programme of dances , Bro . Lindon Wyatt introduced humorous sketches , and rendered them in a manner much appreciated by the audience . The Misses Cann and Miss Teed gave selections on the mandoline and pianoforte . Miss B . Slee recited a humorous piece entitled " Oh , that tooth " and a

scene from the " School for Scandal , " while her sister , Bliss A . Slee , sang two soprano songs ' , whioh were very ably rendered . Mr . Edwin Smith V . C . M . played two selections on the violin , in which he was accompanied by Bro . A . Smith V . C . M . Organist . The thanks of the W . BI . to those present for their services brought the gathering to a close at 2 a . m .

ANCHOLME LODGE , No . 1282 . A T the Masonic Rooms , Brigg , on Monday , 18 th inst M the installation r \ took place in the presence of a large number of members and visitors . The retiring Worshipful Master Bro . F . 0 . Hett P . P . G . J . W . having been re-elected to the office , was ra-installed by the Chaplain of the Lodgo Bro . Rev . H . F . Oliver , assisted by Bros . J . Spring and J . Frankish .

The customary banquet vvas subsequently held in the Lodge room , at which Bro . W . H . Sissons Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Lincolnshire was present . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

NORMAN LODGE , No . 1334 . THERE was a numerous attendance at the Masonic Hall , Durham , on the 20 th inst ., to take part in the installation of Bro . Col . 0 . Rowlandson P . M . P . P . J . G . W . as Worshipful Blaster for the ensuing year . The ceremony of installation was ably performed by Bro . L . Booth P . M . P . Prov . Senior Grand Warden .

After the ceremony of installation and other Masonic business had been concluded , a banquet in celebration of the annual festival of St . John the Evangelist was held in the banqueting hall . The W . M . presided , and the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to . The proceedings were greatly enhanced by the excellent musical programme .

ST . JOHN LODGE , No . 1343 . AN ordinary meeting of this Lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , Grays , on Wednesday , 27 th inst ., when Bro . F . W . Palling presided , and was assisted by Bros . E . Ayres S . W ., J . Weymouth J . W ., G . H . Silverwoqd S . D ., C . Asplin J . D ., R . Atkins P . M . I . G ., R . Matthews Organist , H . 0 . Borradaile Sec , H . Salter Steward , Chas . Westwood P . G . A . D . C I . P . M ., F . S . Guy

The Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes were read and confirmed . The ballot was taken for the Rev . Alfred Haslehurst Delafield and Mr . William Brown , which proving unanimous , these gentlemen were duly initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry . The working of the W . M . was most excellent . Bro . Spurr , having answered the usual

questions leading to the second degree , was subsequently passed in a perfect manner by the W . M ., who was most ably assisted by his Officers . The Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and Bros . Delafield and Brown being admitted Bro . C Westwood I . P . M . delivered the ancient charge in a most impressive manner . The Lodge was closed in due form .

The Brethren retired to an adjoining room where a very excellent banquet was provided by Bro . Cunningham , and a most enjoyable evening was spent . Songs were given by Bros . J . Hay , Cockburn , Thorne , Higgins , James , and Borradaile .

ARCHITECT LODGE , No . 1375 . THE annual meeting and festival of St . John , which took place at the Blasonic Hall , Chorlton-cum-Hardy , on Friday , the 8 th inst ., vvas perhaps the most extensive and imposing of its kind which has ever been held in the building . So many visitors were expected from the neighbourhood of Burnley and Colne , that a special train had been chartered to convey

them to and from Manchester , and special carriages had also been engaged for the intervening distance between the cotton city and the rooms at Chorlton . Bro . T . A . Holland S . W . Worshipful Master-elect is a Blanchester merchant , and this fact very probably accounted for so great an influx of Brethren from the manufacturing districts .

On this occasion Lodge business was transacted in the dining room , the festival of St . John afterwards taking place in the Lodge room , this alteration being rendered necessary on account of the extra accommodation which the latter room afforded . The preliminary business having been disposed of , which consisted of

the reading and confirmation of minutes , and a successful ballot for Bro . Jas . John Lambert P . M . Chorlton Lodge , No . 1387 , P . P . G . R ., who entered the Architect Lodge as a re-joining member , a board of Installed Blasters was formed as follows : —Bro . Chas . Rawle W . M . as Installing Master , Bro . Thos . Vernon P . P . G . D . C . as S . W ., and Bro . J . J . Lambert as J . W .

Bro Holland was duly placed in the chair of K . S ., with all the usual Masonic rite and ceremony , the following Officers for the ensuing year being afterwards invested : —Bro . A . Redfearn S . LIVERPOOL DRAMATIC LODGE , No . 1609 . THE January meeting of this Lodge , which is largely composed of dramatic , musical , medical , and literary Brethren , invariably proves one of the most interesting ordinary gatherings of the year , and that which took place on Tuesday , 26 th inst ., at the Blasonic Hall , Hope Street , was remarkable for the numerous attendance of members and visitors , and for the number of candidates belonging to the theatrical profession , says the "Liverpool Blercury . "

The post of honour was held by Bro . Harris Fineberg W . M ., who was supported by a full complement of his Officers , and in the course of the meeting threo comedians , prominently identified with local pantomimes , one publisher , one music hall artist , one theatrical manager , and one electrician connected with the stage were admitted to tho Order .

Great interest was shown in tho proceedings , and this was increased by the excellent after dinner programme of music , the chief item being the " Blasonic Overture " of Bro . H . Round P . BI . P . G . S ., which was played by a full orchestra .

WIRRAL LODGE , No . 2496 . THE regular meeting was held at the Claughton Blusic Hall , Birkenhead , on Thursday , the 7 th inst ., on which occasion Bro . Councillor James Gamlin Worshipful Master completed his term of office . There was a large attendance of Brethren , including visitors from other Lodges .

During tho evening Bro . George Proudman P . M . Royal Victoria Lodge , No . 1013 , was elected Worship ful Blaster for the ensuing year by the unanimous vote of the Lodge , and he afterwards received the hearty congratulations of those present . Upon the invitation of Bro . Gamlin W . BI . the Brethren sat down to a substantial banquet , the remainder of the evening being devoted to harmony of a very pleasant description . The installation of Bro . Proudman will take place on the 4 th proximo , when it is expected several influential Brethren will be present .
