Lodge St . John , 3 bis . —Election meeting of this , tho oldest Lodge in Glasgow , called together a very large muster of the brethren . Bro . D . M . Nelson E . W . M ., after opening tho Lodgo , apologised for the absence of tho Secretary , Bro . Dick , who was attending the bedside of his dying father . He had that day called to seo Bro . Dick sen ., one of the oldest of their members , and ho feared thoy would

Nelson brought forward a case of charity , on behalf of tho widow of a Brother not of their own Lodge , when tho sum of £ 5 3 s was subscribed by the brethren present . Bro . T . Smillio P . M . proposed tho thanks of the Lodge to the retiring Master , not only for his conduct in tho Lodge ,

but also for the way he had transacted its business outside . Bro . Wm . Bell I . P . M . seconded , in a speech expressive of true Masonio principles . Bro . Nelson said it was gratifying to find his conduct thus appreciated ; he had during his year of office made many friends , and he would fain hope that he had made no enemies .

St , Cuthbert Lodge , No . 41 . —This Lodge held a special meeting at the Masonio Hall , Kirkcudbright , on Monday , 25 th December . Business—Installation of Bros . John Erskine R . W . M and James Clark P . M . as installed Masters , now held necessary by tho Grand Lodgo of Scotland . The installed Masters present were Bros . J . Eitchie E . W . M . of Granite Union Lodge , No . 480 ,

Dalbeattie , and James Cowan and James MoMnldrew , Past Masters of St . Cuthbert Lodge , No . 41 . Tho following other brethren were present—John A . Osborne , William Monncey , Laurontius Noren Secretary , J . Livingston Tyler . Tho ceremony was performed by Bro . Eitchie , in an excellent manner . The business being ended , tho Lodge was closed in due form .

Caledonian of Unity Chapter , No . 73 . —This Chapter held its regular meeting at 213 Buchanan-street , Glasgow , on 27 th Dec , G . W . Wheeler Z . presiding . There were two brethren for exaltation , and the ceremonies were performed with that completeness which can only be secured when each Companion knows his duty and is able to perform it efficiently .

Mirren ' s Lodge , No . 129 , Paisley . —Tho meeting for the election of office-bearers of this Lodgo took place on Monday evening , the 18 th inst ., in the Masonic Hall , 15 Moss-street , Paisley . The attendance of brethren present was tho largest over known to assemble at a similar meeting of this Lodge , over 1 G 0 members having signed tho attendance book . After tho Lodge had been opened in dne form by the E . W . M ., and tho minutes read and approved , the auditors appointed at tho last meeting read their

report , which showed tho funds of tho Lodgo to bo in a very satisfactory condition , there being a balance this year of £ 37 to its credit . Alexander McPherson , in recognition of his highly appreciated services whilst holding that office . Some business of minor importance having been transacted , the Lodge was thereafter closed , ' , in due and ancient form , by tho newly installed E . W . M .

Lodge of Good Fellowship , No . 278 . —The Installation Ceremony in connection with tho Lodge of Good Fellowship , Chelmsford , took place on Thursday , ; in tho Lodgo room , at the White Hart Hotel , in tho preseuco of several brethren from a distance , as well as a good mnstcr of tho ordinary members of the Lodge . Tho Ceremony of Installation was ably undertaken by the

V . W . Bro . the Eev . C . W . Arnold , Grand Chaplain for England , and D . P . G . M . for Surrey . The new Master , Bro . E . Tho Chapter was closed , and the Companions adjourned to tho banquet , when the usual toasts were duly honoured , and a very agreeable evening was spent ; each Companion going homo satisfied at haying enjoyed himself .

After the installation , the Lodge was placed under the care of the new J . W ., Bro . McKechney , and the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were duly honoured . Bro . Phillis

then said as they had the Master and Wardens , as well as a deputation from the Caledonian Hallway Lodge 354 , he would follow the old time-honoured custom of placing the Lodge in their charge for a short time . After Bro . A . B . Fergerson had taken the chair , he proposed the health of Bro . Phillis , highly eulogising his work , by which ho had raised tho Lodge to its present proud position . Bro . Phillis said it had been his ambition always to keep before the Lodgo ,

whether at work or at refreshment , the three great principles of Bro . thely Love , Belief aud Truth , as well as tho cardinal virtues of Faith , Hope , and Charity ; aud though the Lodgo had just had a sharp con . test , ho hoped that now all would again unite to carry these principles into practice . Ho knew ho should havo tho assistance of the new office-bearers , and trusted that the rest of tho members would second their efforts in tho good work .

Albert Edward Lodge , No . 592 . —The election and instal . lation of officers of this Lodgo took place on the 21 st . Amongst those who took part in the ceremony were H . S . Edmund I . P . M . St . Loage was opened , and the minutes were confirmed . Ballots wore taken for tho admission of Messrs . Sampson Samuel and A . Marks , tho latter gentleman being tho father-in-law of tho W . M . olect . Bro . Victor Myers was presented to tho Lodgo , a Board of Installed Masters was formed , and Bro . S . V . Abrahams P . M . duly installed him into the chair , perfectly and impressively . At the

conclusion of tho ceremony ho received tho congratulations of every brother and visitor present . Bro . T . Fenn P . G . A . D . C . occupied the J . W . ' s chair . There were 13 W . M . ' s and P . By tho way he had performed his duties , he had won the esteem of all the brethren . The jewel he was about to present was but a feeble expression of the respect of the members . It might be of considerable value .
