He spoko of tho great interest taken in Masonry by tbe Grand Master , and said how proud the Grand Officers were to serve under so distinguished a chief .

As to the Grand Officers , he might remind thorn that Shakespeare had said , "Of their own merits modest mon are dumb . " Ha had never met with a mode « t Grand Officer . For himaelf , he desired to magnify his office . However great in Grand Lodge other Officers might be , he had to represent that which was tho greatest of them all . In the course of his remarks ho mentioned that the amount subscribed to tha three great Masonic Cbarifc ' 03 last year was £ 55 , 500 , and a further snm of £ 7 , 800 was paid from the Benevolent Fund , and that therefore tha amount obtained for charitable purposes was £ 63 , 000 . He mentioned thafc he had already gone np as a Steward for the Boys' School and the

Girls School , and he now proposed to represent the Lodge at the approaching Anniversary of tbe Benevolent Institution . With the assistance of the brethren he hoped to take np a handsome sum on that occasion . Bro . Murdock , M . P ., who met with a most enfchusi . astio reception , gave the health of the Visitors . Frederick Sloper opened the Lodge , aud , after the usual

preliminaries , assisted by Bros . Johnson P . M . and Hopkins P . M ., installed hia successor , the S . W . Bro . the Rev . Walter Humphreys . The nsual addresses were dolrvered by Broa . Howse P . M ., and Hopkins P . M . The newly installed W . M . appointed and invested hia Officers for the ensuing year , as follow : —Bros . Siopar I . P . M .,

After the nsual routine business the Lodge was closed , and the brothren adjourned to an excellent banqnet at the Bear Hotol , which waa supplied by Bro . Reynolds , aud gave general satisfaction .

AT tho Masonic Temple , Hop " -street , Liverpool , on the 20 fch inst . Bro . Thomas R . Williams was only iustalltd as Won-hipf ' a Master for the ensning year . Broa . Hayward and Miller responded , and thafc of the Tyler . Not the least agreeable feature of the proceedings was the excellent singing of Bros . Bonny , Millar , Martin , and Strickland P . P . G . O ., a Past Master of the Lodge of Union . The musical arrangements were nnder tha sole direction of Bro . Strickland . The installation and banquet were , in their several ways , very successful and agreeable functions .
