A resolution was adopted to the effect that in future the Lodge should meet in the winter months and riot ii ! the summer . The installation banquet was held in the Caledonian Room . In due course the I . P . M . gave the toast of the evening , tho W . M . To Bro . Coote , he said , the Lodge mainly owed its existence . The yvay of its origination was , that there were certain premises in the market which it was

thought would make a capital Masonic Club . Bro . Coote was consulted , and called around him some members of the Ravensbdurne Lodge and others , but the project fell through . Then it occurred to Bro . Coote to start a Lewisham Lodge , and the matter was received very cordially . They bad . to oqntend with " difficulties , but owing to their W . M . ' s ability and influence these were surmounted , and in due time the Warrant was granted , with , as they could see for themselves that night , a grand' result . The initiates numbered 29 ,

and the joining members 13 , and the Lodge now had 57 active members . ' The W . M . was accorded an enthusiastic reception on rising to respond . He thanked the I . P . M . and Brethren ; he had done his best to make the evening ' s proceedings successful , and if he had done so he was repaid . He felt keenly the honour the Lodge had done him in placing him in the chair had stated

after two years only of its existence . ! He had had , as the I . P . M . , a good deal to do with the founding of the Lodge , hilt he did not wish to take all the glory of it to himself , and mentioned particularly Bros . Tyler , Shelton , and Lewis . He assured the brethren that , so far as lay in his power , nothing would be wanting on his part to promote the welfare and interests of the Lodge .

The toast of the Visitors , proposed from the chair , was responded tp by Bros . Everden , Irvine—who spoke in the highest terms of the Lodge working Weaver , Westmorland—who remarked upon the fact that Brother Cpbte would occupy the chair of two Lodges through the year , arid Dilley . The W . M ., giving the I . P . M ., said that Bro . " Lamb ' s work in the Lodge had been magnificent—everyone had been delighted with it , and his working , that evening in the installation ceremony was almost marvellous .

The I . P . M . said that he occupied a new position , into which he did not feel that he had quite settled down . It seemed a very short time since he was placed in the chair , and he knew when he topk the position , that he had a difficult task before him in following Bro . Sims , who had created such a record for the Lodge ; but he was well supported ^ anil was pleased to know that his efforts had giveri satisfaction . Although he had given up the reins of power he would continue to serve the Lodge to the best of his ability .

In proposing the Charities , the W . M . deplored the absence of Bro . McLeod , Secretary of the Boys Institution , who had telegraphed thaf'helBS'd looked forward to being present , bi £ jb was prevented by illness . Other toasts were the Treasurer and Secretary , and the Officers—their work being given highest eulogy . ? '"

It being election night Bro . H . Dehane P . M . as Preceptor , R . J . Rogers P . M . as Treasurer , and G . D . Mogford P . M . as Secretary were unanimously re-elected for the ensuing year . Bro . Beesley in very'feeling terms proppsed a hearty vote of thanks to be recorded to those three Gfficers for the ' mdst successful year the Lodge had had under their guidance , which was suitably acknowledged . Bros . Brown , T . Mogford , and Weaver were elected Auditors , and Bro . Brown W . M . for next Tuesday .

Dyer offered himself as candidate . He was then examined and entrusted , the Lodge advanced , and the second ceremony rehearsed which , including the charges , wa § delivered in a most perfect manner , reflecting grea ] t credit o ^ n Bro - Woodrow , the Founderlihd Preceptor of the Lodge . '

Bro . F . Walker was elected W . M . for next Monday , when the Brethren may again expect a Masonic treat . Bros . F . W . Westcott 1563 , E . G . Cooper 1158 , and H . G . Hyem 2626 were elected members , which compliment they duly acknowledged .

The Bye-Laws were read , after which the ballot was taken for Preceptor , Treasurerj and Secretary , the result being unanimous in favour of the previous Officers , namely : Bro . C Woodrow Preceptor and Treasurer , and Bro . F . W . Simeon Secretary . The renewed confidence of the Brethren was duly acknowledged in flattering terms .

The Lodge meets every Monday afternoon , at three o ' clock , and Brethren wishing to improve themselves in their Masonic career cannot do better than join . We can say with confidence that it would be difficult to find a better Preceptor than Bro . Woodrow , who is full of patience , and pays the greatest attention to every Brother who comes to him for information .

