The newly installed W . M . gave an admirable address on Freemasonry and its bearing in connection with every-day life . The banquet was provided by the manageress of the Hotel , and during the evening a Secretary ' s jewel was presented to C . F . Wardley P . M ., for his long services in that capacity . Past Grand Standard Bearer of England , in recognition of his valuable services to the Lodge as one of its founders and first Master .
Bro . G . J . McKay said that " out of the fulness of the heart the mouth speakcth . " His heart was so full for various reasons that he could not adequately express to tho Brethren his feelings , but he would be very ungrateful if he did not thank the Brethren from the bottom of his heart for tho handsome silver loving cup they had so kindly presented to him , not only for its intrinsic value , but for the kindness of heart and the fraternal feeling
which had prompted tho Brethren to recognise any small services rendered to 2217 as one of its founders and first Worshipful Master . Ho regretted that through the pressing emergency of his business avocations , he had not been able to tako such an active part in the work of the Lodge as he would like , but trusted in the future to devote more of his time and energy to the best interests of the Lodge .
Bro . McKay then had tho loving cup filled with champagne , which was passed round , when all tho Brethren drank to tho health and future happiness of Bro . McKay .

An especial feature of the entertainment was a duet by Bros . Hall and Boden , whioh was rendered in capital style .

Crowther said he had been particularly impressed , not only with the ceremony which ho had gone through , but also with the Charge he had heard delivered , and the wording of the different ceremonies . He could not help feeling a certain regret that
these lovely sentiments should be as it were circumscribed to a few , that is to say numerically . Masons were weak in numbers compared to the population of the world who were not Masons . Thus it seemed a pity that those sublime sentiments , the object of which was to elevate and purify the mind , should benefit only a few and not the many . Whether the object of
diffusing them could be attained he did not know , this , however , he could tell thorn , that thoir beautiful ceremonies had had such an effect upon his mind that he could not help regretting there were fellow creatures not yet Masons , who had not yet had the opportunity of sharing in that which would elevate and purify them .

known Bro . Meade for seven years . He gave him an oxcollent character on account of his connection with other organisations . His inclinations were on the side of charity , and ho would consequently make an excellent Mason . He would have said more about him had it been necessary , but whatever words he was deficient in , Bro . Meade would supply .
Bro . Meade replied , saying he thanked them most heartily for making him a Mason and one of themselves . Particularly did he thank Brother Adamson for doing him the honour of proposing him . The remembrances of the very impressive ceremony which they had witnessed , and in which he had played so prominent a part , would remain with him so long as he might live . His most sincere hope was that ho might be a good Mason , a credit to the Longsight Lodge , and any Lodge in which he might find himself .
In reply to the toast of the newly-passed Brother , proposed by the W . M ., Bro . Archer said he had not expected to be called upon to mako a speech . He , however , thanked both his proposer and seconder , to whom he felt grateful for their assistance in affording him the privilege of becoming one of them . What he had already seen of Masonry would , they might rest assured , remain impressed upon his mind , and cause him to become a good and true Brother .
