THE installation meeting ot this prosperous Lodge was held on Tuesday , 25 th inst ., at the City Terminus Hotel , Cannon . street , there being a large attendance of the brethren throughout the evening . The minutes of last regular Lodge meeting were confirmed . Report of the Audit Committee and balance sheet were next read by the Secretary , and approved . Among items in the balance sheet were Grand Lodge dues £ 24 7 s , carriages for attending the late Bro .

C . Coote's funeral £ 2 16 s 9 d , repairs to furniture , new jewels , & o . £ 11 Os 66 , Lodge Benevolent Fund £ 15 7 s 6 d , Charities £ 7 7 s 3 d , together £ 22 14 s 9 d , and Mansion House Relief Fund for Distress in Ireland £ 5 5 s . There was a balance in hand of £ 54 9 s 3 d . Ballots having been taken , and declared unanimous , Bro . Joseph Israel 1502 was admitted as a joining member , and Mr . Sam . Hy . Philcox and Mr .

Phillip Oestermann were duly initiated . Bros . J . Jacobs , M . Jacobs , S . Jacobs , and C . M . Anderson were passed , and Bro . A . Z . Gartley was raised to the sublime degree . Lodge was resumed , and Bro . H . J . Phillips , W . M . elect , having been presented to the sitting Master Bro . T . Norden , proceeded to instal his successor in the chair of K . S . The ceremony was admirably worked , and elicited high eulogiams

M . with a jewel , which was the unanimous vote of the Lodge , and in a few words gracefully complimented him upon having discharged the duties of his year of office to the entire satisfaction of the brethren . After the transaction of some routine business , Lodge was closed , and the brethren sat down to a sumptuous repast , under the presidency of the W . Master , and the Loyal and Craft toasts were enthusiasts call y received . The Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , which is in connection with this Lodge , holds its meetings at the Portugal Hotel , ileet Street , every Friday evening , at seven o ' clock .

TENTERDEN LODGE OF MARK MASTERS , No . 251 .

THE annnal installation meeting of this Lodge was held on Saturday evening , 15 th iust ., at Anderton ' s Hotel , Floet-street , under the presidency of Bro . S . J . Tnrquand , the retiring W . Master . After confirmation of the minutes of previous meetings , the report of the Audit Committee was presented , and unanimously adopted . A ballot was then opened for Bro . James F . Lovelock , Duke of Connaught Lodge , as a joining member , proposed by the W . Master , and

seconded by Bro . Walter T . Christian P . M . and Sec , and also for Bro . Arthur Medworth , of London Wall , proposed by the W . Master elect , and seconded by Bro . Nicholson . Both wero accepted unanimously , aud Bro . Medworth was duly advanced to the Mark degree . Bro . W . A . Gimmingham was then presented for installation as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being performed in masterly

style by Bro . S . Turquand I . P . M . Tho newly-installed W . Master then invested his Officers for tho year , as follow : —Bros . S . J . Turquand I . P . M ., Silvester S . W ., Blackmau J . W ., Halloway M . O ., Nioholson S . O ., Pergeter J . O ., Walker S . D ., Smith J . D ., Lovelock I . G ., Medworth D . C . The brethren subsequently sat down to a recherchi banquet , served in a style for which this old-established hotel is renowned . Bro . Clemow ' s arrangements for the comfort and

enjoyment of the party elicited general applause , and the customary Loyal and Mark toasts were proposed and received with due honours . Tho very enjoyable proceedings were interspersed with some excellent vocal and instrumental musio , the arrangements for which wero under the direotion of Bro . Cozens . Among the Visitors were Bros . H . Venn , J . E . Pinder , F . H . Cozens , Hubbard , Fredk . Binckes , C . F . Matier , & c .

In addition to the services recorded in our last issue as having been rendered by the Masonic Lifeboat , the " Albert Edward , " a noble effort was made to save a portion of the crew of the ill-fated Indian Chief , but was unfortunatel y unsuccessful . The boat was out on that occasion for

twenty-four hours . For these services the National Lifeboat Institution has made very liberal payments to the crew of the lifeboat , and in reference to the services of the boats of the Institution generally , we may mention that during the

recent storms they have saved the following shipwrecked crows : —

French Ketoh " Manne de Ciel , " 4 ; Dutch steamer " Enerst , " 7 ; Spanish brigantine " Rossetta , " 8 ; ship ' * Indian Chief , " of Liver , pool , 12 ; barque " Hertha , " of Christiansund , rendered assistance ; brigantine " Hasselo , " of Haguesund , 8 ; schooner " Minnie Coles , " of Southampton , saved vessel and crew ; brig " Visitor , " of Whitby ,