The annual supper of the Lodge will take place on Monday , 29 th November , and Bros ; Woodrow , Simeon , and Moss were elected Stewards for the occasion .

The Lodge was opened to the third degree . The W . M . kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Sinclair , who resumed the Lodge to the second degree . Bro . Gbhen answered the usual questions , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed in an excellent manner . The W . M . having again

occupied his chair resumed the Lodge to the first degree . Bro . Cecil Merrie acted as candidate , and the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , this work also giving satisfaction . Bros . Alfred Cohen P . M ., Crick P . M ., and Sculler were unanimously elected members , and Bro . Fred . Holden chosen W . M . for the next ' rrieeting .

The annual dinner takes place qn Wednesday , 17 th November , under the presidency of Bro . A . Darch P . M ., the able Preceptor .

The Etruscan Lodge , No . 546 , Longton , will celebrate its Jubilee on the 9 th of November next , when , health and circumstances permitting , the Lodge will be honoured by the presence of Lord Dartmouth Provincial Grand Master , Lieut-Col . Holden J . W ., A . Darch P . M . Treas ., E . Sinclair P . M . Sec , 0 . Merrie S . D ., J . West J . D ., C . Randall I . G ., C Wise P . M ., Collins , T . Janaway P . M ., C . Riley , T . Holland , J . Wynman , Jesse Burton , John Peter Robinson 177 , McGlennon 1772 , W . A . Husk 1772 .

The Lodge was punctually opened by the W . M . at three o ' clock , and advanced to the second degree . Bro . T . Holland offered himself as candidate , was examined and entrusted . The Lodge was further advanced , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , the W . M . giving the explanation of the tracing board . By desire of the W . M . Bro . Wise worked the first section , assisted by Bro . Darch Preceptor .

Bros . John Peter Robinson , W . A . Husk , and McGlennon were elected members of the Lodge , and Bro . B . Cohen chosen W . M . for the succeeding itneeting .

ON Wednesday , 27 th inst ., Bro . B . Cohen W . M ., Fred . Holden Treasurer S . W .. J . W . Riley J . W ., A . Darch P . M . Preceptor , E . Sinclair P . M . Secretary , C . Randall S . D ., Crick J . D ., Jesse Burton I . G ., Collins , McGlennon , M . Hirsch , Levy , Wynman , Cecil Merrie , Douglas White , A . Cohen P . M ., and Robinson .

The Lodge was opened to the third degree . The W . M . kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Sinclair , who resumed the Lodge to the second degree . Bro . Gbhen answered the usual questions , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed in an excellent manner . The W . M . having again

occupied his chair resumed the Lodge to the first degree . Bro . Cecil Merrie acted as candidate , and the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , this work also giving satisfaction . Bros . Alfred Cohen P . M ., Crick P . M ., and Sculler were unanimously elected members , and Bro . Fred . Holden chosen W . M . for the next ' rrieeting .

The annual dinner takes place qn Wednesday , 17 th November , under the presidency of Bro . A . Darch P . M ., the able Preceptor .

HUGH OWEN LODGE , No . 2593 , ON Friday , 22 nd inst ., at Frascati Restaurant , Oxford Street , Bro . H . T . Kobelt W . M ., Read S . W ., ' Kidgway J . W ., Holland P . M . Preceptor , Soper Secretary , Nicholls Treasurer , Sch ' rader Organist , Barnett S . D ., Drake J . D ! , Trill I . G ' ., Swinton , Ramsbottom , Wootton , and Roberts . The ceremony of passing was rehearsed , after the candidate had been examined and entrusted . The ceremony of raising was then rehearsed , the candidate having been examined and entrusted , and the Lodge duly opened in the third degree .

Bro . Read being elected to occupy the chair at the next meeting , and all Masonic business being ended , the Lodge was closed in due form with perfect harmony and adjourned .

The Etruscan Lodge , No . 546 , Longton , will celebrate its Jubilee on the 9 th of November next , when , health and circumstances permitting , the Lodge will be honoured by the presence of Lord Dartmouth Provincial Grand Master , Lieut-Col . Bindley D . Prov . G . M ., and other distinguished brethren .
