REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

Brad stow Lodge , No . 2448 . ON Wednesday , at the very pretty and convenient Masonic Temple at Broiadstairs , a meeting was held presided over by the Worshipful Master Bro . William Fred . Whiteing , who received the support of Bros . John T . May P . M . Secretary acting S . W ., W .

Nation J . W ., A . H . Hale P . M ., J . Watson acting Sec , A . H . Clark S . D ., H . B . Langham J . D ., J . H . Batten Org ., W . H . Northover I . G ., G . J . Hamilton Tyler ; J . Wallace , F . Higginson , W . E . Sacker , G . E . Scott , J . King , J . A . Wright , H . Bing , J . F . Ferrier , F . W . Wood , H . Barrett , T . P . Swain , J . H . Snow , & c . The Visitors included Bros . F . G . Collier 2292 , H . R . Armitage 808 , J . S . Jacobs , and J . Wynman .

The Lodge being formed was opened with solemn prayer and the minutes of the regular and emergency meetings were read and confirmed .

I here were two candidates on the agenda for initiation , and as a preliminary the ballot was taken for -Mr . Arthur Augustus Tyler , and proved unanimous in his favour . Bros . J . F . Ferrier and W . Barritit answered the usual questions in a faultless manner and were entrusted and retired , after which the W . M . vacated the chair in favour of Bro . E . H .

White , who as one of the Founders of the Lodge maintains the greatest interest in its welfare . He opened the Lodge in the second degree , when Bro . H . Bing was examined , and having answered the questions in a faultless manner was entrusted . The Lodge was advanced to the third degree , and that Brother had the privilege of being raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason , taking his place amongst the Brethren as such .

The Lodge was resumed to the second degree and Bro . E . H . White P . M . kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . A . H . Hale P . M ., when Bros . Ferrier and Barritt having been re-admitted were in due course passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . The . Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and then called off for well deserved refreshment .

On resumption , Bro . Whiteing W . M . initiated Messrs . J . Carl Aalbregt and Arthur Augustus Tyler . The ceremonies were conferred separately , we were agreeably surprised to see , indeed we were delighted to have been able to be present to witness the working , as we have seldom seen the ceremony more impressively rendered ; there was not the slightest hitch or hesitation ; the

whole being a great credit to the W . M . and the Brethren belonging to the Lodge . Neither can we speak too highly of Past Masters E . H . White and A . H . Hale ; their working was admirable . Well deserved compliments are clue to them and to the Officers of the Lodge , the labours of which were afterwards concluded in regular form .

Doric Lodge , No . 2359 . INSTALLATION OF BROTHER JOHN LAWRENSON

THE annual meeting and Festival of St . John took place at the Masonic Rooms , Chorlton-cum Hardy , on Saturday , 15 th inst ., and there was a good attendance of members and visitors alike . Lodge was opened at an early hour of the day by Bro . Julius Laurisch Worshipful Master , who initiated Mr . John Edward Feay , Commercial Traveller , Old Trartord , into the mysteries and privileges of ancient Freemasonry .

This was followed by the installation of Bro . John Lavvrenson S . W . into the chair of K . S ., the ceremony being performed by the retiring Master in . an exceedingly creditable manner , the slight foreign accent , which , despite his English verbal dexterity , he could not thoroughly discard , adding a piquancy to the proceedings .

Bro . Laurisch , judging by his composed manner , apparently capitulated without a struggle from an honoured position . He was ably assisted in the ceremony by Past Masters George Alfred Myers P . P . G . D . C ., A . K . Boothroyd P . G . S . B ., J . M . Veal , Joseph Ward , and W . H . Anderton .

In passing , we may emphasise the feeling of respect which Bro . Laurisch has induced in the Lodge on his own behalf . As he would admit in his own language , " Wenn man don Hund schlagen will , find't man bald ein Stecken / 1 so it ought to be equally as easy for us to rise superior to disparagement and lavish praise whereit is deserved . Bro . Laurisch has ever been an enthusiast

in Alasonry , a hard worker , a clever exponent of its principles , who , possessing skill , energy , and prudent tact , could subdue external circumstances ; so that whilst able to control the natural impulses of those whom he governed , he was also able to minister to their content and happiness , reminding one of the man referred to by a Spanish writer , who was " flexible in resolving , and inflexible in performing . "

The following is a list of the Officers for the ensuing twelve months : Bros . R . J . H . Sayers S . W ., E . W . Rowsell J . W ., A . K . Boothroyd P . M . P . P . G . S . B . Treas ., Joseph Ward P . M . Sec , G . A . Myers P . iM . P . P . G . D . C . B . C ., F . J . Brundrett S . D ., C . L . Paine J . D ., J . W . Holt Org ., A . R . Harrison I . G ., G . H . Bassett , H . Bennett , W . Watmough , and R . L . Whitehead Stewards .

The Festival of St . John was a most successful function , and as a matter of course was presided over by the newly-installed Master . Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly proposed , that of the Provincial Officers being responded to by Bro . A . K . Boothroyd .

The health of the Worshipful Master was proposed by Bro . Laurisch I . P . M ., who admitted that the duty of installing his successor had been one of . pleasure to him . He reverted to the bonds of friendship which united himself and Bro . Lawrenson , and said they had gone hand in hand together for years , following
