaity and unanimous vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Cox for his past services , the Deputy Provincial

Grand Master , Bro . Marsdeu , and others dwelling forcibly upon tho valuable and disinterested character of his labours . A representative committee was also appointed with the object of devising some appropriate method of recognising his long official connection with the Provincial Grand

Lodge . On the motion of Bro . Percy Wallis , Bro . G . T . Wright was unanimously re-elected Chairman of the Charity Committee , and a similar compliment was paid to the members of the Masonic Hall Committee of

Management . The Deputy Provincial Grand Master then proceeded to invest the Provincial Grand Officers for the ensuing year , in the following order : —

After the transaction of some formal business , it was resolved , on tho motion of Bro . Percy Wallis , that Bro . J . H . Lawson be the Steward of the Provincial Grand

Lodge at the next Festival of the Bays' School . It was farther resolved that the candidature of Bro . J . M . M'Leod , P . M . of the Derwent Lodge , for the Secretaryship of the Masonic Institution for Boys , be recommended to the

support of the brethren in tho Province . Before closing the Provincial Grand Lodge , the Deputy Provincial Grand Master addressed a few impressive observations , expressive of his gratification at the moral and material advancement of the Fraternity in Derbyshire . At the conclusion of the business * a very large number of the brethren dined together at tho Royal Hotel , the manager of which establishment , Mr . H . Keyl , mado abundant provision for their enjoyment .

W ., E . R . Hayter Treasurer , J . J . White Secretary , W . P .

rriHE installation meeting of thia Lodge was held on Saturday , the JL 14 th inst ., at the Brixton Hall , Acre-lane , Brixton , when , aa there was a considerable amount of business to be transacted , the Lodge was opened at 3 p . m . in the absence of Bro . R . J . Griffiths W . M ., the Lodge was opened by Bro . Massey P . M . and Treasurer , as acting W . M . The minutes of last regular meeting having been read

and confirmed , the report of the Audit Committee was presented and received . The ballot was then taken for the following joining members : —Bros . H . J . Fisher 93 , and Frederick W . Brodie , formerly Secretary 1254 , aud was found to be unanimous in favour of their admission . The Dext business wa 3 to tako the ballot for the following

candidates for initation , naraaly : —Mr . George H . Ribbons and Mr . Henry Lewis Bell ; it being declared in favour of their admission , thoy were initiated by Brother Massey . The Lodgo was then called off for refreshment , preparatory to the installation of tho W . M . elect , Bro . Herbert Wright the S . W . of the past year , who had been

unanimously elected by the Lodge to tho office of Master for the ensuing 12 months . Upon the brathren being summoned to resume labour , Bro . Wright was presented to Bro . Massey , as Installing Officer , to receive at his hands the benefit of installation , whereupon Bro . Massey addressed the brethren present upon the practice among Craft Lodge 3

in reference to the annual electiou and installation of the presiding Officer , and he , having afterwards pointed onfc to the W . M . elect the qualifications necessary in a candidate for the chair , directed his attention to the Secretary , who recited the ancient charges , to all of whioh the W . M . gave his unqualified assent . Bro . Wright then took

the obligation of a W . M . elect , and all brethren below the rank of Installed Master having retired , a Board of Installed Masters waa formed , in whose presence Bro . Wright was installed into the chair of K . S ., and received the salutations and congratulations of the members of the Board of Masters . The brethren were then re-admitted , and

the newly-installed Master was proclaimed and saluted in the three degrees . Bro . Wright then proceeded to invest his Officers , of which the following is a list—Bros . W . T . Perkins S . W ., R .
