W . aa Worshipful Master for the ensning year . The Lidge was opened by the W . M . ( Bro . Miles ) , and after the usual business Bro . Miller presented Bro . Stewart ; for installation . The ceremony was admirably carried out . The new

W . M . appointed and invested hia Officers for fche year , as follow ;—Broa . Stookall S . W ., Martin J . W ., Williams Treasurer , Milton Secretary , Larky P . M . Dir . of Cers ., Kenahett S . D ., Outtrim J . D ., Davis Organist , White I . G ., Exell Tyler . The W . M . then presented

Bro . Miles LP . M . with a handsome P . M . ' s jewel , and in doing so ¦ poke of fche admirable manner in which he had devoted himself to the best interests of the Lodge dnring his year of office . Bro . Miles briefly thanked the brethren for their gift . The customary banquet followed .

THE annual meeting waa held at the Masonio HaU , Dawlish , on fche 17 th inst ., when the W . M . elect , Bro . Hearn was ably installed by fche I . P . M . Bro . Locke . That his year of office might be a successful and pleasant one was , he felt sure , the earnest wish of all present , and he therefore called upon tbe brethren fco rise and drink

heartily to the toast . Ifc ia acarcely necessary fco remark that Bro . Blear ' a invitation was promptly and cheerfully acceded to , after which Bro . Stephen Jupp sang " Here ' s to bis health in a song . " As a rule this grand refrain is listened to with tbe utmost attention and thoroughly enjoyed by fche company on these annual festivals , but in consequence of Bro Jupp ' a desire fco endeavour to make popu .

lar a new tune to the fine word- * of the son ? , great astonishment was depicted on the countenances of all present , at what was evidently considered ihe wrong melody . Brother Jupp ' a fine voice certainly did the song justice , but tho tune was not en evidence . With all due respect fco fche laudable ambition of composers to , if possible , improve a popular tune , we think this

song , that has become so popular io fche North of England , should be sung with the original music , which , like the air of * ' God save the Queen " every one knows , and would prefer to hear . Bro . Morris made an appropriate reply , in tho course of whioh he said that during his Masonio career , when fulfilling the various office * , he had endeavoured to perform the dnties attached thereto to the best of

his ability , and he assumed , from the honourable position he now occupied , that he had given satisfaction for which he naturally felt very pleased . He could not look back without remembering with gratitude how willing at all times the P . M . ' s were to advise , and , if necessary , assist him , and he felt more comfortable when taking such an important position as W . M . of fche Trafford Lodge thafc

be could rely upon their assistance in the future as in the past . The P . M . ' s were undoubtedly a tower of strength in their Lodge , and thore was no doubt it was in consequence of the interest they continued to take in it as shown by their constant att -ndanae and ever readiness to assist and advise the Officers , that the success and prosperity of the Lodge was due . Ha should endeavour to emulate

the example of the Past Masters , and as ifc was the duty of every man to do his best , he assured the brethren they might rely npon his doing so , and maintaining the prestige the Lodge had so long enjoyed . The health of the I . P . M . Bro . Blears was proposed in eulogistic terms by Bro . John Morris , who B ( . jke in high terms of praise of the zealous manner he had performed his duties during the past year . Every

duty and ceremony had been performed by Bro . Blears with characteristic care and correctness , whilst his affable , courteous manner had caused him to become exceedingly popnlai amongst the members . He ( Bro . Morris ) trusted tho I . P . M . wonld live for many years , and be present at their meetings to give all who required it fche benefit of his advice . The toast was heartily drank , and Brother

Blears made an appropriate reply . Bro . Georgo Bnrslem proposed the Visitors in felicitous terms , several of theirnumber replying . Other toasts were honoured , including the Installing Master , Masonio Charities , the P . M . ' s , the Officer ? , & c , a pleasant evening ' s enjoyment terminating at eleven o ' clo k . During the intervals between tbe toasts some capital songs were sang by Bros . Jupp , Dr . Allin , Lees , & c . i Br \ Lisonden gave two recitations .
