HARMONY LODGE , No . 275 .

ON Sunday morning , tho lObh inst ., the Centenary of the above Lodge was celebrated , when abjut 400 or 500 members of various Lodges in the West Riding Province attended divine service at HuddersfFed Parish Church . They met at tho Masonio Hall , South Parade Huddersfield , and walked from thence in procession to tho

, ohurob . Masonic clothing was worn , and tho weather being- fine a large number of people witnessed the procession . Tho Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge of the Wesfc Riding brought up tlio rear . They were headed by the Right Worshipful tho Provincial Grand Master Bro . T . W . Tew ( who was preceded by a Sword Bearer , aud

Bapported by the two Standard Bearers ) aud Bro . Henry Smith Deputy Provincial Grand Master . On arriving at tho gates of tho Church the brethren drew up on each side of the street , in order to allow tho Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge to walk through , each of them saluting the Provincial Grand Master aa he passed . The brethren filed in afterwards , and followed the Officers of the

Provincial Grand Lodge into church . At the gate the procession was met and preceded into church by the Rev . Canon Bardsley , M . A ., Vicar of Huddersfield , and the Churchwardens ( Messrs . Alfred Sykes and W . H . Armitage ) , each of whom bore his staff of office . The service was commenced with " All people that on earth do dwell . "

Tho Rev . C . Dudley Lampen , Vicar of St . Andrew ' s , Huddersfield , and Provincial Graud Chaplain of Wesb Yorkshire , intoned the service . The first lesson—1 Kings viii . 22 to 54—was read by Bro . A . J . H . Fletcher , M . A ., Chaplain No . 275 * and the second—1 Corinthians xiii . —by the Rev . Canon Bardsley , M . A . Litany was

said by tho Rev . W . H . Norman , M . A ., Curate . Under tho supenntendency of Bro . J . North , the choir ably led the musical portion of tho service . The Jubilate Deo was sung to Sullivan ' s service in E ., and the anthem , " Behold , how good and joyful , " ( Clarke-Whitfield ) , was also rendered , the solos in which were given by Bro . W . Riley

and Masters Binns and Easter . After the singing of the hymn " Nearer my God to Thee , " the Rev . P . F . J . Pearce , Vicar of Pulloxhill , Amptill , Bedfordshire , and Past Provincial Grand Master of West Yorkshire , preached from the words—* ' As we have therefore opportunity , let us do good nnto all men , especially unto them that are of

the household of faith , " ( Galatians vi . 10 ) . Tho collection taken on behalf of the Huddersfield Infirmary amounted to between £ 31 and £ 32 , and was conveyed to tho communion rails , to be received by the

Vicar , by tho Right Worshipful Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge , who was accompanied by tho Churchwardens aid tho Sword and Standard Bearers . When tho service was over the Masons returned to the Masonio Hal ) .

Grand Master , and the Officers oi tho Provincial Grand Lodge past and present , expressed the satisfaction be experienced iu being present and witnessing such efficient working . As the brethren

knew , he bad for some lime past been precluded from fulfilling his Masonic duties in the way he should have desired , but now that be had terminated his mayoral duties , he would go more into fche Masonio world .

T . I E installation of fche W . M . book place in fche Hall , St . Saviour , gute , Ymk , on the 11 th inst ., and the event was invested with more than ordinary internst , iuasmuch as fcho Lodge was fcyled for the first time since the restoration and adornment of the building . The Lodge-room had been thoroughly renovated , painted , and decorated ; new oak seats bave been fixed on both sides below the

dais aud these have been covered with crimson velvet ; the floor has been carpeted , and the room is now one of the most suitable and handsome apartments for purposes of Masonic work that can be found in the country . The carpet may be described us being a magnificent Masonio one , having a blue ground with Masonic

devices woven in , and surrounded with the Royal Arch border . The staircase baa also been carpeted and painted ; tho two lower rooms have been painted ancl fitted with patent ventilators . The entrance hall has been laid with encaustic tiles by Bro . F . Rawlings , ancl in the Lod ^ e-room itself a aunlighs , Las been fixed in tbe c . ^ utre . The

roof has been painted in au ethereal blue colour , artisiiially lelieved with groups of stars in gold , the upper pa- 'ds of the walls being filled in with svall frescoes , the subjects being Egyptian Masonic groups , which have been executed in a maptcrly style by Bro . to fche order of Bro . W . Brown afc tho works of Messrs . Crossley , of Halifax . The painting and decorations have been earned out by Mr . Pearson , Gocdramgate , York ; and the upholstering work and

seating by Bro . A . Chapman , of Petergate , York . The work has been superintended by a committee under the chairmanship of tho VV . M . Bro . S . J . Dalton . Ifc will be further satisfaction to tho brethren to know thafc a contract has been entered into for tho

completion , np to a certain point , of fche organ , and this work will bo carried out during the early part of next year by Messrs . Donmua and Sons , Skeldergate , York . It is also contemplated , at no distant date , to erect a suitable lavatory , and to add to the rooms available for Masonio ceremonial purposes the upper floor of tbe Tyler ' s

cottage , reserving the lower floor for cooking purposes . When thia is done the suite of Masonio rooms will be perfect . Sir Michael Hicks Beach has notified his intention of holding the Provincial Grand Lodge of Gloucestershire in Gloucester next year , and by invitation of the Dean and Chapter it is contemplated holding Provincial Grand Lodge in the Chapter-room of tbe Cathedral , with a special service for the occasion .

By the kind permission of the Very Rev . the Dean of Manchester , a musical service "will be rendered in the Cathedral oa the evening of the 9 th December , by the brethren of the Arthur Sullivan Lodge , No . 2156 . Tho sermon will be preached by Brother tho Rev . T . Barton Spencer , M . A . A collection will be made in aid of the East Lancashire Systematic Educational and Benevolent Institution . Brother J . Baker was installed on Tuesday , the 26 th instant , aa Worshipful Master for tho ensuing joir of the Herschel Lodge , No . 1894 .

Sir Michael Hicks Beach has notified his intention of holding the Provincial Grand Lodge of Gloucestershire in Gloucester next year , and by invitation of the Dean and Chapter it is contemplated holding Provincial Grand Lodge in the Chapter-room of tbe Cathedral , with a special service for the occasion .

By the kind permission of the Very Rev . the Dean of Manchester , a musical service "will be rendered in the Cathedral oa the evening of the 9 th December , by the brethren of the Arthur Sullivan Lodge , No . 2156 .
