United Grand Lodge.

His Royal Highness the Most Worshipful Grand Master has been graciously pleased to appoint as President of the General Board , in succession to R . W . Bro . Loveland Loveland , R . W . Bro . Frank Richardson P . G . W . P . G . Registrar , and as Grand Registrar , V . W . Bro . John Strachan , K . C ., P . G . Overseer .

The Board unanimously recommends to Grand Lodge that Article 154 , Book of Constitutions , be altered so as to include as exofficio members , all Past Presidents of the General Board , and proposes to add the words to the Article , " All Past Presidents " after the word " President . "

The District Grand Secretary of Madras has reported that . ' . . having been convicted of embezzlement and other offences , and sentenced to a term of imprisonment , has been expelled from Freemasonry by the District Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons . The Board therefore recommends he be also expelled from the Ma . rk Degree .

Examination of the returns required by Art . 132 , showed that a Lodge , in the London District , had installed in the chair of Master a Brother who was at the same time Master of another Lodge , contrary to the provisions of Art . 104 , which states that a Brother shall not be Master of more than one Lodge at the same time , unless by the dispensation of the Grand Master , which in this case had not been applied for . The Board ruled : —

That the Installing Master a , nd Secretary had been' guilty of negligence in not ascertaining prior to the Installation that the Master-elect was qualified and eligible for the chair according to the Book of Constitutions , and admonished these Brethren .

That the Lodge should apply for a dispensation , which should be dated " nunc pro tunc , " and read at the next regular meeting of the Lodge . That the Lodge be fined the sum of two guineas . That the ruling of the Board should be read at the next regular meeting of the Lodge and entered on the niinutes .

Application has been made by the body styling itself the United Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Victoria , Australia , for recognition , and the Board being satisfied that the Constitution of this Body is in accordance with custom and precedent , recommends that Grand Lodg-e do acknowledge it to be the Giand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Victoria , Australia , strictly reserving to itself in the document of recognition the customary restrictions and conditions .

The Warrant of the Astrrea Lodge , No . 8 3 , has been returned to Grand Lodge through the District Grand Master for Burma . A petition has been presented by the Moore Lodge , No . 146 , Lancaster , praying that the name may be changed to the Garnett Lodge , and as it has received the approval of the R . W . Provincial Grand Master , the Board have sanctioned the change .

The Board have accepted with many thanks the gift by the M ; . W Pro Grand Master of a copy of the Book of Constitutions of the Freemasons , dated 1767 . The Board h ' a . ve to acknowledge with many thanks the gift by W . Bro . Imre Kiralfy A . G . D . C ., of a trophy of armour and a number of rifles and bayonets , and recommend that the thanks of Grand Lodge be voted to him .

FUND OF BENEVOLENCE . The R . W . Bro . the Right Hon . the Lord Mayor ( Sir Joseph C . Dimsdale , M . P . ) P . G . W . has most kindly consented to preside . at the thirty-fourth Annual Festival in aid of the Benevolent Fund , which will be held at the Freemasons' Tavern on the 2 nd July 1902 , and the Grand Secretary will be happy to receive the names of Ladies and Brethren willing to act as Stewards .

****************** The election of a Brother as Treasurer of his Lodge for the forty-fifth year in succession is worthy of record . This has recently occurred at the Victoria Lodge , Callington , when Bro . C . T . Pearce P . P . J . G . D . was chosen for the forty-fifth

time . The " Western Morning News" says it is believed that Bro . Pearce has held Office as Treasurer of a Lodge for a longer period than any other in the West of England , and even in the whole Craft there are very few , if any , with a longer record of service in one Office , such service being without any break from his first appointment .