6 ; s . s . " Trafalgar , " of London , 23 ; barque " North Wales , " of London , 21 ; schooner " Rosa Joseph , " 5 ; smack " Fishguard Lass , " of Abersoch , 3 ; schooner " Miss Beck , " of Carnarvon , 5 ; fishing boats , " Magdalen , " and Star of Peace , " 12 ; two fishing boats

of Berwick-on-Tweed , saved boats and 9 ; fishing coble " Lively , " of Redcar , 2 ; several fishing cobles , rendered assistance ; sloop "Ruby , " of Goole , assisted to save vessel and 2 ; Norwegian schooner , 3 ; brig " Matilda , " of Gothenberg , rendered assistance ; and brig " Gyda , " of Swensdall , 9 ; total , 143 lives , besides 4 vessels .

INSTALLATION OF BRO . H . C . E . MUECKE AS R . W . D . G . M . SCOTTISH CONSTITUTION .

THE most imposing ceremonial that has ever taken place in South Australia in connection with the Masonic Order was the instal - lation of Bro . H . C . Mnecke as Right Worshipful District Grand Master of the Scotch Constitution , which took place in the Adelaide Town Hall , on Tuesday , 30 th Nov . With the growth of the colony the numbers of the Freemasons have correspondingly increased , and although the dignity of the official positions in connection with the

mystic tic has the same significance in a small as in a large community , yet the representative character of such an office as that of D . G . M . must necessarily be greatly enhanced as the strength and portance of the Order is developed in a comparatively new colony . The installation of Bro . Mnecke was thereforo made the occasion of a very important demonstration on Tuesday , when officers and members

from Lodges in the most distant parts of the country attended to take pai't in the ceremonial . The office to which Bro . Muecke has just been appointed was formerly held by Bro . C . H . T . Connor , who retired a short time since on account of ill-health . The members of the Grand Lodge assembled at the Town Hall at 7 . 30 p . m ., and when the visiting members from Hie other Lodges had arrived , to the

number of npwards of 500 , the hall wore a very imposing appearance , which was heightened by the display of the various insignia appro , priate to the occasion . The Lodge was opened b y an impressive service in which the R . W . Allan Quin G . S . W . officiated as Installing Master , assisted by Bros . J . Wallace as Senior Warden , A . Hall Junior Warden , and the Rov . Canon Farr , M . A ., Chaplain . Amongst those

who took part in tho ceremony were the R . W . District Grand Master of the English Constitution , Bro . A . Hardy , M . P ., the W . Deputy D . M . G ., Bro . H . E . Downer S . M , and other Officers ; the R . W . D . M . G . of the Irish Constitution , Bro . W . J . Crawford j the D . P . G . M . Bro-W . N . Crowder , and the principal Officers of Lodges in the suburban and country districts . Bro . G . Oughton , Grand Organist of the Scotch

Constitution , presided as instrumentalist . The installation ceremonial was of a most imposing character , and inclnded the reading , by the S . W ., of the Warrant from Sir Michael Earnshaw Stuart , Bart ., Grand Master of Scotland , appointing Bro . Muecke to be D . G . M . Bro . Mnecke was duly installed , and proclaimed in ancient form . He

received the congratulations of the P . G . M . Scotch Constitution , and the D . G . M . of the English Constitution , and Masters of the various Lodtres present , after which ho appropriately returned thanks . The D . G . M . then appointed the Officers in the Provincial Grand Lodge Bro . H . Quinn D . D . G . M .

seconded by Bro . Walter T . Christian P . M . and Sec , and also for Bro . Arthur Medworth , of London Wall , proposed by the W . Master elect , and seconded by Bro . Nicholson . Both wero accepted unanimously , aud Bro . Medworth was duly advanced to the Mark degree . Bro . W . A . Gimmingham was then presented for installation as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being performed in masterly

style by Bro . S . Turquand I . P . M . Tho newly-installed W . Master then invested his Officers for tho year , as follow : —Bros . S . J . Turquand I . P . M ., Silvester S . W ., Blackmau J . W ., Halloway M . O ., Nioholson S . O ., Pergeter J . O ., Walker S . D ., Smith J . D ., Lovelock I . G ., Medworth D . C . The brethren subsequently sat down to a recherchi banquet , served in a style for which this old-established hotel is renowned . Bro . Clemow ' s arrangements for the comfort and

enjoyment of the party elicited general applause , and the customary Loyal and Mark toasts were proposed and received with due honours . Tho very enjoyable proceedings were interspersed with some excellent vocal and instrumental musio , the arrangements for which wero under the direotion of Bro . Cozens . Among the Visitors were Bros . H . Venn , J . E . Pinder , F . H . Cozens , Hubbard , Fredk . Binckes , C . F . Matier , & c .

