No . 1903 . THE installation of the recently-elected W . M . of this Lodge ( Bro . the Rev . H . E . Belts ) , took place on Tuesday evening , the 18 th inst ., at the Masonio Hall , Portsmouth . The ceremony was impressively performed by Bro . Lieutenant Giles , R . N ., to whom a Past Master ' s jewel and certificate were subsequently presented .

D ., Martyr D . C , Thirkettla I . G ., Armond Steward , Carter Tyler . At the banquet which followed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , Bros . Williams P . G . J . W . and Cudlipp severally responding for the present and past Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge .

THE sixth anniversary meeting of thia Lodge took place on iuesday , 11 th inst ., at Halstead , when Bro . Hilla was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year by the outgoing Worshipful Maater Bro . Kellett P . M . 1312 P . P . G . Swd . Br . The Officers for the year were invested as under : —Bros . Kellett I . P . M ., Bromley S . W ., Woodward J . W ., Cavill Treasurer , Inman Secretary , Jutsum"S . D .,

Rev . C . T . Broinwich J . D ., Corpus I . G ., Pendle Tyler . At the conclusion of the ceremony fcho new W . M ., in fche name of the Lodge , presented to Bro . Kellett a handsome P . M . ' s jewel , in token of the respect in whioh he was held amongst the members . Although Bro . Kellett had practically left Halstead , the brethren hoped he

would come amongst them as often as be could , and that wherever he was , this jewel wonld serve to remind him of the Joshua Nunn Lodge . Bro . Kellett , in acknowledging the gift , thanked the brethren most heartily for snch a handsome mark of their esteem , and said he should ever remember fche happy hours he had spent amongst them .

Bro . Copus P . M . was unanimously re-elected to represent the Lodge on the Essex Provincial Charity Committee j and a grant having heen made to the Halstead Cottage Hospital , the brethren adjourned to banqnet , whioh was admirably served by the host of the George Hotel . Daring the evening some excellent vocal music was con . tributed by Bro . Egbert Roberts end others .

A VERY large gathering of brethren took place afc the Peace Hall , Thorne , on Wednesday , the 19 th inst ., to witness the installation of Brother Constable into the chair . The principal characters will be nndertnken by Metiers . Ch » n . Her . manu , Leonard Ootrara , Bassefct Roe , Stanislaus Calhaem , Gilboit Yorke , & c . ; Mesdaine * Charles Hermann , Nellie CfcrisLie , E . Kiag , and Francis Ivor , & o . *

The St . James a re-opens on Monday next , the 3 lst inst ., when Mr . George Alexander will continue the run of " Lady Windermere ' s Fan . " The next production at thia theatre will be a comedy by Mr . R . C . Carton , entitled " Liberty Hall . " During tbe recess the upper boxes , pit , and gallery have been entirely re-seated and improved .

Mr . Robert Lody ' s season at the Opera Comique will commence on Saturday , 5 th November , when an entirely new farcical comedy in three acts ( from the Russian ) and entitled " You Mustn't Laugh , " will be produced , with a strong cast , including amongst others :

Mesdames Annie Hughes , Edmund Phelps , Florence Haydon , Kate Bealby , Florence Fordyce , Thoa Lesbrooke , and the clever child actress Daisy Stratton ; Messrs . Julian Cross , Orlando Barnefcfc , W . Brunfcon sen ., Frank Macrae , and Gospodin Lubimoff . The above comedy will be preceded by the urasical play " Monsieur Jacques , "

with Gospodin Lubimoff in the title role , and a prominent continental soprano in the singing part of Nina . On Saturday afternoon , 12 th November , the one-acfc comedietta , entitled " Who is Sylvia ? " by Austin Fryers , will be played , with the author in the cast , in lieu

of " Monsieur Jacques . " During the season , a series of special matinees will be given , at the first of which' will be performed " Roma , " a modern society drama in four acts , adapted from the French of V . Sardou .

Tha Biographical Magazine for September contains a short account of the life and an admirable portrait of Bro . T . Hunter-Boyd , the present courteous and intelligent Jeotnrsr at the Niagara Hall , Westminster . No ono who has visited tha exhibitions of " Jerusalem" and "Egypt , " can have failed to rematk tho full measure of information conveyed in a few words by Bro . Boyd , nor
