AN ex-pupil , Mr . J . A . Coupland , has gained an entrance Medical Scholarship of the value of 64 guineas at the Yorkshire College School of Medicine , at Leeds . This Scholarship will enable Mr . Coupland to continue in his course of medical

training , and is a striking proof of the value of the retention scheme adopted by the Institution , for deserving boys . It may be remembered that Mr . Coupland was the first recipient of the " Grand Lodge Scholarship , " founded in 1896 , by means of which he has been able to pursue his studies for a medical career .

ON Monday the elder pupils of the School at Battersea Eise were entertained by the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress at the Mansion House . Mr . Charles Bertram gave a conjuring performance , and there w . is afterwards a dance in the

Egyptian Hall , followed by afternoon tea . Alderman Sir Eeginald Hanson , M . P ., Treasurer , Bro . Loveland-Loveland Chairman , Colonel Peters , Bro . J . H . Matthews , and others of the Committee of Management , were present with the children , as were also the matron andteachers .

The Diamond Jubilee medal has been presented by Her Majesty to Bro . Sir Clements Markham , a Founder and now P . M . of the Royal Navy Lodge . Sir Clements is President of the Eoyal Geographical Society .