In addition to the services recorded in our last issue as having been rendered by the Masonic Lifeboat , the " Albert Edward , " a noble effort was made to save a portion of the crew of the ill-fated Indian Chief , but was unfortunatel y unsuccessful . The boat was out on that occasion for

twenty-four hours . For these services the National Lifeboat Institution has made very liberal payments to the crew of the lifeboat , and in reference to the services of the boats of the Institution generally , we may mention that during the

recent storms they have saved the following shipwrecked crows : —

French Ketoh " Manne de Ciel , " 4 ; Dutch steamer " Enerst , " 7 ; Spanish brigantine " Rossetta , " 8 ; ship ' * Indian Chief , " of Liver , pool , 12 ; barque " Hertha , " of Christiansund , rendered assistance ; brigantine " Hasselo , " of Haguesund , 8 ; schooner " Minnie Coles , " of Southampton , saved vessel and crew ; brig " Visitor , " of Whitby ,

6 ; s . s . " Trafalgar , " of London , 23 ; barque " North Wales , " of London , 21 ; schooner " Rosa Joseph , " 5 ; smack " Fishguard Lass , " of Abersoch , 3 ; schooner " Miss Beck , " of Carnarvon , 5 ; fishing boats , " Magdalen , " and Star of Peace , " 12 ; two fishing boats

of Berwick-on-Tweed , saved boats and 9 ; fishing coble " Lively , " of Redcar , 2 ; several fishing cobles , rendered assistance ; sloop "Ruby , " of Goole , assisted to save vessel and 2 ; Norwegian schooner , 3 ; brig " Matilda , " of Gothenberg , rendered assistance ; and brig " Gyda , " of Swensdall , 9 ; total , 143 lives , besides 4 vessels .

INSTALLATION OF BRO . H . C . E . MUECKE AS R . W . D . G . M . SCOTTISH CONSTITUTION .

THE most imposing ceremonial that has ever taken place in South Australia in connection with the Masonic Order was the instal - lation of Bro . H . C . Mnecke as Right Worshipful District Grand Master of the Scotch Constitution , which took place in the Adelaide Town Hall , on Tuesday , 30 th Nov . With the growth of the colony the numbers of the Freemasons have correspondingly increased , and although the dignity of the official positions in connection with the

mystic tic has the same significance in a small as in a large community , yet the representative character of such an office as that of D . G . M . must necessarily be greatly enhanced as the strength and portance of the Order is developed in a comparatively new colony . The installation of Bro . Mnecke was thereforo made the occasion of a very important demonstration on Tuesday , when officers and members

from Lodges in the most distant parts of the country attended to take pai't in the ceremonial . The office to which Bro . Muecke has just been appointed was formerly held by Bro . C . H . T . Connor , who retired a short time since on account of ill-health . The members of the Grand Lodge assembled at the Town Hall at 7 . 30 p . m ., and when the visiting members from Hie other Lodges had arrived , to the

number of npwards of 500 , the hall wore a very imposing appearance , which was heightened by the display of the various insignia appro , priate to the occasion . The Lodge was opened b y an impressive service in which the R . W . Allan Quin G . S . W . officiated as Installing Master , assisted by Bros . J . Wallace as Senior Warden , A . Hall Junior Warden , and the Rov . Canon Farr , M . A ., Chaplain . Amongst those

who took part in tho ceremony were the R . W . District Grand Master of the English Constitution , Bro . A . Hardy , M . P ., the W . Deputy D . M . G ., Bro . H . E . Downer S . M , and other Officers ; the R . W . D . M . G . of the Irish Constitution , Bro . W . J . Crawford j the D . P . G . M . Bro-W . N . Crowder , and the principal Officers of Lodges in the suburban and country districts . Bro . G . Oughton , Grand Organist of the Scotch

Constitution , presided as instrumentalist . The installation ceremonial was of a most imposing character , and inclnded the reading , by the S . W ., of the Warrant from Sir Michael Earnshaw Stuart , Bart ., Grand Master of Scotland , appointing Bro . Muecke to be D . G . M . Bro . Mnecke was duly installed , and proclaimed in ancient form . He

received the congratulations of the P . G . M . Scotch Constitution , and the D . G . M . of the English Constitution , and Masters of the various Lodtres present , after which ho appropriately returned thanks . The D . G . M . then appointed the Officers in the Provincial Grand Lodge Bro . H . Quinn D . D . G . M .
