To the FREEMASON ' S CHEONICLE . DEAR SIR AND BROTHER , —As a correspondent of your contemporary , the "Freemason , " signing himself " Observer , " has personally alluded to me as " one of Bro . Lamonby's nominees , " and to my low position on the poll , allow me in fairness to explain .
1 . I never sought election . 2 . I was not nominated by , or in consultation with Bro . Lamonby who , I may remark , did not nominate anyone . 3 . I was nominated , with three others , by my own Lodge , the " Cambrian of Australia , No . 656 , E . C . "
T A \ Were nominate ' > ! believe , as a protest against the treatment of my ijodge by the lato Board—a treatment which my Lodge , rightly or wrongly , considers to have been illegal and unjust .
vve Have not canvassed for support , and as Grand Lodge voluntarily elected two out of our four nominees the Lodge will , I have no doubt , be as grateful as I am for this continued proof of Grand Lodge ' s determination to support us in the cruel difficulties under which we have been , without fault ° t our own , so long suffering .

GLAMORGAN LODGE , No . 36 . ON Monday , 24 th inst ., the interesting ceremony of installing Brother Frederick George Harrison as Worshipful Master of this Lodge took place at the Masonio Hall , Cardiff , in the presence of a large gathering of the Craft . The ceremony was all the more interesting seeing that Bro . Harrison during his connection with this Lodge since the year 1889 has made himself exceedingly popular with his fellow members , and by his adherence to the
ancient traditions and tenets of the Order has won the esteem of the Brethren outside his particular Lodge , his election to the chair for the ensuing year was therefore as popular as it was unanimous . Amongst those present at the ceremony were Brother Marmaduko Tennant the esteemed Deputy Grand Master of tho Province , Bro . 0 . R . Lyne Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Monmouthshire , and many others .
Prior to the installation ceremony Bro . D . R . Roberts formally presented to the Lodge an enlarged coloured photograph of his father , one of the oldest Masons in Cardiff , and who , as far back as thirty years ago occupied the ohair of the Glamorgan Lodge for two years in succession , and was in consequence accorded Provincial honours . This handsome present was accepted on behalf of the Lodge by the retiring Worshipful Master Bro . A . L . Roberts , another son of the esteemed Brother whose photograph formed the object of the presentation .
Bro . Fisher , who moved that a hearty vote of thanks should be accorded their worthy Brothor for his kind memento , spoke highly of his connection with tho Glamorgan Lodge , and services to the Craft in general . The vote was seconded by Bro . S . Cooper , who said that it was Brother David Roberts who had initiated him into the mysteries of Freemasonry thirty years ago .
Bro . Wallace cordially supported the vote , remarking that he knew of no one who had endeavoured more to conform to the principles of Masonry in his daily life than had their esteemed Brother David Roberts . The vote was enthusiastically and unanimously carried . A second presentation followed , being that of a Past Master ' s jewel , which was presented on behalf of the Lodge to P . M . Bro . Clarry , by the D . P . G . M . Bro . Marmaduke Tennant who , in making the gift , spoke in eulogistic terms of the services Bro . Clarry had rendered the Lodge .
Tho latter having appropriately responded , Brother D . R . Roberts the retiring Master installed Bro . Frederick George Harrison into the chair of the Lodge , the ceremony being enthusiastically applauded . Bro . Harrison expressed his high appreciation of the honour conferred upon him , and subsequently invested his Officers . In the evening the annual banquet was held at the Angel Hotel , under the presidency of the newly-installed W . M . The usual toasts were honoured
LODGE OF FREEDOM , No . 77 . AT a recent meeting of this ancient Lodge , afc which Bro . Thomas Nettlingham W . M . presided , Bro . James Alfred Whitfield S . W . was unanimously elected Master for the ensuing year . The installation meeting will take place at the Town Hall , Gravesend , on the 15 th July , when a large gathering of Provincial Freemasons may be expected .
Last Wednesday several of the members formed themselves into a Lodge of Recreation , and , accompanied by their wives , daughters and sweethearts , proceeded by train to Hampton Court , thence by ' La Bourgoyne " launch to Windsor .
The proceedings were under the management of Bro . Joseph Davis I . G . of tho Lodge , and were in every respect most agreeable and satisfactory . The party returned to Gravesend by special train in the evening , having spent a most enjoyable day .
MERCHANTS LODGE , No . 241 . rPHE members met on Tuesday , 25 th inst ., in strong force , aided by a JL large number of Visitors , to instal the W . M .-elect Bro . Dr . Arthur
Edwards Povey . The installation ceremony was carried out in a manner worthy of the Lodge by Brother Ralph Robinson ( formerly Preceptor of the Lodge of Instruction ) , and the Officers were appointed .
In addition to a P . M . ' s jewel , a very handsome silver tea service was presented to the retiring W . M . Bro . Dr . Philpofc .
MINERVA LODGE , No . 250 . ON the 24 th inst ., a large number of Brethren assembled at the Masonio Hall , Dagger Lane , Hull , to take part in the annual installation ceremony . Bro . J . E . Walker having been installed as W . M ., he appointed the Officers .
The annual banquet followed , and was attended by about eighty Brethren . After the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts , the W . M . submitted Our Grand Rulers , to which Bro . Joseph Todd ( of York ) Prov . Grand Treasurer
Grand Standard Bearer of England responded , and said that in Grand Lodge tho Province of North and East Yorkshire was well known and highly esteemed . He recognised in his recent appointment an honour conferred upon the Province as well as upon himself .
Bro . M . C . Peck Prov . Grand Secretary proposed the toast of the evening , and in doing so said that he hoped all the Worshipful Master ' s hopes and aspirations would be fully exemplified . The Lodge was never so numerous , nor was it ever in such a prosperous condition , and never did greater
unanimity exist in any Lodge . Bro . Walker's courtesy and geniality were well known , and every member congratulated him sincerely on his attaining tbe position as W . M ., and wished him health , strength , and prosperity . The Worshipful Master was heaitily received on rising to respond , and
